    Let me know what your thoughts are with In camera vs post sharpening 🤙

      great review, after reviewing so many comparisons, i assumed if one was concerned with sharpness and they were still interested in purchasing a camera that didn't have the best sharpness, that one might be able to just fix it "post production"...
      ...and your video helped me conclude that would be an accurate assumption...thank u very much! 💯✨️

    Very nice mate! I didn’t know people complained about the in-body sharpness, I think it looks fine on my phone screen which is now becoming the main medium of watching contents tbh

    Vu, first of all, thanks for all your work, suggestions and humour 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
    But can I ask you a question: what workflow can u suggest to douchebags that don’t have yet money to buy a7sIII and willing to maxout their a7c's with slog3???
    Sorry for my poorness and lack of money but I'm from Ukraine and we having some major problems now... So, buying new the camera is difficult wright now... 😉😊

    I didn’t start dropping the sharpening in Camera until I picked up this Sony a6600. I do prefer to have it smoother out of Camera, as I can see in your -7 detail. As for the GoPro though, I’m not a fan of Low sharpening, I try to keep it on medium

    I just tested this and I see no difference let alone a benefit for sharpening in post rather than in camera, people just make up BS.

    I can't get out of my head whether my mind is playing tricks on me, when I'm filmed a leather jacket which is meant to be smooth with detail, it seems to feel a bit too sharp. I've not changed anything on the camera. Out of the box, do you think they've added extra sharpness? Or is it because eyes see differently in real life to a flat screen where the camera has filmed every inch of the jacket in full detail?

    Thanks for the video. I really thought it was mostly hocus pocus and seems to be generally correct. Less things to do in post for me is always the better bet. I think 0 looks perfectly fine. But I also like things being sharp so I can see some people wanting to pull it back a little. Needless to say I don't think it leaves any distortions and to my eyes doesn't look overly processed. So Imma just leave it at 0.

    Pretty subtle man. At the end it all comes out to 1 major thing
    How much time do you want to spend in post "grading" your image to deliver it on Facebook/TH-cam/Instagram
    I just don't see the point anymore.
    Anyways, keep up the nice vids!

  • @hcl8836
    @hcl8836 3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

    I would say detail at 0 is not good as your cap starts to flicker when you turn your head. -4 is ok but the sharpening in post from -7 gives the most flexibility ... so best way to go in my experience.

    Vu great stuff as always. I thought the 0 detail setting in the Sony body looked the best. I wonder what the results would have looked like in low light; I think the 0 detail may add more noise? I know you know this, just added for the comment readers.

    that's a really nice comparison. generally i agree with you, though people don't always shoot slog 3 to get more control, its actually to get more dynamic range.
    i think I'll keep shooting at 0 detail because it seems the same with or without and its just another step to do in post that isn't really necessary.
    if i accidentally forget to sharpen it while shooting -7 I'll regret it later, the client wont notice the difference anyway, worst case if it looks over sharpened you can soften it a bit.
    the client will notice difference if you have more or less dynamic range though.
    also worth to mention is that there are much more LUTS available for slog3 then pp off.

    • @nVuFilms

  • @ronbackal
    @ronbackal ปีที่แล้ว

    I honestly start to think it's all very cosmetic, I try to look for a month for differences. Was thinking about sharpness and even to buy super expensive prime, but honestly I don't know how much that will change the perception of a film I'm doing
