  • In today's video we look at the fords 4 transmission and found out what killed the np435 4 speed, luckily it's an easy fix and we should be back on the road soon and out having fun in the truck again!

When you stuck your head in the tunnel to turn it over I died. I felt this so hard back when I did my five speed swap.

Properly restored... one problem at a time lol did this a few times with a '74 Chevy Blazer. Shattered a pressure plate, twisted front driveshaft into pretzel, broken rear axle, good memories tho

I have a 72' two wheel drive, with the FE 360 and the granny gear four speed. I love that truck. I'm a mechanic like you. I got the truck cheap because an exhaust donut gasket was blown out. I had trouble with the two studs on the manifold Y pipe. So I removed the the manifolds. Even a manifold had stud problems so I removed the intake manifold and heads and cleaned everything and put new head gaskets and gaskets and quickly got everything back together. And the truck was an excellent work horse especially because I have off the grid property where there's a very steep spot in the access road. One of my frost plugs on the block was rusted through and weeping so I replaced them with the strong rubber and metal compression style.
      Thanks for your channel.

Somebody's been watching some Vice Grip Garage maybe? (whistling). Those are serious flat spots. Pinpoint spots are pretty common in my experience. Could lube be a factor?

Video was useless for me...I wanted to get a look at the output shaft bearing setup on this trans type...he skipped right over it showing only the roller from the bearing. Oh well...

Good video! I have a issue with my 71 f100 4x4 w/NP435 4sp. Not sure what yet? Making a power steering pump noise but only somtimes & only with the clutch pushed in? I've changed these heavy bastards before but never tore into one.

hmm throw out bearing needle bearings maybe or main shaft bearings could possible make that sound.

About the only way to kill one is lack of lube, or flat towing it. They should have the driveshaft disconnected if it is flat towed.
