Just got mine today, used a power converter in the car to charge the battery on the way to the zoo, I had the R7 R6 R5 and the R3 for me is exactly what I needed.
I love your ability to create the troll nuances such as twirling the hair and removing the rubber band on your hair and point of view. I am free lance sports photographers and the main reason you the SD slot is when working the side line and social media director. Needs images. For a post I middle of game I can eject. Sd card give to him and keep shooting on the other card , most social media guys only have Sd on their laptop
Thank you for this. I shoot weddings and its good to have a wedding focused viewpoint on whether this will fit my work flow. I think I’ll stick with my R5/R6 combo for now but in a year or two this might be the way I go.
I welcome the 24 mp for my event photography in low light of musicians. Faster post processing. However the R5’s resolution gives you a great studio and architecture photography. Does the R3 lower resolution really show in albums, though?

The trolling is HILARIOUS ... I do ZERO "people photography" (unless it's into the cockpit and I'm catching the pilot's helmet) I'm an Aviation photographer who shoots subjects clocking anywhere between 300mph and Mach .98 (752 mph)... that eye focus feature looks interesting... I do shoot with an R5 now and agree about the ability to crop. I'd have to rent one of these and try it out... but you're making a living w/ what you do (as do Wedding Photogs - people pay bucks for life events - not so much in my space 😉). Not sure I could justify a $6K body right now. Aviation is a passion & "escape" for me from the stress of life. Loved the video and thanks for the great info.

Yes, R5 May be a better camera for photo with its high megapixel and many other good aspects but almost not very good for videographers with its overheating problem so this’s where R3 sounds promising with no overheating issues, from what other reviewers say. So, for a hybrid shooter this looks like a dream come true.
Ok, if I were not seeking information about the camera at all, this video would be amazingly entertaining. The information was great, and the presentation was Academy Award level value added. When the first EOS Auto Focus cameras were introduced to Dealer's at the old PMA Convention, we were all told the name stood for Electronic Operating System. I still have some of the promo items from back then. The other Manufacturer' booths stood empty every day of the Show. Troll's called them the Out-of Focus cameras and predicted Canon would go under because they changed the lens mount. That did hurt initial retail sales to a degree the first two years. Canon remembered that lesson and the R Lens Adapter probably came from that lesson.
You meant Electro Optical System? Canon made the right decision, abandoned FD mount and adopted EF lens. More and more professional photographer switched to Canon. I remember I compared my little bro's camera (he's a photo journalist) Nikon F4 with f/2.8 80-200 with my EOS 5 f/3.5-4.5 75-300, the F4 hunted so much, noisy compared with the EOS 5 especially with Eye Controlled Focus. Few years later his company switched from Nikon to Canon.

I only wish I had some of the charisma and personality that you have. And when I grow up I want to be half as good a still photographer as you. I shoot Sony (and since I've feel like I've invested a 4 year degree learning the menu I'm not giving them up). But I'm on the edge of the cliff looking over at trading in my Nikon gear for the Canon EOS R5. Of course this is after watching your video on this camera. Six thousand for the R3 will have to wait till I make my first $200,000 as a still photographer. Keep up the great work.

I own at least 6 CF B Cards when on Jobs, SD Cards are too slow for Sports Photography and when your expensive Cards fails, happened to me 1 time. You're screwed.. otherwise an awesome Camera. In my Gear Room are 3 1D X Mark 2 & 3 as work tools. Sold all SD Cards when I switched to the 1d Series
13:18 I think most people will complain about not having two SD card slots not the other way around. Most people will only really need a CFe card when shooting video at 4K 60P, 4K 120P or 6K RAW.
Got up at 3am this morning (in Seattle) to pre-order. I'm using the EOS R5 now and really wanted more than 24MP, but all the other features help make up for the lower resolution. Also, your KAREN interludes remind me of Uma Thurman from "Batman and Robin" before she turned into Poison Ivy. More importantly, you got all the negative stuff out of the way early so there should be less of that in the comments now! Didn't know touch-and-drag was gone! Thanks for the heads-up. I guess with the smart controller it's probably even better than touch-and-drag, and I won't have to worry about my nose anymore (left-eye dominant). One of my favorite 5D Mk4 features was the ability to use the DOF button to momentarily "unlock" so I could change settings. The rest of the time my controls are locked so they don't get changed as the top and back dials get accidentally moved. Then I'd just hold the DOF button and could make my changes when needed. This didn't exist in the EOS R, and when I saw the DOF button on the EOS R5/6 I was hopeful that the option would be there, but it wasn't. Now that I see *two* buttons on the EOS R3 (actually four, because there are another two for vertical shooting) I'm hoping to get my favorite 5D Mk4 feature back again. Then I'd use the other button to toggle between EVF and LCD like I do now with the EOS R5 (because I don't like the camera choosing for me).
Wow I have so been wanting this for when shooting in daylight with a 1.2 aperture with flash. Hopefully no more nd filters will be needed to kill the ambient light.

HELPPPPP.... I'm not a wedding photographer. More of a portrait and church photographer. I'm so confused on which camera will work best for me. I want a good all around camera. I was thinking of getting a 1dx III but I notice the r3 is cheaper so I waited. I love the R5 for portraits and when I print but I also love the low light abilities of the r6 and r3. Then I was afraid of conditions like rain limiting me and thats what made me look into the 1dx and the r3. Sorry this comment is so long. I've been researching and debating for months 🤦🏾♂️
If I were you I’d debate between the R3 and R5. I think MAYBE the R5 would be better for you bc it’s more portrait oriented BUT I’ll have a video coming out soon comparing they R3 and the R5 with a portrait session so maybe wait for that and see what you think afterwards. :-)

At 5:43 you are holding the camera with what I think is a profoto trigger, did you get chance to use external flash with electronic shutter, I know it has a sync speed of 1/180sec but does it work well with 3rd party flash equipment.
I had no problems with it and my trigger. I don’t recall if I was in mechanical or electronica shut up when I was shooting that particular picture though
@@VanessaJoy thanks for replying, I am hoping my Godox lights work in the studio with electronic shutter, it will help save the shutter count and no doubt increase the resale value when the time comes, in the UK shutter count is a big factor in trade in values.
I wanted to say you shouldn't feed the trolls but clearly that works. Maybe you should do some videos challenging unexpected trolls to a photoshoot challenge of some sort. Since they know everything lol. Also......As a "Natural light photographer", your off camera flash video made so much sense. I've watched so many videos that failed to make it easy to understand. At that price, you should not have one fast slot and one slow slot. They did not even make the SD slot UHS-III, just boring UHS-II. The cost of an extra CFEXpress card, compared to the new body, is not that much more. Wow, one fast slot and one slow slot at that p[rice point is hard to swallow.

Why would they remove the touch & drag? Dude.. I LOVE LOVE LOVE that feature on my R5. Anyone who knows the joys of drag autofocus will be pissed. The $6k is definitely out of my current budget. At 5:43 you are holding the camera with what I think is a profoto trigger, did you get chance to use external flash with electronic shutter, I know it has a sync speed of 1/180sec but does it work well with 3rd party flash equipment.
I had no problems with it and my trigger. I don’t recall if I was in mechanical or electronica shut up when I was shooting that particular picture though
@@VanessaJoy thanks for replying, I am hoping my Godox lights work in the studio with electronic shutter, it will help save the shutter count and no doubt increase the resale value when the time comes, in the UK shutter count is a big factor in trade in values.
@@VanessaJoy I noticed it was a profoto air remote for canon (what I use). Did it work without an adapter on the new multi-function hot shoe?

I wanted to say you shouldn't feed the trolls but clearly that works. Maybe you should do some videos challenging unexpected trolls to a photoshoot challenge of some sort. Since they know everything lol. Also......As a "Natural light photographer", your off camera flash video made so much sense. I've watched so many videos that failed to make it easy to understand. Thank you for that. Now to incorporate it. Lastly, you should switch it up and make your husband creating his videos of you.

In fact I recently bought 2 Canon R5's on your advice ..... Can't wait until I can get RF lenses to match .... But I can say the ef lenses worked awesome with the R5's just shot a wedding last week using the new R5's .....loved them .... Thanks for the advise .... I'm sure we will be investing in more Joy !! At that price, you should not have one fast slot and one slow slot. They did not even make the SD slot UHS-III, just boring UHS-II. The cost of an extra CFEXpress card, compared to the new body, is not that much more. Wow, one fast slot and one slow slot at that p[rice point is hard to swallow.

Dude.. I LOVE LOVE LOVE that feature on my R5. Anyone who knows the joys of drag autofocus will be pissed.
The $6k is definitely out of my current budget. I want a new second camera for my wedding shots. Since I have an R5, I'm thinking I'll go with an R6.. especially for use in reception.
I'm sure otherwise it's awesome.
