    Looking forward to this one. My first car was a 68 Roadrunner bought when I was 15. One day I left it on the side of the road with a bad fuel pump, too late to hit a parts store and too poor to afford a tow (insurance and gas aren't cheap). Bought the pump next morning only to find the car gone! Found it nearby on a forest service road, stripped and set on fire. After 37 years with the USAF, I'm priced out of the market for a replacement. You never forget your first 😉.

      Wow!! I was reading 📚 your story about how your car 🚗 got stolen and it reminded me of my father's 68 Super Bee 🐝. He parked it in an apartment complex in Laural MD over night 🌙 when he drove for Trailways. Next morning someone had stolen the hood off it. Darn Thieves. Should be public hung and castrated. This was back in the early 70s. He was devastated 😢💔.

      @@barrybaker924 I had to work another year to buy my next car, a 67 Chevelle SS. That was 1976 and I was young and stupid enough to wrap that one around a light pole. Those first two cars together would be 100K+ these days. Much regret. 🥲

    It was years before they started using torsion bars on 4 x 4 pickups. Previously they had been used on tanks and surprisingly on sports cars like Porsche's. And they do handle like a sports car. Torsion bars have far less harmonic issues than any coil spring.

  • @GarageItYourself
    @GarageItYourself 2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

    Always a personal choice but I do hate skinny front wheels, especially on a road car. Some nice 6-7inchers on the front would have given it a much meaner, purposeful looking front end.

  • @perotekku
    @perotekku 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    I like the build, only confused because Tommy mentioned the front coilovers were drag racing style, then said they needed a front sway bar for handling on the highway, then put skinny tires on the front. Seems all over the place, but it's a sweet looking build!

    I do like the RMS kit , however , you can upgrade the stock torsion bar style suspension. Qa1 makes a tubular k frame ,control arms , adjustable strut rods …etc…. I guess my point of this comment is that the stock suspension wasn’t total garbage. Mopars we’re going 200 mph at talladega before the RMS suspension was available. Cool build though 👍🏻👍🏻

    Show me a 4x4 truck with torsion bar suspension back in the 60's even the 70's but there are not none because trucks did not use them until the 90's Torsion bar was good for the times better then the old spring ride of the GM and Fords of the era

  • @JT-ko3rv
    @JT-ko3rv 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    Would be nice if all these shows would quit lying and say it's for better handling and such. It's about showing what's out there to those so inclined to swap out factory parts. There's really good oem based parts out there that will let you carve corners and stop just as good or better than any design the aftermarket has come up with and not break like spindles and brakes for a 2000lb car on a 3500lb car with way more tire/ grip . Weight and header clearance are your only real advantages over OEM designed suspension. Torsion bars have huge advantages over any type of coil or leaf. And a leaf rear is pretty tough to beat unless your going full independent for corners or a true straight bar 4 link with track bars.

    Tear it all down, and not hit the rust with some rust converter and a quick shot of paint? This won't be a show car, but come on - never a better chance to do the right thing.

    I think that's actually Vitamin-C Orange. Still rare among road runners.

    Leave it to Powernation to add easily $15K+ to a "budget" build lmao

    Any chance you guys could do dry ice cleaning on the underbody?

      They and other shows think its cool to put shiny expensive parts on greasy, crusty underbodies. They'll spend 30 grand on parts and nothing on cleaning. Disgustipating.
