Morning. I in my mid 50's and enjoy your videos. So i thought i would tell you about something i observed about 15 years ago. Had 2 buddies who build an S10 truck with v-8 engine. They were having issues with the durability of the 5 speed transmission that was behind the 2.8 v-6. After a couple of hard shifts (V-8 power) it was making strange noises. What they had was v8 T5 from a camaro. Placing the transmissions side by side revealed that they were dimensionally the same transmission. The only difference was the placement of the shifter (S10 over top the case and Camaro in the tail shaft). They took the parts from the broken transmission and bolted them onto the camaro T5 to change the shifter location. They had lots of fun with before they sold it and moved to their next project. So accordinging to wikipedia 😏 the T5 was a borgwerner design. It was used in Ford, Chevy, Datsun, Nissan and a whole bunch of others. Is it the same transmission from maker to maker the same case. Would the Chevy S10 shifter bolt onto the Ford case thus moving the shifter to a normal location. The tailshaft that you have in the video looked the same as the one in the camaro. The bottom 3 holes are for a torque tube attachment.
Yeah I remember when you switched engines I was telling you I did something similar to that in a 79 with a new process granny low I put in like a 90s late 90s throttle body engine that didn't have that threaded hole in the ear and I remember finding that bracket on something I wish I could remember what video you did that one on like you go back in the comments I remember talking to you about what vehicle to look for that bracket I think it was meant for a six-cylinder wasn't it I remember having a broken torque side engine mount on a Fe and spit my z-bar out and lost the little cone shaped adjustment that went on the fork and I actually rigged up something with a turnbuckle and a carriage Bolt I let the rounded end of the carriage Bolt be against the fork and I tied a little piece of wire to the turnbuckle in case it ever got spit out again I wouldn't lose it after changing the engine with an amount because it kept just ripping them out I used to pick the front wheels off the ground with a homemade tow boom on the back I've even spit the coil springs out of it and drove it home leaning from raising the front end up
ThunderHead289 yeah check your G Plus I wrote you a book on it and watch the video called sloppy red Ford and you'll see the kind of stuff I was doing when I wasn't towing with it I could run 38 on it without cutting any Fender Wells take a 4-foot ditch with that heavy Fe and Borg Warner t18 the only reason it passed away was every Ribbit in the cross members was sloppy
You very briefly talked about the differential and gears, do you have a video about just that? I have the granny gear four speed (Windsor 302) and max speed is about 50. I am going to get the Tremec five speed for 4WD, I want it to run like your ’74! your videos have been really helpful for me!
I have a '68 F250 with a 390FE 4 speed with granny. How does the parts list change if at all ? Would you use a different 5 speed transmission ? Thanks man. Great stuff !
Hey man. In the process of doing a 289 and T5 in my 71 f100. Do you know what flywheel and clutch setup I would need for the truck off hand? Is it a 28oz flywheel? And 10” clutch? Any help is greatly appreciated. Love the videos!
I'm looking at putting a 5 speed out of a 1994 f150 into my f100 from 3 speed on the column. I want to put a Hurst shifter in it. was told hurt shifters would not fit the trans. mine bow currently has 3:25 gear ratio. any advice on that?
That’s the m5od trans, I don’t like it as much as I do the t5. The m5 is designed to be hydraulic and nothing else is the biggest issue. They don’t make performance shifters for it because it was never a performance trans so to speak
It is indeed not. Came out of a cable style mustang. If you follow what I show in the video and the parts list I left below the video, this will be pretty straight forward. Only thing you will need is a custom driveshaft piece made since the t5 is longer.
I have a 73 ranchero that has a 351m, a c6 auto... the c6 lost overdrive somehow even tho it was rebuilt twice so now I'm searching for ways to convert it to a manual but there's only like 3 manual trans that fit the 351m so annoying... Unless I get an adapter for a t5 but I'll probably blow that trans up with the "big block" tourque lol
I have a 79 F150 with a mildy built 460 and a C6. Wonder how hard this swap would be for me? Guess it would really help to find a parts truck... Also, I imagine they wouldn't make a bell housing that would mate the t5 to the old 460 I imagine. Anyway, I'm content with my current set up.
What bellhousing would I need? I have a 98 Explorer 5.0 and want to do this in my ‘63. They have so many different ones I don’t know what p/n to look for?
So I have been reading and looking up info forever. Never have I had a clear answer. My truck is a 70, factory 3 speed, factory 11" clutch I just replaced. So the spline count should be the same? Plan on doing this with mine soon rather than pay $400 for the Hurst master shift setup
Yours is easy if you don’t use a roller engine. Check out the parts list in the video description. Basically just the adapter plate is all you need - the rest works out to be fairly obvious stuff 👍
I have a 90 5.0 that i want to put on my f100 I have an 88 f150 flywheel what clutch do I need because i used my 67 inline6 and it doesn’t bolt up. Or a part number of a clutch that bolts up to it?
I used the 80s 302 flywheel that was the oreileys house brand - potentially that has different drilling? Mine was dual drilled both for a finger clutch of 10in diameter (used the 68 f100 240 inline clutch) and for the actual 88 diaphragm clutch - which feels like trash and also hits the bellhousing slightly
Hey man I know this video is from a long time ago but im getting ready to swap, right now I have a 1970 ford f100 with a 302 and 3 on the tree transmission what exactly do i need to do this, like what imbalance do I need for a flywheel and what size?etc
If it's the old 302, you maintain the bell, flywheel, and clutch - just need an adapter for the trans (bell to trans - they are like 150 bucks) and to shorten driveshaft. Real easy
It doesn’t do too bad. If I sit in traffic for a long time it will start to creep. Living out in nowhere I don’t have any issues. Iv been recently transitioning over to a long haul rig, so everything aftermarket is being changed for factory style parts so if something goes wrong, I can go to a parts store. The radiator will be changed out soon as well
It's really about the same if you use your original bell and a t5 adapter. Basically that, some modification to the tunnel, a custom length driveshaft, and a different rear gear.
@@ThunderHead289 what kind of modifications did you haveto do to the tranny tunnel and transmission crossmember also did you use a mechanical or hydraulic clutch for the swap
Hey Thunderhead, Thanks so much for posting these informative and inspirational videos. They’re very helpful. I have a few questions for you. I’m building a 68 bronco with a carbed early 302 and an ax15 5 speed using an Advanced Adapters conversion kit. I was just about to begin freshening up my 28oz early 302 when I was given a 96 explorer 5.0 short block with a spun road bearing. I stripped the 5.0 down and the crank is ruined, but the bores are in great shape, still with visible factory crosshatching. It has the desirable gt40 heads also, which just need new valve seals and the valves lapped. I’ve read that I can run the early crank in the roller block if I have the rear seal lip machined off to fit the one piece rear main seal in the 5.0 block. I already have all the parts to freshen the early 302, the 28oz flywheel and a new 11 inch clutch. Can you see any drawbacks in using the machined 28oz crank, balancer, timing cover, water pump and flywheel combined with the 50oz 5.0 block, rods, pistons, roller cam, lifters, and gt40 heads? I realize I would need a new ignition system, maybe roller duraspark from a mustang, as my early Petronix distributor gear isn’t compatible with the roller cam. I’d also need the clutch pivot bracket as well. I’m not sure about timing chain and oil pump differences. I have new ones for the early 302. If everything as described is compatible, is it worth the trouble to do the conversion to have a roller cam, or should I just go with the gt40 heads on my early 302, along with the new edelbrock performer torquey flat tappet camshaft I have sitting on the shelf? Your feedback is appreciated!
i get a lot of these trucks for free the most i have ever paid for a 73 to 78 is 200 running and driving i'm more in to the 67 to 72 high boys i get those cheap too i paid 250 for a 70 high boy with dana 60/80 lockers with 5 speed top loader with a 429 but i'm putting the fe back in with a 390 have many motors ford chevy and dodge i can get a 396 chevy 460 ford a roller 390 in a 76 high boy cheap i have a friend with 10 acres of cars just all to my self and i have 10 acers with cars i think between the both of us we have over 500 cars no scrap cars we hall those in
Yes, should have talked more about that. The old bell housing are shorter than the 5.0 units, so it works out ironically well. I didn’t believe it, so I stuffed Playdo in the pilot and checked with the tranny. Sure enough, it works
I have an M5OD-r2 on my '93. I suppose it's about the same strength-wise as a T5, albeit with an hydraulic clutch. How is first gear? The M5OD is geared so stupid that 1st is like a granny but 2nd is too tall to start out from. 3.55's out back, too.
@thunderhear289 - Do you have any recommendation for an upgrade to the standard 3 speed that came on Ford's 400m? I have a 79' Bronco that I would like to get a 4 or 5 speed into but am having difficulty finding options for this.
It depends what you do - a roller will need an 11 inch flywheel which will require using the late 80s f150 flywheel. The old school 28 oz will just use an old school flywheel. Does that make sense?
I have a 1970 f100 with a 302 and I think it's a t18 or 19 4 speed granny gear is the t 5 still compatible or do I have to have a different adapter than the 3 on the tree
Hey thunderhead, off topic question but I want to pick your brain on something. Recently I put a 351w with a hot cam in a old rig, timed it at 10 degrees initial and even up to 15 and no matter what within 10 minutes it goes max on the heat gauge. The water pump is working and it does have a functioning thermostat. I did bleed the air out of the system after filling it. Any ideas?
TheGreasyBeaver what’s your cooling system look like as far as your radiator and fan? Want to drop a few pictures at the thunderhead289 Facebook page so I can get eyes on it?
ThunderHead289 I’m not on the book of faces unfortunately but The cooling system is a older three core rad and a older 5 blade fan. It has the heater core Plumbed into it at the thermostat housing and the pump also, originally the guy I did the job for had me replace the head gasket as he thought it was on backwards(typical small block mistake) causing it to heat, but it was not and still red hot
I don’t, but I think the easiest and cheapest way would to be to utilize the cable design from the foxbody with a roller engine and factory mustang bellhousing. Basically all the mustang stuff grafted in
ThunderHead289 thanks for the reply. I’m not sure what a roller engine is? I tried google and that has something to do with the cams? So basically your recommendation would be to take the drivetrain out of a mustang? Any particular year to consider? Thanks!
Nathan Ratchford well, pretty much anything that uses a cable clutch - I believe all foxbody units are set up that way. Here’s a video I made comparing the parts and pieces of the roller vs the flat tappet 👍 m.th-cam.com/video/X6GYJDhezYs/w-d-xo.html
fred fuchs I’m just a poor boy my friend - I also have to drive and use the truck. The small block gives my gas mileage, the 5 speed gives me a highway gear. Not all of us youtubers have money - especially not me
Joan Agustin Cejas H. I’m not sure what you are asking me exactly, but this f100 is a stock 3.70 rear gear which works great for a 5 speed (originally an in-line 6 cylinder truck)
@@ThunderHead289 sorry but recently i started my swap since 360 with c6 to 302 with t5 but didn't know if the drive shaft fit on the t5 this by sizes, take on mind than the yoke need be replaced , can you help me with this¡?
My all time favorite engine is the 351w. Tough ol block and can easily put out 400 horsepower. On the big block spectrum, the 460 is definitely my favorite - the fe’s are nostalgic, but the aftermarket support isn’t there unfortunately
@@ThunderHead289 thank your for taking a min I thought so. your truck a bit older but very similar and your videos have been very helpful. I bought a 81 f100 to daily 1 weeks ago it's been a very interesting experience since it hasnt seen the road in 6 years.
You sure can. As long as you are running an oldschool pre 78 engine, you are good to run the 28oz 164 tooth flywheel. You will need the bell to trans adapter though for sure
Tony Incognito the screwdriver is steel, so i welded a small bridge across the key. If you search “thunderhead289 screwdriver key” I’m sure it will come up 👍

@@ThunderHead289 I realize that, I’m weighing my options…😂 A feller can drive a straight shift without a clutch though… Just gotta have skills…😄 I hated traffic jams in my mustang coupe… My left leg would be throbbing…🤣
6'5"? Dang. Never would've guessed that! Your condolences box has given me an Idea. I want to add a radio to my '60. Not sure I want to cut into the dash
there is actually an adapter you can use. originally i had put gauges in my dash because i was building a "light to light" farm truck. then it just became a driver. so that radio on the seat with the gauges on the dash are just a residual from that time
Ah good point! I’ll add that to the list. It amazingly is the same gear and. Able design. I have the original gear in mine and it’s only 5 mph off, so I just left it. It goes about 5 over what my speedo says at 55+ mph
Low Buck Swap huh? If your looking for a World Class T5 nowadays. It's hardly LOW BUCK. Your swap would be considerably cheaper then what mine ran me on my 63 FairLane

Yeah I remember when you switched engines I was telling you I did something similar to that in a 79 with a new process granny low I put in like a 90s late 90s throttle body engine that didn't have that threaded hole in the ear and I remember finding that bracket on something I wish I could remember what video you did that one on like you go back in the comments I remember talking to you about what vehicle to look for that bracket I think it was meant for a six-cylinder wasn't it I remember having a broken torque side engine mount on a Fe and spit my z-bar out and lost the little cone shaped adjustment that went on the fork and I actually rigged up something with a turnbuckle and a carriage Bolt I let the rounded end of the carriage Bolt be against the fork and I tied a little piece of wire to the turnbuckle in case it ever got spit out again I wouldn't lose it after changing the engine with an amount because it kept just ripping them out I used to pick the front wheels off the ground with a homemade tow boom on the back I've even spit the coil springs out of it and drove it home leaning from raising the front end up
holy crap, that last part about throwing the springs into another dimension !!!
Do you know where I could find a transmission tunnel plate you mentioned?
You very briefly talked about the differential and gears, do you have a video about
just that? I have the granny gear four speed (Windsor 302) and max speed is
about 50. I am going to get the Tremec five speed for 4WD, I want it to run
like your ’74! your videos have been really helpful for me!
What shifter did you use to maintain the bench seat
I'm installing 5.0 302 replaced w/4.9 straight 6
Do you know the part number of the adapter, I looked it up by the link you got in your video but it says non in stock
I have a '68 F250 with a 390FE 4 speed with granny. How does the parts list change if at all ? Would you use a different 5 speed transmission ? Thanks man. Great stuff !
I have a 63 fairlane with a 302 looking to do a t5 swap pertty easy for a 302.
Love the custom ignition key!
Hey man. In the process of doing a 289 and T5 in my 71 f100. Do you know what flywheel and clutch setup I would need for the truck off hand? Is it a 28oz flywheel? And 10” clutch? Any help is greatly appreciated. Love the videos!
If it is already a manual and your are keeping the bell, an 11inch flywheel and 11 inch clutch from any 60s toploader Windsor vehicle will do
@@ThunderHead289 I’m using the bell from the original 300ci straight 6.
Just lost on what clutch and flywheel I need
I'm looking at putting a 5 speed out of a 1994 f150 into my f100 from 3 speed on the column. I want to put a Hurst shifter in it. was told hurt shifters would not fit the trans. mine bow currently has 3:25 gear ratio. any advice on that?
That’s the m5od trans, I don’t like it as much as I do the t5. The m5 is designed to be hydraulic and nothing else is the biggest issue. They don’t make performance shifters for it because it was never a performance trans so to speak
ThunderHead289 the t5 is not hydrolic right?
It is indeed not. Came out of a cable style mustang. If you follow what I show in the video and the parts list I left below the video, this will be pretty straight forward. Only thing you will need is a custom driveshaft piece made since the t5 is longer.
Are those original factory Freewheeling Package slot mags?? Those are hard to find now.
Some of this might be helpful for my dad's 302 swapped '68 f-100. (had a 300 and is keeping the stock 4sd t18)
The c6 doesnt have overdrive. Its just a 3 speed with 3rd being 1:1
@@JonsGarage89 I've since learned that lol but thank you
I very seldom see any of those generation Ford fullsize trucks around nowadays.
Would you recommend putting in a 2 speed rear differential into a truck like that?
@thunderhead289 any difference using a 94 or 95 T5 trans?
I am wondering if you can do something similar to this on a '53-56 F-100? They use a mechanical pushrod as well.
Good video btw! Love the truck.
There is a bellhousing made by quick time, but the trans wouldn’t hold up to 460 level hp punishment.
You would need a TKO for sure
ThunderHead289 Good point. I tend to forgot about the raw power of the 460 haha. I just figured I'd ask due to your knowledge on these trucks.
This is the exact reason I won't put a t5 behind my 390 and looking at maybe a tko or something to handle the torque and HP
What bellhousing would I need? I have a 98 Explorer 5.0 and want to do this in my ‘63. They have so many different ones I don’t know what p/n to look for?
Where do you recommend getting a nice quality rag joint? I got one off of rock auto and it cracked in a year.
OMG when I seen this I almost cried
Do you crank the truck with a skewdriver
John Hall it has a key grafted onto the end of it. It’s a fun cop trick
@@ThunderHead289 awesome. Gonna start looking around for a decent t5. Tired of the illshifting three speed.
Why 86-00, why not a 5.0 roller from 01?
I have a 79 F100 short bed with the 300 six and 3 speed in it. Should the parts list be pretty similar for me to swap one in?
Darin Stevens exactly the same I believe
@@ThunderHead289 did you have to do anything extra to account for the adapter plate as far as the input shaft is concerned?
Sweet rig, send it!!!
just gonna send er bud
I have a 90 5.0 that i want to put on my f100 I have an 88 f150 flywheel what clutch do I need because i used my 67 inline6 and it doesn’t bolt up. Or a part number of a clutch that bolts up to it?
I used the 80s 302 flywheel that was the oreileys house brand - potentially that has different drilling?
Mine was dual drilled both for a finger clutch of 10in diameter (used the 68 f100 240 inline clutch) and for the actual 88 diaphragm clutch - which feels like trash and also hits the bellhousing slightly
Thank you sir. As usual very informative. Say what ever became of that Nambo v-8 you bought. I didn't thank I missed any videos, I must have.
Nambo v8 ???
ThunderHead289 Mambo?? The one you bought and showed the disasimbly to show if it was put together well by them. It alright forget it.
AH !!! the mabbco engine.
yes, i see that landing in the galaxie this winter
Hey man I know this video is from a long time ago but im getting ready to swap, right now I have a 1970 ford f100 with a 302 and 3 on the tree transmission what exactly do i need to do this, like what imbalance do I need for a flywheel and what size?etc
If it's the old 302, you maintain the bell, flywheel, and clutch - just need an adapter for the trans (bell to trans - they are like 150 bucks) and to shorten driveshaft. Real easy
Can you please tell me which adapter do I need for my truck
When I look up the one you listed it says is for a mustang? I'd that correct?
Get rid or the flex exhaust pipe!! Please!
I have a 95f150 with 351w 2wd ,and and i have t5 transmisión for a 2000 mustang gt. Do you think t5 transmisión and my Drive shaft will fit ?
Any trouble overheating with no fan shroud and the fan that far back from the rad? My 67 mustang would get hot in traffic without a shroud.
The radiator will be changed out soon as well
I have a 65 galaxie and wanna do the t5 swap can you give me an idea of what I’m getting into
It's really about the same if you use your original bell and a t5 adapter.
Basically that, some modification to the tunnel, a custom length driveshaft, and a different rear gear.
@@ThunderHead289 what kind of modifications did you haveto do to the tranny tunnel and transmission crossmember also did you use a mechanical or hydraulic clutch for the swap
Thank you. Been trying to figure out how to add an overdrive for my 3peed f100 on a budget.
A future project could be to make the F100 4x4. lots of people would like a video like that
I appreciate the input, but Woah I don’t have the kind of time for this TH-cam thing.
Could I five seed swap a 460 with a C6 automatic I want a straight drive transmission
Man if I send you a parts list will you confirm that I’m ordering the right stuff
With your current setup 5.0 and 5 speed what is your mpg ?
Iv never tracked it, but running down the road my manifold vacuum is much higher and i hardly go through fuel. It’s probably 18-22 if not better.
Does the clutch need to be for the t5 trans or does it have to be for the old bell housing ?
It needs to match with the flywheel specifically. Flywheel has to be the right size for the bell or the starter can’t engage
I had a 77 f150 351 m i miss it

Hey Thunderhead,
Thanks so much for posting these informative and inspirational videos.
I missed this! Will respond via email
i get a lot of these trucks for free the most i have ever paid for a 73 to 78 is 200 running and driving i'm more in to the 67 to 72 high boys i get those cheap too i paid 250 for a 70 high boy with dana 60/80 lockers with 5 speed top loader with a 429 but i'm putting the fe back in with a 390 have many motors ford chevy and dodge i can get a 396 chevy 460 ford a roller 390 in a 76 high boy cheap i have a friend with 10 acres of cars just all to my self and i have 10 acers with cars i think between the both of us we have over 500 cars no scrap cars we hall those in

Lol i just bought a 71 F250 4 speed ac truck for $150 and a 6 pack... drove it 134 miles home no problems
Is the input shaft still making it in to the pilot bearing with that bellhousing adapter plate?
Yes, should have talked more about that. The old bell housing are shorter than the 5.0 units, so it works out ironically well. I didn’t believe it, so I stuffed Playdo in the pilot and checked with the tranny. Sure enough, it works
@@ThunderHead289 awesome thanks for the reply
I have an M5OD-r2 on my '93. I suppose it's about the same strength-wise as a T5, albeit with an hydraulic clutch. How is first gear? The M5OD is geared so stupid that 1st is like a granny but 2nd is too tall to start out from. 3.55's out back, too.
You forgot the ridiculously tall reverse gear. Same set-up in my 95.
@thunderhear289 - Do you have any recommendation for an upgrade to the standard 3 speed that came on Ford's 400m? I have a 79' Bronco that I would like to get a 4 or 5 speed into but am having difficulty finding options for this.
zf5's is usually a good choice for broncos
What did you do for a speedo cable, and is your speedo accurate?
Luckily, it’s the same cable as the original. You simply swap the gear to accommodate.
Mine was only 3mph off, so I left it
@@ThunderHead289 wow thank you so much for actually replying, I thought they might have been, I'm probably swapping my 71 f100 with 302
I have a 1970 f250 with the 4 speed on the floor with a t18 . Would a t5 work for me ?
Thunderhead289 is there any way I can talk to you I have some questions with my 1977 f100 & T5 thx man
Search the group thunderhead289 carb and engine tech and tune forum on Facebook. If you respond to this here, youtube will never notify me.
Do you have to use the old flywheel?
It depends what you do - a roller will need an 11 inch flywheel which will require using the late 80s f150 flywheel.
The old school 28 oz will just use an old school flywheel.
Does that make sense?
Well why can’t you use the t5 bellhousing?
ThunderHead289 with my old 73 model 302 do I need to Change the Bell housing and flywheel my truck has a c4 in it now
Couldn't keep the fuel injection that was on that engine?
I could have, I just didn’t want to. The carb makes more power and is more responsive than the old style injection from 30 years ago.
I have a 1970 f100 with a 302 and I think it's a t18 or 19 4 speed granny gear is the t 5 still compatible or do I have to have a different adapter than the 3 on the tree
I believe it is the same - you might want to verify with Scott Drake to make sure their adapter plate works for that bellhousing for sure!
TheGreasyBeaver does it have a fan shroud, and is the crank pulley larger than the water pump pulley?
TheGreasyBeaver does it have a fan shroud, and is the crank pulley larger than the water pump pulley?
ThunderHead289 there is no shroud on it and I’ll have to look into the pulley size, what would be the ideal? Smaller on the water pump correct?
Does it have disc brakes in the front or drums on all around
manual disc brakes up front. stops very well - there is a huge misconception about manual brakes
Do you have a video on converting an F100 from automatic to manual?
I don’t, but I think the easiest and cheapest way would to be to utilize the cable design from the foxbody with a roller engine and factory mustang bellhousing. Basically all the mustang stuff grafted in
ThunderHead289 thanks for the reply. I’m not sure what a roller engine is? I tried google and that has something to do with the cams? So basically your recommendation would be to take the drivetrain out of a mustang? Any particular year to consider? Thanks!
Nathan Ratchford well, pretty much anything that uses a cable clutch - I believe all foxbody units are set up that way. Here’s a video I made comparing the parts and pieces of the roller vs the flat tappet 👍

I thought you were going to put it in a big block fe on maybe a 460 kind of 😖😖😖😖😖😖😖
fred fuchs I’m just a poor boy my friend - I also have to drive and use the truck. The small block gives my gas mileage, the 5 speed gives me a highway gear.
Not all of us youtubers have money - especially not me
what's size from your axe shaft since the transmisión to diferential??
Joan Agustin Cejas H. I’m not sure what you are asking me exactly, but this f100 is a stock 3.70 rear gear which works great for a 5 speed (originally an in-line 6 cylinder truck)
@@ThunderHead289 sorry but recently i started my swap since 360 with c6 to 302 with t5 but didn't know if the drive shaft fit on the t5 this by sizes, take on mind than the yoke need be replaced , can you help me with this¡?
Joan Agustin Cejas H. I made a custom length driveshaft - a lot of places can make one for roughly 200-300
I've always been a big block guy, love the 390's and 460's, what is your preference ThunderHead289 ?
My all time favorite engine is the 351w. Tough ol block and can easily put out 400 horsepower. On the big block spectrum, the 460 is definitely my favorite - the fe’s are nostalgic, but the aftermarket support isn’t there unfortunately
Would anyone know if this fits the last gen f100s? I have a 81 with a T19 transmission with a 302.
anything with a 302, a guy can do this with
@@ThunderHead289 thank your for taking a min I thought so. your truck a bit older but very similar and your videos have been very helpful. I bought a 81 f100 to daily 1 weeks ago it's been a very interesting experience since it hasnt seen the road in 6 years.
Tim Ort you are on the “shakedown” period right now!
Will a T5 mate up to a 4.9 Inline 6 in a 1983 Ford F100 ?
That’s a good question. I believe you would have to use an adapter plate, but the adapter plate should be the same one I have listed in the details
So I gotta 69 302 3 speed, I use the bell housing from that, what flywheel do I buy?
You sure can. As long as you are running an oldschool pre 78 engine, you are good to run the 28oz 164 tooth flywheel. You will need the bell to trans adapter though for sure
screw driver for a key?
It’s actually a broken key and broken screwdriver married together 👍
I thought it fit the look of the truck. I do have legitimate keys for it as well
No shit how did you do that? Solder? That's a cool idea
Tony Incognito the screwdriver is steel, so i welded a small bridge across the key.

where is the f250 rescued from farm?
At Kevin’s place.

ThunderHead289 i can't wait to see the upcoming videos, thrse trucks are amazing, btw the f250 is finnaly in your or kevin's property or you need to wait some months to get it?
It’s on Kevin’s property. He’s just been in Iraq for months. What he has been releasing actually happened over a year ago
I think my 72 has a 3.25 gear or something like that… It definitely feels like it needs a couple more gears… lol But my truck is a 2wd truck and the tire isn’t as tall. That shity 3 speed floor shifter has definitely gotta go. I can’t stand all the slop and shopping around for a gear for 5 minutes…🙄 I’m sure I could make it shift better but why do that when I can just slap a T5 in it… I was actually thinking about going with a hydraulic clutch but idk yet…
A hydraulic clutch gains you potential problems without any benefit. Keep your venerable z bar.
@@ThunderHead289 I realize that, I’m weighing my options…😂 A feller can drive a straight shift without a clutch though… Just gotta have skills…😄 I hated traffic jams in my mustang coupe… My left leg would be throbbing…🤣
