Story Time: I was at my local music store, in their acoustic room, trying out some guitars. When this old couple walks in, looking around, they seemed like they were just passing through town, visiting, decided to stop in and see the guitars. So I'm still playing guitar, minding my business.. Then the man and the woman approached me, just gazing at the guitar I was playing, enjoying it,. So I sort of stopped playing, figured they'd want to talk to me. Then the man asked me if They could just, listen in on me playing, I happily agreed. So I continue to play THIS song, "All Laid Back and Stuff" They seemed very, very into the song, They really enjoyed it, and thanked me so much for playing for them. It was the first time that's ever happened to me. I was so glad to make their day that way. Thank you, Mr. McKee. For all the amazing music you bring in this world for the little moments Like this.
90 people need to be lashed for misuse of the like button. I could listen to this guitar god play for the rest of my life. Gives me hope for the human race.
There's your answer right there. I'd guess 50% of the comments are from life-less TH-cam twits who have little better to do than trolling around down-thumbing things that others find enjoyable. The other 50% found this video through searching the word "laid".
to the 60 people who hit the dislike button, please for the love of god...never EVER listen to any form of music you clearly do not understand talent at its highest form Andy you are a true musician
Amazing. His level of mastery is so high that the mechanics of playing no longer matter. It is in the realm of pure expression. And I love that he has those deep resonate bass lines coming from the same instrument.
Andy McKee has made my life so much better since I was introduced to his music. He is a phenomenal musician both technically and emotionally. I feel like the fact that there are ONLY 62 dislikes is absolutely incredible. 62/1,228,597 is only .00005% of the views and .0136% of people that actually commented about whether they like it or not. That's just plain amazing that it still does not even reach a tenth of a percent.
I bet the way he got the name, is because he was playing it at first (Knowing what to name it..) and some hippy came to see him and said, "Dude..That sounds like...All.. laid back..And stuff, man.. Nice."
Dynamorphic .. LOL .. that's nice explanation .. but he explains it everytime he plays at a gig.. One of his friends called him up when he was composing this track, the friend went "how's it goin man".. And Andy goes "nothing.. all laid back n stuff".. and that got stuck to the tune.
Dynamorphic old comment, but dude you’re basically 100% right XD. He was playing it for one of his buddies and he said”that’s all laid back in stuff”. So yeah that’s where the title came from. You sir are a profit
He writes all of his own songs, completely by himself. When someone writes something like that, it comes from the heart, not from lessons. It is a gift from God.
I find myself listening to Andy every now and then. and i always get stuck.. thinking, i should probably get something done. but just cant stop watching more.
Personal thank you to Andy for this song. Got me to learn acoustic guitar and it's still the only song I've learned to play. I never get bored of playing it.
This song takes me to a far away place, a place of perfect harmony with life and death. Listening makes me cherish life and the uniqueness of sound while being human. Knowing that I will die, this song validates my existence. Thank you.
My advice to those 73 (now) people - PRACTICE, PRACTICE, PRACTICE!!!!! Hard work will outshine natural talent 100% of the time :) - and I'm sure that Andy McKee would agree with me.
whats most amazing is that he takes us all away from here. its 4:30 in the morning here in chicago and it jus started to snow bout an hour ago, its so peaceful out and the song here makes it so much better, as we evolved we used sounds and later music to convey emotions, tell storys and such what i think andy mcgee proves is that we can all still be human but the world atm is putting an end to that, he is clearly free of these constraints and reaching effortlessly into his mind and giving to all.
This makes guitarists that come on the radio sound like a bunch of noise that is in tune together. Andy's on the other hand, tells a story with no words.. An aesthetic journey from beginning to end [ =
I don't get tired of listening to this.. Such a beautiful sound to my ears.. And there're some jerks who disagree with the good comments and this excepctional video/talent! Great man!
I was 19 when I first heard this and had just started playing guitar trying to figure out which way I was gonna go.. After watching Andy I dropped my pick and never looked back. Now here we are 15 years later, and I still feel the same way.. So, from my 34 year old self to my 19 year old self.. This is one decision you made that stuck. Thank you Andy Mckee. P.S If you want to learn Andy Mckee songs their isn't a better song than this one to start out with. it'll teach you the basics of his songs and remember no matter the song of his stay "All Laid back And Stuff" don't force it, and just let it happen.
This song reminds me of a peaceful, spring time bike ride. Flowers blooming all around, trees with fresh leaves sprouting, A gentle blue sky with tufts of clouds slowly passing by. Reaching your destination atop a grassy hill, lying down, and being laid back and stuff. Very lovely song
This is my favorite song of his. On sunny days in the spring, I head out to the Quad, climb in a cherry tree, and turn this on. Best relaxation music around.
I have been listening to his music for a few years now. Nothing more relaxing than to play this music on Sunday morning with a cup of coffee and the newspaper. Heaven. His new CD 'Joyland' is great as well - came out this week.
i never got how people could dislike andy. im a metal head thru and thru, like children of bodom and in flames are my favorite bands metal head. but this guy has just pure unadulterated talent and his music has a soul of its own. believe me his music is not my style but he's that good that it doesnt matter
His rhythym is incredible. Not just one, but both hands demonstrate an excellent sense of rhythym and lead that are easily interchangeable between the two. A truly talented man.
How can you not love Andy ? The expression on his face is enough to melt the hardest heart! Now imagine the rush of emotions, memories and faces that go through his head while playing the song...
By far his easiest song to play, and yet still one of the best. So beautiful, relaxed and composed. I love playing this song, it just flows so perfectly and fluidly. The simple fact he composed this still sends shivers to my fingers...
You can just see the emotion and heart that Andy plays with. A true master of his craft. He is like no other guitarist I've seen. Keep writing Andy and I will keep listening/watching!
I just saw Andy perform this song (and many others) LIVE last night. I was so blown away! He then hung out for meet and greet! Cant wait to see him again, it was amazing from the the second row 10 feet away! Loving it here in Minneapolis Andy, looking forward to the new CD!!
I just got to go see Andy play Live last night. He was AWESOME ;-D!! No hard to hear, or flubbed notes. He sounded superb. He brought two $20K custom Greenfield guitars, & his harp guitar w/him. I got to meet & chat w/him afterwards. He's a sincere, very friendly, down to Earth guy. Thank You, Andy. Now, if only he could convince Don Ross to come south from Canada w/him...
thats it m8. hit the nail on the head there. i play afew instruments myself n its a long mountainous journey geting to a decent enough level. i cant imagine a world without music, playing is such an escape. iv allways seen it as the perfect way of chaneling your soul and how you feel inside. who cares if ure as good as the next person, jus play how you feel.
as soon as i heard this song i knew i had to play it, as soon as i grabbed my guitar and started playing it i actually felt "all laid back and stuff" this song is awesome! and i will play it as much as possible

Rest In Peace Leslie
Leslie?
If only people looked at each other the way Andy looks at his guitar
I freaking love this comment.
Andy Mckee doesn't even need to sing. He has enough emotion in his songs. Absolutely beautiful.
90 people need to be lashed for misuse of the like button. I could listen to this guitar god play for the rest of my life. Gives me hope for the human race.
who in their right mind could have a problem with this?

"talent"
He writes all of his own songs, completely by himself. When someone writes something like that, it comes from the heart, not from lessons. It is a gift from God.
You contradict yourself...
despite being one of his easier songs (i can actually play it), it is still one of his greatest in my opinion
I know I’m necro-posting here. But the greatness of music is not in its technicality.
i could sit in my boat, casting for bass and listen to andy all day long!!! very nice!!! keep up the great work!!!
Video only at 240p for safety reasons...
Haha!
It's songs like this that remind me there's still a beauty in the world worth waking up for...

Just when you think you have heard it all , along comes a dude like Andy McKee.... When you have it , you have it. WOW!
This reminds me of August Rush

Another of Andy's beautifully played, peaceful songs...
I love everything about this, Andy is a master of every aspect, but the thing that amazes me is the harmonics he uses, so cleanly...
This song is one of the MOST soothin arrangements of acoustic guitar I've ever heard. Love listening to it and watching it!
My advice to those 73 (now) people - PRACTICE, PRACTICE, PRACTICE!!!!!
Hard work will outshine natural talent 100% of the time :) - and I'm sure that Andy McKee would agree with me.
Very nice music, I Pray who ever sees this be successful in life ❤

This guy is a master of inter-twining harmonics into the flow of his music for sure.
