  • If you're looking for a challenging Thai language school in Bangkok, Duke Language School on Sukhumvit Soi 13 (Trendy Building) might be for you. I recently started the Journey 3 class and this is my quick review (after completing the second day of class).
Disclaimer - I am paying full price for this class (8000 Baht + 500 Baht for the text book) and will continue to pay normal prices for any future classes. Duke is not sponsoring, reimbursing or paying me in any way.

When I lived in Taiwan I noted the foreigners that learned quickly were the ones who only hung out with local people who could not speak anything but Chinese. Unfortunately, that was not me. I had a ton of book learning, and could read a lot, but speaking was a challenge. All on me for hanging out with too many English speakers when I was there.

I'm doing private lessons for Journey 1 because they were full, then starting Journey 2 in group classes at the end of October. Glad to hear it's a serious school because I do want to learn - but now I'm also a little scared 😅

Great video. On an unrelated topic, have you thought of what to do about extending your Elite visa which will expire after August 15th? Will you do a video on that or discuss cons and pros? Thanks

I meant you have to decide to extend it until August 15 or you’ll lose that 15 years extension option!

I wonder if this is the right class to take online.

I have no experience with duke online classes, but you won't get the full classroom experience. No talking with the teacher/other students during the breaks. You can't hang out with other students away from class. It's also tougher on the instructor trying to read your body language on whether you understand something.

Each course is 8000 baht + 500 baht for the book. There are 9 courses and each course lasts a month.
