    I believe any foreigner who chooses to live in any non-English speaking country should learn the local language. You are in Thailand so it's not the obligation of the Thai's to know how to speak English but rather, it's incumbent on you to learn the local language. Thai people appreciate that you try to speak their language.

      And boyoboy, Thai takes a lot of trying!

      @@jeannerogers7085 - With practice, anyone can become fluent. I am fluent in 3 languages. English, Thai and Spanish. You just have to commit and practice! Look at the Mormon missionaries; they come back from their missionary work fluent in their assigned countries.

    This school is highly recommended. Their methods are styled to individuals. I was extremely satisfied.

      However I wonder how you learn to pronounce the words since as far as I know there are no standard alphabets spelling like IPA for English learners.

    • @GoodLifeinChiangMaiThailand

      @@Jimmy-sb7mk well there you hit the nail on the head. To learn Thai, we need to forget about hunting an official IPA and listen to the (various) ways Thai people pronounce. I spent many years relying on karaoke phonetics and it conflicted with what I heard daily. Learning to read & write and listening to Thai pronunciation is in my opinion the better way of learning. Thanks for taking time to comment 🙏

    You can pay all the bills via some mobile apps such as PEA (electricity) ,PWA (water), AIS (intenet/mobile), 3BB or you can make payments via your bank's app (Kbank, SCB, etc.) I have paid all the bills via mobile for more than 5 years. There are other online options as well.

    Thanks so much for this. I've seen a few of your video's and they've been very helpful. I've checked out this school and it looks really good. I'm looking at accommodation now and was wondering if this school is near some nice condo's that are cheap and walkable plus safe. Many thanks, Zoe

      It is in the hang dong area of Chiang Mai. There’s not too many condos in that area, but there are some within 15 minutes.

    I learned Thai from people who did not speak any English, that's the way babies learn and it's the best way,.There are millions of people here you don't need to go to school, they will teach you one word at a time.

      @@TheNarrowGate So glad to hear the classes are going well! We were thinking of getting an ED Visa by taking the language classes. What type of visa are you two on, if I may ask?

    Thanks for sharing! Thanks to your videos, I'm looking at going to Chiang Mai with my wife, and also learning Thai.
    I always enjoy watching your videos. Cheers~
    On a side note, I saw from google map that Hang Dong is pretty close to the airport, so how's the plane noise at your house?
    Thanks~

    I was wondering, does beginner course start several times a year, and will intermediate course follow shortly after beginner course?

    • @TheNarrowGate
      @TheNarrowGate  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Yes, the beginner course does start several times a year. I think intermediate may take about a year. It really depends on your effort and if you are going on a group class pace or private class pace determined by your effort.

    what happens if you misprounce the tones? would a Thai speaker know that you made mistake?

    • @TheNarrowGate
      @TheNarrowGate  ปีที่แล้ว

      You would think so but half the time, no.

    Learning the numbers 1-21 helps immensely, so much in languages is number related especially shopping, buying, age (they always ask), etc ….I’ll be checking out schools when I get back but the online classes are good for now 🙏🏻kop for vid

    Question, what are those Music Codes?

    • @TheNarrowGate
      @TheNarrowGate  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      They are license codes for the music so the video doesn’t get flagged for music copyright claims.
