I just found my biological father on Ancestry!!! He never knew about me, and I'm his only child. His whole family have accepted me. It's been a beautiful experience! I'm so happy that you found your sister, and that YOU are happy you found her! (Although I wouldn't expect anything less from you.) Enjoy the new relationship.
Well, if your new Sister is reading and watching I just want to say " you have won the BROTHER lottery!!" Alex just is such a tremendously generous and kind person, he is the kind of person who we just see how they live their life, being kind, compassionate and empathetic... he has shown us through his videos to be such an amazing soul who has a big heart and I can only hope, if I ever found a *new* brother, I could only pray he would be as kind and wonderful as Alex! Congratulations to you both!!!!!!! ❤️❤️❤️❤️

I have an aunt (by marriage) that had a baby at a young age, her mother told her it had died at birth, but 6 months after her mother died she got a call from a man that was her son, he was adopted by a good family thank God and 40 years later found her. Grew up with a washing machine like that. Fond memories with my mom and dad in the basement washing clothes for a family of 7. We had two cement sinks (hooked together) for rinsing. The wringer would swing around to the sink and wring the clothes and then into the second sink for another rinse. Then out to the back yard to hand the clothes in the sun. If raining (we live in Seattle) we would hang it all in the basement. I mostly watched and rode my trike around in the basement!
My husband and I live in a house built in 1961 and in 2018 had our cement utility sink removed when water was leaking on to floor. Previous homeowners had painted the cement my guess is to cover up the crack and keep it from leaking. Painting cement sink did take care of that problem for decades.
I am so impressed with your attitude and maturity! I have seen a couple of similar situations where people were angry and hurt when they found out and I never understood that reaction. I wish you and your new found family the best!
I remember the rhythm of the old washing machines, and when you put clothes through the wringer buttons would pop off and go flying across the room. My baby brothers wore plastic pants over their diapers and when those went through the wringer the wrong way they gave a loud pop and another pair was ruined. The good old days were only good back in the day!
I love those old wringer washers, and it's a wonder on that too, cause I got my hand and arm caught when I started playing with it....after mama told me not to, and why. AFTER she got my hand out and she made sure I wasn't dead, I got my ass busted for not minding her. The good ole days. yeah, boy!
Congratulations Alex! That’s awesome news. I can’t wait for you to meet her. The house is coming along great. Love the paint color in the laundry room and that washing machine is SWEET!
Congratulations! Yes, this happened in my family too. After my parents had passed we found out we had a half sister. She was looking for her real dad and had contacted our aunt. After my dad had passed my mom dropped the beans that dad had a son before they got married. It's weird, because that son turned out to be a daughter? Maybe he had a son and a daughter. My sister actually met her and I have talked with her on the phone. So, you never know. All of this happened before DNA testing was available.
Found 5 siblings at age 60. All lived in small town with me. Back in 1942 babies were given up for adoption and nobody talked about it. Has been a wonderful addition to my life. Good luck.
that is awesome I am so happy for you. I knew I had a sister but I had only seen her one time when I was very young. I am 59 now. my daddy past away a few years ago and I was determind I was going to find her again. I searched for years and a friend asked me if I have tried searched for a phone number for her so I did and in a month I found a number I thought might be her number or someone that knew her. I called a left a message and a half hour later I got a call from a lady that said hello aunt Theresa I am your sisters daughter. so long story shorter she told my sister and my sister called me. best day of my life. finding her gave me a ton more family. I also did a dna and found my dads birth parents and his twin sister and another ton of family. much love to you
Funny thing, I TOO, have had recent news in the last week that I have a half brother I never knew about! May dad had a girlfriend before he met my mom and had a child that he never acknowledged in life. now that brother was found by my cousin on my dad's side with that 23 and me stuff. Go figure! We are all excited! God bless and Congrats to you!
Congratulations and welcome to the wildest, most amazing adventure. Like you, Ancestry DNA unearthed two amazing half sisters for me a few years ago and two additional new brothers for me last year. Over the past Family Day weekend, I’ve been put in contact with a host of brand new first cousins aunts and uncles. Wishing your newly expanded family all the best!
My mum was a twin. Her sister died in 1943. Her son was adopted and we lost touch. Like your family, we advertised in newspapers and contacted the Salvation Army with no luck. In 2016 James found me on fb. I now have another cousin. He was so pleased to have found us and that he was wanted. Xx
I have been searching for my biological father off and on my entire life. My daughter got me an Ancestry DNA for Christmas 2018. I did it and sent it in. This past February I got an email on the site because my DNA matches were coming up on another man's and his son inquired about why that would be. I told him my story and he is helping me figure this all out!!. I'm optimistic, but careful not to get too excited. It's encouraging to hear your story! Super excited for you!
I found a niece I didn't know about. Her father would have been my half brother - sadly he had passed away by the time my niece found me. It was so exciting!! She's a wonderful person and she has a little boy. My family was very welcoming and we've had a wonderful time getting acquainted. Congrats!
My childhood neighbors were all adopted (their Dad was a POW during WW2 and couldn't have children due to things the Nazi's did to him) and recently 1 of them did the 23 and me testing and found her family was 2 towns over and had been looking for her for years. Her birth mother had been 16 when she was born and she was adopted thru Catholic Charities and the records were sealed. Sadly her birth mother had passed, but her sisters were over joyed to find her. I'm happy you found a new family member to share the love.
Fantastic news. You sound so happy. I’m glad for you. The colour on the wall is great and very fitting to go with the time you are looking at taking the house back to.
That is awesome news, that's the way I found my daughter that, unfortunately I had to give up for adoption. When I found her I found out I'm a grandma. Congrats to you. The DNA is awesome. It's bring family's back together.
That is great, am happy for you! The DNA tech is amazing... my mom and uncle did this recently via 23andMe and were shocked to see they were only half siblings. It turned out that my grandmother had an affair and passed my uncle off as my grandpas son when really he was the result of her one night stand. It has been a very emotional experience for the family but my uncle found a half sister and two half brothers through this. Makes me nervous to get my DNA tested.
That color on the walls and curtains is so retro. Just like the kitchen when I was growing up. ☺ I am a baby boomer !! 68 young. 😂 so nice you found out that you have a new big sister !! Congratulations ! 💞
Congratulations on your greatest treasurer find..........YOUR SISTER!💚 Yeah!!!!!! I'm so happy for you. I know how you feel! I have two brothers somewhere in the world. I wish I could find them, too! God bless and make the best out of your new connections with your Sissy!💚💜💙
I'm so happy that your sister has a new and welcoming family .... I searched my whole life and my dad wants nothing to do with me but thankfully I have cousins to talk to me and a possible brother who does also best of luck excited for you all xo
Congrats to you both! It's wonderful that this is happening for you. I was adopted, and did the DNA thing, too a few years ago - been connected with several very cool relatives. It's been exciting and also so nice to know that these DNA relatives are kind and interesting people.
I had the same thing happen, thanks to Ancestry! I’m adopted and while I met my birth mom when I turned 18, I was never able to find my birth father or his family. After I got my results from DNA back, they linked me with my half sister on my birth father’s side. This was last month so I’ve been spending the last month chatting with and meeting new siblings and other family!
We used a Maytag Wringer washer till 2001. My youngest daughter learned to wash clothes with it because that was the only washer we had. It was a bit more modern than yours, because it would pump the water out of the tub instead of draining. It certainly cleaned clothes more efficiently and was a water saver as you could use the rinse water to was things like rags and rugs or prewash work clothes. Till today she talks about her love for doing laundry started with the wringer washer. My dad always said, they do not make them like they used to! Congratulations on finding family. We sure do live in a wonderful time in history.
You have such a romantic adventurist. I love your enthusiastic openness. But it leaves me feeling kinda protective of you. God bless you & your newly found sibling.
She's gaining a lovely brother and it sounds like, a lovely extra-mom/aunt/family, too. May it all be a blessing to all of you! Also, great choice on the color of the laundry room walls. Fab!
What great finds!!!! A new big sister and the washing machine that works!!!! Sister----we are anxious to meet you hopefully. You have a wonderful, warm little brother!!!! And washing machine----Alex is right, they don't make things little this anymore---especially that work!!!! GREAT FINDS!!!!! God bless!!!!
So so happy for you and your family. She is gaining an awesome brother and family. I hope it all goes well. Love the laundry room color! Look forward to more of the Potters house.
So wonderful to have a new family member. :*) Nice choice on the curtains. We washed our things on Wednesdays in a machine like that in the 50's! Loved it!
That is so amazing!!!!! I'm sure that your father is so happy you found her! I come from a his, mine and ours family and would be lost without my sister(step) who is my FAVORITE person on the planet! So happy for you!!!
I just found you this morning and I spent the day watching all your videos on this house. Great job. I am anxiously waiting on yout next update. That washer is a great one. They got the clothes really clean with lots less water.
That’s terrific about your new-found sister! Exciting time for both of you. Aside from that great news, I love watching the development of that old house-great colour for the laundry room!!! Your I machine sounds like it works like a charm. I remember the one I used to help Mom with when I was in my childhood (back in the 50s-I’m now 76).
Lesley my aunt is O'Neil through marriage but sadly he passed away last February. In 2006 l found out l had a niece she had been put up for adoption at Birth to the Catholic Ministries and when she turned 18 she was allowed to look up her mother. She found out she had a sister 15 years old and a half brother mother's side and had a half brother and half sister on father's side. It's very sad that my brother deny her her life with her birth parents but went ahead and married the mother and had another child together 3 years later. The sad part was my brother denied her being his child until a DNA test was done last year. All these years he has denied the baby was his at least Alex's father was looking for his daughter.
Awesome, a new sister! Love the curtains behind you & the color of the walls is definitely a great happy color too! Glad I found you & your wife, y'all seem like happy people....love all of your videos too.....
Congratulations (hugs) ... blended families are not a modern phenomenon - My grandfather's was really confusing, his mum died in childbirth, his dad remarried and had more children with step-mother, his dad died in an industrial accident and step-mother remarried and more children. They were very poor but managed to keep everyone out of the workhouse somehow... Tough times, he didn't have shoes until he got a special grant and scholarship - he was very clever, a mathematician and a computer expert when there were only a few in the world! One of my old relations was devastated when he found out that the person he thought was his sister was actually his birth mother ... her parents had brought him up as their own due to the stigma of illegitimacy at that time, but it was a huge shock as he didn't like his sister/mum. Thankfully nowadays people can be more open and less judgemental and DNA can clear doubts.
Love your newly painted walls. Looks great already. Alex, please film your meeting your sister. I always cry when I see them. Fathers and daughters, brothers and sisters finding each other is very emotionally stirring. You'll have a great time in Colorado.
Awesome to discover a treasure in your past...A SISTER!!! She is probably as excited as you to meet together! I'm loving that retro turquoise blue on the walls behind you! Nice choice. When I was a kid, my mom had an old ringer-washer similar to yours, but it didn't have a guard around the ringer. She had to fill it manually by carrying buckets of water from the creek down the back of our house, because at that time we still hadn't had running water in the house. (That changed when I was a little older.) But she had done this laborious work for a whole day straight every week & hung all the wash (for nine people) outside on the washline, depending on the weather. I still remember her hanging wash outside on cold winter days, having red, cracked hands & using "Corn Huskers Lotion" to heal them. We would laugh at the frozen blue jeans hanging on the line. She really was a 'work horse'. The things she did for the family of 7 kids was unreal. RIP Mom. Anyway, reminiscing about family memories shows how important good parents & siblings are in one's life! Happy you found your sister!!!
Congrats on your new family member. My mother recently found out that she has 6 siblings after thinking she was an only child for over 70 years. Really exciting stuff!
so glad you have a sister. Spoil her rotten! I have 3 sisters and love them dearly. Love the paint color in the room and the curtains just makes it come alive....and I, too, put my hand in one of those old washing machines when I was very young...right after my grandmother told me not to. Love your videos and love watching the house come to life again. Keep up the good work.

Congratulations on finding your sister! Can't wait for the meet and greet video. Funny coincidence ... my mother had a wringer washer injury too. I, too, played in the basement while my mom washed the clothes. Unlike Alex's father, it never occurred to me to put my hand in the wringer!
Yup, that's the way to do it with the cement laundry sinks. We also had an old-time rubbing board.
P.S.: My grandmother said she caught her breast in the wringer one time!
Carol Southern My mom always said 'getting a mammogram was like getting your breast caught in a wringer!'
That warms my heart to hear that your mom is welcomong her.

My sister actually met her and I have talked with her on the phone. So, you never know. All of this happened before DNA testing was available.
Wow, congratulations on finding your sister! Love how your whole family seems so welcoming!!!
I also did a dna and found my dads birth parents and his twin sister and another ton of family. much love to you
I wonder if she's binge watching your videos? Lol!
How wonderful for you! God bless your mom! I can see where your sweetheartness came from!😊
If she's not camera shy I can't wait to see her in a video. Congratulations.
Xx
That's awesome you found a sister! It's amazing that is possible to do.
What a wonderful mother you have!! I wish my mother had been so loving!
That’s amazing! So happy for you guys!
My friend recently found her twin sister through a DNA test too! It’s still so amazing to me! Congratulations!
Congratulations! I am very happy for you! Awesome news!
Yesss curtains perfect with paint! Hope sister is great.
I was adopted at birth and my biological family found me a couple months ago, I now have 4 half sisters and 1 brother.
Love the wall colour and drapes in this room. Looks great.
That is awesome news, that's the way I found my daughter that, unfortunately I had to give up for adoption. When I found her I found out I'm a grandma. Congrats to you. The DNA is awesome. It's bring family's back together.
Congratulations, Sue, on finding your daughter! I hope it's been a wonderful reunion... and congrats on being a grandma, too! ❤️❤️❤️
That’s awesome! What a precious parting gift from your late father. He didn’t want you to be without your family. 🙏🏻
You are just the nicest guy, she is very lucky to have found you xx
How wonderful!
BTW love the blue color and the curtains!
Very exciting news Alex.
Your Mom is an amazing person!😊
Awe, that is so cool, you completed your Dad’s search and gained a sister to boot!
So wonderful to have a new family member. :*) Nice choice on the curtains. We washed our things on Wednesdays in a machine like that in the 50's! Loved it!
Your mother is a blessing.
I love the color of that room and the curtains are perfect.
Amazing! So excited for all of you. I lost my parents, something like that would absolutely feel like getting a piece of them back.
My maiden name is Dalrymple!
What a good-hearted family. Congratulations to you and your sister!
Really exciting stuff!
congratulations! It's great that everyone in the family is so warm and welcoming.
Thanks for the good news,so happy for you.old lady from Iowa 👏👏👏👏🌽🌽🌽❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
so glad you have a sister.
Congratulations! Being given more family is a wonderful thing and I’m so happy for you that you have a chance to get to know her and all the others 🐳

Congrats!! Can't ever have to much family. I always enjoy your videos. Thanks.
I was blessed in the same way. The best gift ever!
Congratulations on finding your sister! Can't wait for the meet and greet video. Funny coincidence ... my mother had a wringer washer injury too. She was about 5 years old and was feeding her dolls' clothes through the wringer and got her hand/arm caught. She's 81 now and still has an oval scar on her forearm just in front of her elbow. Love the series. Also love how respectfully you've treated and spoken about the homeowner. She's a treasure.
So happy for you. I know it's very emotional.
I have a brother somewhere I wish I could find or who would find me.
Make sure to get a test. One day he might decide to look for you too and take the test also if he hasn't already. You will find out right away that he has been tested. Otherwise, you are really not trying to hard to look for him.
Congradulations👫 Love the wall color. Love the retro curtains.❣
