I wish one day I had the captivating ability of Jack Richards to be as precise, meticulous, personable and exceedingly frank. He is undoubtedly a sensei of language teaching.😮
There are obvious editing issues, not to mention the rushing pace and the load of information. The presentation is not as successful as it might have been.
Yes, but maybe he was only told last minute that he only had 30 minutes. I doubt he would have planned this presentation, rushing it, knowing in advance that he only had this amount of time to do it (you'd hope!) otherwise he would have simply removed a couple of topics.
you'd better not believe in what Jack Richard saying. he's against the real way of learning a language. he is teaching a lot of wrong information about language learning.
There is no one correct way of learning a language because humans learn in very different ways. It easy to say these things online, but what s not easy is to achieve expertise on a certain subject. So when you reach Prod. Richards' level of expertise then maybe you can question what he says.

So what is the correct way to learn a language?
Why?
Really, then why he is a renown author and his books are on the shelf of many teachers around the world ?
