Rob Talks Hockey you don’t hear much about the flyers trading basically there entire team to set up that avalanche team who won multiple cups with forseburg leadings the way.
Nonsense. If Ottawa had any idea how good Mika Zibanajad would become, they would have never traded him. No team ever wants to give away a superstar, not even Ottawa.
Albert Vanular Although I felt similar to OP, but I agree with you. The value Ottawa received in return for Mika says it all, really. And I liked Brassard in Ottawa.
With what the sens got back from the trade they actually didn’t do that bad, if you include the package they got back from when they moved brassard on it wasn’t really that bad of a deal, considering zibanejad didn’t look like he’d pan out at the tome
Crynzd yet was completely avoidable if certain leaders took appropriate action fast enough. Which they didn’t. I recall one of said leaders calling this virus a hoax just 14 days ago
The Zibanejad trade was terrible. Ottawa had a young team and if given time to mature would have been decent (Karlsson, Stone, Zibanejad...). For financial reasons they needed to make the playoffs and given they had a superstar defenceman on a very good contract (6.5 m) they decided they needed to be in a "win now" mode (I think the organization felt they had to prove to Karlsson he could win here). This was an awful approach and I doubt works for any team that decides it doesn't need to be patient with a maturing young team. I just don't think you can skip that process. Needless to say Ottawa also made other studip moves, like trading for Bobby Ryan as they gave up other young players and picks (Silfverberg, Noesen and a first). Ryan never lived up to the trade or the contract he signed in Ottawa. They also misevaluated the team after one good playoff run and thought they were one player away from the finals, hence they traded to get Duchene.
I thought it was strange when Ottawa got rid of silferberg (idk how to spell that) lol and zibenajad. They had two young players at that time and had nothing to show for it after
YES! Finally someone giving Danault his credit! He’s so underrated, he’s been the best forward on the habs for the last 2 years and I’d hate it if he was ever moved
Even if those were just rumors, there were a lot of other confirmed events that showed how being in boston by himself wasnt the greatest thing for an immature player. He would have probably figured it out eventually, but I dont think he becomes the player that he is today if he remained in boston.
@@TheHenryDuong Kessel was traded because he wouldn't play defense and didn't score enough for that to be ok. Wheeler was traded because although he did decent on scoring, he wasn't playing his physical game that he likes to play now. It had nothing to do with wanting to keep Bergeron and Krejci.
The funniest part about the Zibanejad trade, and i’m not shitting you, the rangers fans were FURIOUS when Brassard left. Cause they thought that mika would at the peak of his career put up as many points as Brassard did at that time. But that he’d do that in years to come. He moved from being unwanted in Ottawa at a third-line center position. Now he’s one of the best Centers in the league. I’ve projected his success all along ever since I saw his first goal on a professional level with Djurgården against MoDo in 2010 when he was only seventeen!
Bruins acquiring Tuukka Rask for Andrew Raycroft can be considered as a "consolation prize" for trading prospect Ken Dryden right after drafting him in return of Guy Allen and Paul Reidd. Man could you imagine Ken Dryden on the net with Bobby Orr on the blueline.
I always felt like the the Bruins front office used Seguin as the scapegoat for losing the Cup to Chicago that year. I think one of the people in that room said "if he put up half the goals Patrick Kane did, we'd have the Cup." Not one piece of that deal remains a Bruins asset and that trade resulted in a total loss for the organization. Loui left in free agency, and the Bruins traded Reilly Smith along with Marc Savard's contract for Jimmy Hayes. Matt Fraser and Joe Morrow never amounted to much either. The Bruins traded a star player, and then also let a solid top 6 forward in Reilly Smith go for a bag of pucks. As a B's fan this trade makes my blood boil.
the irony the reason they lost was because the hawks were skating around the bruins players...funny cause here in the city , people were worried about what sequin could do because of hi speed
That honestly is what makes me worried about Fabian Lysell. He's a skillful speedy kid. Will he suffer the same fate as Seggy because he isn't made of grit and sandpaper like Marchand? Grit and sandpaper has forced us to keep Brandon fucking Carlo in a starting position for way too long, and is likely the reason we drafted Trent Frederic over Alex DeBrincat (I like Freddy, but god damn over the Big Cat?!) If there's one thing that this past offseason made clear, its that Don Sweeney is as clueless as Chiarelli. I don't entirely understand trading Dan Vladar, but having that kinda depth at young goalie can turn into a log jam real quick, but i especially dog understand why they gave that massive a contract to Linus Ullmark. But that isnt the worst of it. Letting Ondrej Kase go in free agency is proving to be catastrophic, as he alone has more goals this year than any Bruins FA pickup, and it doesn't exactly help when our biggest goal source of those players is a defenseman who had never topped 3 goals in a season prior. Kase has 8 goals Derek Forbort has 4 goals, Tomas Nosek has 2, Erik Haula has 1, and $3.8M No Movement Clause Foligno has 0
Great video and great channel man! Keep it up! By the way are you going to be doing more of your NHL 20 Franchise mode cause I certainly enjoyed that a lot

The reason why the Sens got rid of Zibanejad was because of money (remember we're talking about the cheapest team in the league) Zibanejad was a year away from being a RFA and the Sens knew he would ask for a huge raise. Meanwhile Brassard still had three years on his contract at a reasonable 5 million. So the Sens didn't give up on Zibanejad because they didn't think he was good. They traded him to save money. That's how Melnyk does business
Mika got paid 5.350 when he was a RFA by NYR. Was that 350k really worth trading a potential #1 C (who turned out to be a top 20 player in the league) for a decent 2nd line C/great 3rd line C who was making 5 mil? No, no it wasn’t, don’t try to sugar coat it. That was a terrible trade by OTT

Zibanejad actually has 41 goals this year, but I'm guessing you made this before the last 2 games
*It was be careful what you say what he actually has than this video was made*
Crynzd that’s not english
Never understood why people think or thought Bobrovsky was so good.
Brassard's 2 BILLION dollar bonus???? Wow...I know, I know it's 2 million, it just sounded like you said billion
U never said why the senators traded zabinejad. They traded him because he wasn’t serious about hockey
well after this season.... evidently he is
The Sens don't make any sense...
How dare u say Rask won the cup in 2011!! Lol. I totally agree with him on this list and yes he was on the cup winning roster but Tim Thomas was in absolute beast mode that year and dominated the post season, winning the cup.
Yep very true, he was on the team then lolol. Still he had a great regular season along side of Thomas
Do the redraft of the 2013 draft
I was at that 5 goal game Mika is a fricken beast
You can assume based on a projection
I think the panarin trade was good
RIP in the chat for the dude who traded Mika
Granted, the top guys in the NBA draft are like 19-20
Bobrovsky is one of the worse in Florida. He went from the NHL best to the NHL's worse
Kipper? Markus Naslund? Loungo?
Y’all gotta chill with Carter Hart, he had ONE good season ONE !
You forgeting Gomez for McDonaugh trade............
preds kill offense , why?!
Did he say 3 *BILLION $* bonus?
It sucks zibanajed would of had a 50 goals season if it didn’t get cancelled
Sabres gave up on O'Reilly too soon
Bishop to the Senators?
According to Boston sports radio, Seguin was traded because he was getting with Horton's wife
ottawa has a horrid history of trading away great players before they came into their own. cough cough chara cough cough.
