Do you think this Porsche should be salvaged? & what is your favorite color of car?
Dont forget to like & subscribe if you enjoy the video!
It shouldnt be salvaged there are only very little of these still existent nowadays
I think all cars must be salvaged...!! Yep this car too ..absolutely!!
Blue is my favorite color for cars. I'd love to see this car be salvaged.
save it! Old cars are better than new ones!
That 944 I'd paint it red or blue
This car is far too good to part out. It deserves another chance at life on the road.
Restore this one! It's very nice and if the numbers match it's a better investment.
I agree! I'm halfway into the video and that was my first guess also.
It is an automatic. Unless you do a swap - it's a parts car.
@@brianjohnson6114 Oh Please!
I agree but maybe it doesn't have a title.
That 944 is worthy of more than just being a parts car imo. Also, I absolutely adore the gold here!
I am a big fan of that color. ❤
*TRUMP 2024*
You're absolutly right. Parts are easy to find for these cars and it is in great shape so it's worth restauration.
@@MikeYork-bn1mt Trumps gonna need your power equipment to clean the crud outta the alphabets in a year…looking forward….
@@stevegrizfan692 Greenland is still not for sale
That 944 seems all original so if that’s the case please don’t ruin it by removing parts off of it. That’s a piece of history so appreciate it ❤❤❤
Jake from "Sixteen Candles" would agree with this comment.
@@Christoph-sd3zi My name must be Jake because I'm leaning that way also. ;-)
Well the paint would have to go. Got some serious cancer in the back quarters which is common. Gotta figure out how to unstick the brakes and would probably require either a rebuild or new calibers at the least and might as well get new rotors (does the 944 have drums?). Cheapest solution for the ignition would be a replacement as well as door locks and hatch. Center console is shot and would have to be replaced. Wheels will need a recoat at best. The back bumper is damaged and will have to be fixed. After that, you would be best to replace everything made of rubber under the hood and chassis. At that point, you could start to address mechanical issues that are no doubt to be found. Then, you'd have to ask yourself, is it really "original"? I mean, if you are a "matching numbers" person, more power to ya. Just the term "all original" doesn't hold value to a lot of people as, over time, and especially with a restoration, it is damn near impossible to have an "original" car without stretching the word unto lost meaning.
Again, if it is your bag to love on some vehicles that are as close to showroom floor new as you can get them, that's great. You do you. Different strokes and all that. But between time, money, safety, and just sheer convenience of the job and the finished product let alone future maintenance it is rarely if ever worth it in my book to strive for a purest version of originality either by the end result or by the price tag afterward. This also isn't to say it wouldn't be a crime to mod the hell out of a car like this that is seemingly restorable shape... just that striving for purity often has several levels at best and has never been my thing.
This appears to be a rare factory delivered car in excellent condition and worth keeping together and restoring. Notice it has power steering which is extremely rare on an 1983 944. The engine is a 2.5 liter 4 cylinder making approximately 150hp.
The 83 didn't have power steering, 😊😊😊😊😊
Correct,FL had after 1985.5 😊
@@Porschee944 I have a 83 and had a 86 turbo 😀😀😀😀🚘🚘🚘🚘🏁🍺🍺🍺
50 hp less than our 2018 2.5 Camry and that's the "sports car"? Why bother.
@@formula1fancolorado632 you are a sheep !!!! Buying the same shit that EVERYONE!!gets !!! Subaru and Kia 🤮🤮🤮🤮🤮🤮 I can say this because we have a Toyota Camry. AND !!!!! a 83 Porsche 944 and the Porsche is better looking, better constructed, and is 50 times better to drive than the Toybota!!!! 😀😀😀😀🚘🚘🚘🚘 oh , in the real world your 50 hp won't do shit against our unit !!!!
Great vid, that 944 is worth saving for the right person. Honestly, use some very strong penetrating oil on the seat rails, soak, and wait. It will eventually break up the rust and move freely. Keep up the great work guys!
I use Kril Oil for bolts that are stuck. I just put some on my 84 CJ7 seat rails that had spray in bed liner. Took some work but they came loose.
My Volvo wagon would outrun that. 😂
That Gold looks so awesome on that car! Please leave the 944 intact. I would love to see that on the road!
The gold is unique. Although I've not seen your 944, maybe it should be a donor for this one. This has so much potential and you guys did fantastic on the detail. She's mint after 15 years of neglect.
This 944 deserves to be saved, the colour was very popular in the 80s porsche's.My old 928s was the same colour it was beautiful. Great video guys amazing to this car shine again.
Kalahari beige?😊
This is my favorite car from Porsche. The 911 is awesome but the 944's are my favorite. I really like the gold color here and the body is in really good condition. Great video and and awesome find! Fantastic job as always guys!
1988 or 89 turbo S for me baby! White!
Just needs a bit of restoring, don't rip the engine out. Keep the engine number and chassis the same. I hate it when cars are rescued.... then ripped apart.
It's not a brown interior... its chocolate :)
What colour is chocolate ?🤔
@@harmony4854 It's just a joke, chill
Numbers matching is everything!
There's nothing wrong with it! Do not,..tear this car, apart! His, is an 83. This one is an 84. What he should do, is rebuild the motor, in the 83. And leave the 84 complete.
I agree with the top comment, keep it original
This car has been somebodys dream car but was left abandoned. It deserves another chance on the roads
Ahhh, the resilience of Porsche. Every detail, still almost flawless. I don't care what color it is, the details were not sacrificed and that's where the beauty lies. 😅
It’s honestly amazing that you guys are able to do this, and bring life to a once junker car.
Thank you! We love being able to do this
Les progrès de la médecine ! Ah ils sont forts ces américains....😂
Totally agree! Gold was the 80s color, and I guess it is well sought after, isn't it?
You can check compression by connecting a battery and then jumping 12 volts to the starter solenoid. The starter will still turn the motor over, it just won’t start. Make sure you’re taking the compression readings with the throttle body fully open.
Before cranking it with the starter, I’d pull all the spark plugs and put a capfull of oil in each cylinder and hand spin the motor a few times. That will help bring the rings around and make sure it’s not being cranked dry.
Lastly you’re supposed to check compression hot. When you check it cold your numbers will all be a little low, but you’re mostly looking to see they’re all consistent… on a tired old motor that hasn’t ran in years I’d say within 20% of each other is fine. For a 944 I think you’ll want between 110-135 cold. Target would be 150 on a hot motor.
I suggest the same thing.
I wanted to write the same thing. And pull the DME relay of your 944. If the DME of this car is broken it wont start, you can use your DME.
Definitely, restore it! The Porsche in gold color is so nice, and the interior is just really cool. Bring it back to life. It’s like seeing a classic we don’t get to see anymore. Just like it, a travel back in time. Also, the gold color in my opinion matches the overall Porsche color wheel. 😌 love it!
+1 for restore, love the gold, brown interior 😍 soak the seat rails in PlusGas and leave for a week, they should free up eventually 🤞
Omg…beautiful classic car. I don’t see rust or damage. Paint looks good & I think should restore back n get it running
I like the gold on this car. To me it’s right. I’d restore this one, seems to be pretty solid. May be worth putting some used tires on it just to make it easier to move around.
Watching WD detailing is awesome, i like to do car detailing interiors of cars such as mine and my family's vehicles for money on my off time from work. Car detailing amazes me for a new career opportunity
Such a satisfying video. Everything that you cleaned made me smile.
My favorite color right now on a car is Lime Green
Next time you might consider using soft straps in the holes on the wheels to pull it, instead of doing bumper damage as you did, two straps, hooked together center of the car to the winch hook, no damage. Harbor Freight has cheap ones, rated pretty high, and different lengths that would save you time effort, and damage.
exactly how I would do it
Agreed. The way they didn't even attempt to inflate the tires seemed really lazy
I’d buy this if it was for sale!! (Love these videos, you’re finding cooler & cooler cars!)
Really like your videos. My favorite color for a vehicle is silver. Scratches are easy to conceal and doesn't look dirty even when it is. The car has potential. I think worth saving. If it spins, it'll run. The rust can be cut out and body work done.
Gold is a good color. My first vehicle was a two tone Gold on cream color 1984 Chevrolet K20 diesel pickup truck. Side note. Please restore this car. It deserves to live again!!!❤
Love the gold on this car. To be honest, the 944 is by far my fav Porsche. But white and green look great on this body style as well.
Such a Nice car and colour! I actually love the colour both inside and outside! It should be saved. 😎👍🇩🇰
How satisfying is to watch this dirt coming out…great work!. How satisfying is to watch this dirt coming out…great work!.
This car is beautiful! I'd use the one with the stuck motor as a parts car, or sell it and keep this one!
Fix this one!! Keep it! Drive it! :)
These films are odly relaxing, watching years of dirt being professionally stripped away with appropriate chemicals and cleaners. I'd definitely keep the car intact and leave the engine alone. Sort the panel rust and lacquer, brakes, discs etc and get it back on the road. I remember these cars when new. Radically different to the iconic 911, but still great on the eye. Thanks for an interesting film.
Cleaned up much nicer than epected. Restoration candidate to me.
I think the brown and gold is a perfect fit for this model. I would keep and get this one running and use your other car as parts car.
That gold is awesome!! Anything other than gray scale or fire engine red!
Please don’t tear it apart! It’s too clean of a car especially after such a good detail
Exactly my thoughts, although we haven't seen the underside of it, that can be nasty... and rusty as hell.
How satisfying is to watch this dirt coming out…great work!
WORD!
That was a transformation! Crazy.
This car was outside? There are no dead critters! That’s amazing.
That 944 is definitely worthy of restoration. My 928 was a basket case before I did a semi resto on mine. I can't believe how nice the interior and seats are in that 944. I don't think I've ever seen such nice stock cloth seats in the 80s porsches. They are normally totally worn or tore up. That car spent a lot of time in a garage before being abandoned.
I had same thought. It really is in a good condition. Would be cool to see if someone started the engine, or even better, on the road again!
@@EllenTheArtist Theres a lot to do before starting an engine that sat as long as this one has. Will need to go thru the whole fuel system, number 1 is to drop the gas tank and clean it out and flush all lines. Didn't pay much attention on the fuel delivery is carb or injection. If CIS, it get's expensive real quick as you really need to R&R all of it. There is no such thing as a cheap Porsche, lol.
You're crazy if you want to pull the motor out of this car it's too nice get the VIN number go to the dealership and get a new key keep looking for an engine for your other car then you will have two nice ones
Growing up in the 80’s I absolutely love the Porsche 944. They were all over the roads when I was a kid, and now you rarely see them.
From what you showed us, this car looks too good to be a donor. It will be interesting to see how this progresses. And I love gold cars, although my favorites are the brighter 1970s golds.
I love the gold it looks pretty cool and blue is my favorite color i been watching your TH-cam channel for about 2 years i love how clean the cars look when you're done with them it's a lot of work and the Porsche your cleaning is pretty rare Worth some money
There’s plenty of ways to try before you cut the seats out.and as far as the compression, get a button starter and go to auto-zone and borrow a compression gauge.
The Porsche 944 has gained a dedicated following among car enthusiasts and collectors, and it is often considered a classic sports car from the 1980s. Its timeless design and driving experience continue to make it a sought-after model in the used car market. Nice to see that it was restored. 😍❤
I agree, get this one running! I like the Gold color!
Beautiful car. Great job of cleaning guys. Have an awesome day.
If it were up to me i would totally restore it to it's former glory. It's a really nice looking Porsche, plus the gold color is quite rare on these cars "at least i think" but looks great on it nonetheless
Amazing just like the background track while washing the tyres....
im glad yall added some chill music so i can relax while watching a detail going on
Do you guys have any videos on how you go about finding these abandoned cars? If not that would be some great info.
They're not abandoned car. The car is too good to be thrown out. No fool would do that. Real abandoned car would not have complete part on it.
I always loved the 944. IMO the only colour for a 944 is black. I've seen a few examples and they look spectacular.
Great clean guys. I love every one you do.
SOOOOO satisfying. I have this exact 944. Think I'll go out and wash it.
this video is meditation to watch, perfect for a rainy weekend sunday - amazing car, love porsche !
I’m glad you enjoyed it 😇
This one would be best for restoration (and maybe the other one with the seized motor used as the parts car, lol) the body looks salvageable and repairable. The gold color would have been a much rarer option and would make it worth much more, after restoration as an original 944 ...
I think you should restore this one. It’s in really decent condition
Well done guys, congrats from Brazil. Awesone job, terrific
This is actually a rare Porsche that you don't see anymore on the road, unless it's owned by a car fanatic or sitting in a car museum on display or in a collector's garage. But aside from the rarity of the car itself the gold does look pretty decent for it.
The most overused colours though are Blue, Red, Black, White and Grey. I personally like when cars have unique colours, like Yellow, Green, Purple, Cyan or Midnight Blue.
You buys should do a second channel working on the mechanical work on these cars.
I owned a 1984 944 for 18 years. They’re fun cars. This one looks to just need some TLC to make it a great driver. It would be ashamed to do all this work just to gut it. Recommend you get it running and driving and do an LS swap with the blown engine in your other 944. There’s plenty of videos on how to do that.
Any vehicle can look good in silver. My favorite
Looks like a 1982 Clydesdale Special!
Rarer than a snowflake in a furnace!
I've owned 2 944s and loved them. I still think they look modern, although the insides are dated; one was white (boring) the other Guards Red that looked amazing once paint corrected with a ceramic on top. Because of the aluminum body rust isn't much of an issue and using mostly Audi/VW parts means that most spares are pretty cheap. I'd love to find one like this and spend time bringing it back to life.
i think this one is for sale :P
since your looking
These aren't aluminium, they are galvanised steel and they are renowned for rust issues, especially in the sills
Looks great considering it was in a field for 15 years, defo a keeper for the right person with Time and Money/
It's a 2.5 I-4 and it needs the timing belt changed before attempting to start it. Also, much too nice to use as a donor. Love the gold, perfect '80s hue
I’m an ex detailer too, retired now, l always thought Gold cars popped, liked them however my favourite colour of all time is BMW Techno Violet, what a gorgeous colour ❤
I still can't figure out why this car ended up in the salvage yard. It looks savable. Big question for me is if the automatic transmission has failed. That might have been the reason it was taken off the road.
I like the gold; it's more unique than most of the 944s you see on the road today.
I don't see many of these on the road anymore, I think it should be salvaged! My favorite color of cars is silver. Great transformation after your awesome detail!!!
suka kalo ngeliat orang sana untuk detailinmg mobil, rapi, bersih, memperhatikan safety dirinya paka sarung tangan. asik pokoknya. impian bisa nglakuin begini tapi belum ada mobilnya hehehe
My fav colour for cars is a nice Forrest green
That's a classic car, don't swap or change any parts , it's worth more in original condition, definitely worth restoring.
Hi,Guys thanks for the Great content.I would keep this car as is.I would keep the gold color and engine too.Love these 944s.Happy Veterans Day and Thank You.Respect the Men and Women of the armed forces!
That looks so satisfying washing that car 💯
A friend of mine bought one just like it about 10 year's ago, but was white, V-8 Porsche, was amazed at much of the design, and engineering that went into this work of art, fyi as of 1983, this was the fastest production car, and the darn thing had tubes in the electronics for goodness sake, hope ot all works out for you, a true gem
I'd love to know the back story about this 944 since these were fairly pricey cars when they were new. Personally, I would try and get it running because few cars say 80s style as successfully as a 944 Porsche. This car, and its gold color, screams big hair, glitter, and Calvin Klein Obession colonge!
I would have called a locksmith to make a new key.
Had one of these back in the day. 1987 Porsche 944 manual in ruby red metallic. Very fine handling, underpowered but an overall beautiful spirited driving machine.
Nice video, looks pretty clean at the end. I love the music.
Would love to see what you eventually do with it. Will there be a part 2? If I could, I would salvage it. It actually looks great after the clean. I know we can't smell it and you'd need to strip it down to find out what else needs replacing but it appears to be complete. I would go for the salvage and staying with the gold.
Gold is a classic color for this car. It's just what a 944 is from the 80's. So, cool seeing it revieled just after wash.
Pressure washing the hood had to be ssoooo rewarding. Love my ‘83-944, it’s champagne metallic. I say keep the gold!
I would keep that gold car cause it’s actually pretty clean and you could sell it and buy a crate motor for your Porsche and still have money left over
That car has potential. If your mechanic is any good why not try to get that one running. Interior looked in decent shape.
Stunned at how good the paint looks!!
The floorboards look good still after all these years.😊❤️
Why don’t you just get this one running instead of all the work swapping engines🤗🤗
I’m surprised it ended up in the junk yard. It’s body condition appears to be amazingly rust-free for a car of that age from northeast Ohio. Although that gold exterior isn’t my first choice for that car, it isn’t bad. It’s biggest deficiency is the automatic transmission. It should definitely be saved.
The upholstery looks great too.😊
My first Porsche was a 1983, brand new 944 guards red. Started my Porsche progression into 5 more Porsches all red vehicles.
I'm curious to know why it was abandoned. Automatic transmission on a car like this is definitely not my style. I really dig the vids...keep 'em coming!!
You guys are like magicians detailing these cars. They start out a piece of coal and you turn them into diamonds. So cool.
There is something immensely satisfying watching someone wash a car😂
Gold is a delicious 1980s colour!
My favourite car colours are baby blue, royal blue, dark green metallic, purple and even lilac
Porsches original outstanding colours at that point of time late 70's till mid 80's metallic maroon.
Jim Rockford's firebird(s) sure looked good in gold.
Very nice colour, perfect gold for classic.
I don’t know how I found this channel last night, but once I did, I couldn’t stop watching 😂 great videos
That's actually a great looking car and I don't mind the gold color with brown interior at all surprisingly. 👍
I have watched many autos being detailed, and I think the dry ice method is the best and least destructive.
I’ve owned 3 944’s and regretted selling every one. Truly fantastic, well-built cars with an incredibly balanced driving experience.
That car looks like it feels better. Fantastic job.
