  • 1970 Plymouth Roadrunner. 440 hp motor is locked up. Using parts from our 73 charger to try and bring it back to life. Brand new brake lines and aluminum radiator, electric fans. Can we make it run?

    .440...
    Correct!
Get it running, put a vacuum canister for them brakes.
My buddy's 74' Charger, he saved the original .400 in competition blue and we dropped in that .440.
Brakes were weak! So, we put in the canister and BAM! Breaks all day long!

Nice job, sweet car. 70 is the best year. Hopefully u can restore It one day. Green with black interior and the side stripe would look real nice. Seem like it was a factory green car. Does it still have fender tag?

Run this motor for now. Because after you tear down and restore what you've got? You may not want to put a bigger engine than what it already came with. This is a smaller version of a B body. They don't really need a bigger engine. Smaller design and a lighter car. A 440hp is just the right sized motor for a Road Runner. Unless you wanna get mad stupid on the track or the street. Good luck with it. Stay safe out there.

    • @BullsGarage

It looks like that engine is a 1972 that was from a 72 police car. I think what typically happened to a lot of these cars, whoever owned this car originally was beating on it and ended up blowing the original engine. Someday if you wanted to, look for a years matching 383 and reuse the original transmission and rear end

Them 383s were tough, one was in mine before I bought it ,, spun every bearing but surprisingly wouldn’t chuck a rod through the block previous owner and friends spent a long Friday night doing burnouts with it tryin to drop a rod as a chebby would, guy soon afterwards put a 67 R/T 375 /440 In and got into El Camino s and basically gave up on it leading to my purchase of it for 400 bux ,rough ..yes ,Rusty…hell ya ,but coolest first car for a 16 year old ever 👍👍👍👍👍
