      Hahaha spoken like a true idiot! I would never encourage kids to waste their money on college. Aquire skills. And when you have them. Get more skills. Educate yourself financially in the mean time. Read self help books. Stop watching t.v and looking at fb or watching videos that don't add value to your life. This roofer (me) has built multiple homes, roofed a 1,000 houses. Done all kinds of interior and exterior remodels. Bought a flip house (cash) $43,500. And makes more money off TH-cam (only 7 months uploading regularly) than he ever did working for (the man) . I have no boss. And don't ever let me find you on this channel giving advice to this great countries youth again!

      Worlds Fastest Shingler
      Well said Brother. Learn some skilled trades and make yourself more marketable.. if not marketable at least handle your OWN home repairs and not rely on everyone with TRADE skills to do your work for you. I do feel it’s important to get an education but I also feel it’s good to get your fingers dirty and learn some things that will help you save thousands if not more in a lifetime. If someone is doing this and is happy with their life and there is a roof over their families head and food on the table then it’s a job well done. Keep up good work man!

      @@CalebNorris16 yes absolutely! Most Need college for sure. but I just don't like how every adult and teacher tells kids that shit like its the way to go. No its the way to debt. It's a way to a slow start. Truth is teachers have very little financial education themselves professors included. 2 books that seriously elaborate on this topic are "think and grow rich" (chapter about general knowledge vs applied knowledge specifically) and the first 60 or so FUNNY pages of "rich dad poor dad"

    No question, this dude is good. I'm not a roofer by profession but I've been forced to do a few and an 8 pitch is fairly steep (won't catch me on anything more without staging for certain). I know I'm a definite rookie because when I try to lay them vertically (without completing the row) like he was doing I always end up screwing something up and doing a valley - well that's something I have to stop and think about.

    • @amazingcaucasian1
      @amazingcaucasian1 3 ปีที่แล้ว +10

      Most roofers get paid by the day not the hour. We don't mess around. Theres alot I can say to validate this guys skills. His nail pattern is on point. His awareness of waste is second to none. Many roofers waste material because it doesn't come out of their pocket but time does when you run short half a bundle and have to wait an hour for someone to get what you need to finish the job. On that pitch I would use a stocker or feeder to sit on the peak and feed me shingles but alot of factors play in to whether or not that makes sense for him. I also like how he bunches the shingle wrapper up when he's done with it. If he had laborers or never was a laborer he'd let it blow in the wind not giving a crap. That makes me think this is his job and he's gonna have to clean up at the end of the day so he's making clean up as easy as possible for himself

    • @-0ctupus
      @-0ctupus 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@amazingcaucasian1 well some people get paid by the bundle when you roof. I been roofing for 16 years myself. So saving your boss the extra bundle ain’t saving you nothing. Unless it’s your company than you want everyone to use there pieces when cutting them off the edge and use them in the valley.

    • @TestElepine
      @TestElepine 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I get paid by the hour but I also work like him to a point this will be my tenth year roofing 6th season as an installer and things like waste and making clean up simple is always on my mind because it makes the day go by faster plus when I'm done installing we can get in are trucks and go straight home, the laborers can clean up faster because I wasn't a dick just throwing my shit just anywhere lol same concept for waste cleaning up 100 tiny little pieces all over the roof is time consuming XD I don't mind long days but I also like doing shit that's not work haha like who really likes this working for money thing it's kinda shitty

    • @guichozuniga7385
      @guichozuniga7385 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      When I did roofing we got paid by the day.. and these Mexicans would have us working 12 to 14 hours a day!!! Oh but you gonna get "100" for sure oh wait but if we took long to finish a house you get paid less than a "100" per day... That sht didn't add up... Specially since I spoke English I got to see how much they get per house or the BOSS and they do get paid Good! It's just they don't pay their workers good... So I left.. I got tired of hearing " you wanted the US" "it's more than what you make in Mexico" but we are not in MEXICO or Mexican economy.. and also their favorite line "what all can you do at they job? Lol its weird. I agree about the body though! The pop up info about singling the valleys was great .lots of people get lost or start climbing up hill or going downhill when they run the valley up. Quality workmanship probably at the end of the day depending on dressing and starting the roof lays 8 to 10 square a day depending on wide open areas .if it's wide and tall straight run he would do real good in a day .its the starting drip edge , ice and water and paper that kill your average .nice job tho it goes good when it's all set up

I nailed perhaps 100 roofs before I had my first gun. A thrower for a hand nailer,, invaluable. The second,,, I love canoes, long distance, camp along the way, out for weeks at a time,,, canoes ROCK !

Great boots gave me a new world of confidence when I climbed on the roof wearing a pair... all in all though great videos I've learned a ton

    Great video.
    I wish the black material in the valley and the felt-buster material was like a membrane that would instantly seal around all nails and tiny holes, kind of like tire slime does.
    Some kind of wasp or hornet ate some perfectly round holes in my roof. It is an asphalt shingle roof just like the one in the video and plywood underneath and I'm assuming tar paper.
    I will start checking my attic for sun light coming through more often and blacking plywood.
    Great video. Keep up the good work.

    I run two shingles up the valley. You could have had the outside one nailed and valley shingle butted before you were done messing with lining up the valley shingles. You're going back down to add the second row every few so why not do them both at once? Less trips up and down and straight everytime without even thinking.

That is the way to do a valley. 8 and 12 yea baby. Would like to see a hard foam wedge made with soft foam on top and bottom and some sort of handle. would help the ankle burn.
