    What impresses me the most is how skilled and physical imposing these guys are. Still I just can't comprehend how these kids become so far advanced not only skill wise but with skating and their presence. Honestly its truly amazing

    • @dancarpentieri7762
      @dancarpentieri7762 3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Have you seen Michkov? He's far from physically imposing. Sure he's just turning 16 but he's a skinny kid. Where as Ovechkin at age 15-16 was already had a grown man body - that is physically imposing. Bedard is also very naturally thin and narrow.

    • @dbcb1997
      @dbcb1997 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@dancarpentieri7762 tbf that’s what kind of body was needed for hockey then. We’re transitioning to a more finesse league and this is the next generation. But you’re right though, even bedard is pretty thin.

    • @BSlaughter12
      @BSlaughter12 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Both guys are fairly short for hockey players, 5'9-10"right now (I know they're only 16 and could grow a few more inches). If michkov's listed weight of 160 on ep is correct, he'll need to gain some mass. Bedard on the other hand is already 180 at 5'9. Both guys are smaller than Ovi and Crosby at 16

    • @realcade

    I feel like it is important to note the weaker draft class for this year will have an effect on u18 tournaments allowing stronger players like these guys to have inflated points totals. Draft year will be the real test for these guys. Not saying this to take away from these guys cause they are obviously ahead of their peers but this success might not translate.

    • @TylerAven10
      @TylerAven10 3 ปีที่แล้ว +17

      That’s not really fair, this draft class is not thin, it just has zero elite talent. The class is deep despite what pundits wanna say and there’s plenty of first round talent in this class. The best players win because they’re the best, not because of “a weak draft class”. And besides, it’s not like every U18 tournament is nothing but elite talent. In fact, many top picks skip the U18s because they’re too good for that level so your argument is bad in that case too.

      @@TylerAven10 Hey. you make some really good points. The lack of the elite talent doesn't take away from the fact many of the players that would go mid or late first round any year. I just meant that the level of competition for some of the tournaments hasn't been what we are used to. that could be cause of shortened seasons, strange off seasons due to Covid, travel difficulties. the 21 draft class might look really great in 2 or 3 or 4 years but I just think that the best talent (like the ones Rob talks about) look even better than they normally would.

    Assuming Kingston doesn't change much up, Wright's line is going to be INSANE once the OHL starts back up. As if Wright's pure talent wasn't enough on its own, now he's flanked by a guy strong enough to outmuscle and outplay experienced professional hockey players, while putting up almost a point per game in the AHL in Zayde Wisdom. Combine that with extra help from Chromiak who's had a solid season of his own in the Czech pro league, and they look damn near unstoppable

      @@thegreatbadon8033 LA is in a good situation though. I think they should aim for one of those guys regardless how mad Doughty gets because I wouldn’t want Byfield & Turcotte going through a rebuild in there prime yrs to make Dewy happy right now by ruining it. I want that killer core of Byfield, Turcotte & 2 more legit lottery players. You’re right though, LA has too many centers, too many that eventually time will go & won’t be able to keep them all. That’s why I felt like this yr was the yr they got there defenseman for the future to build that core. If they trade up to get a Luke Hughes, Brandt Clarke or even 1st Overall to pick Owen Power, they’ll be in good hands. That 8th Overall Pick & a guy like Samuel Fagemo would get clubs considering it. Byfield, Turcotte & one of those 3 defensemans would put LA in a GREAT situation. But the dream would be Bedard. Him & Byfield together in black and white just sounds awesome.

    The 2021 NHL Draft doesn't really have that many Child Prodigies other than Aito Iguchi or the other Japanese player in this draft. In 2022 Not really but there are REALLY good players in that draft. (Savoie - Wright - Lambert - Jack Hughes - Tristan Luneau) In 2023, There are a couple child prodigies. (Like Michkov, Bedard, and even Adam Fantilli)

    Okay, the Calder should NOT be voted on. It goes the player who was most proficient at the end on their rookie season. Just give it to the rookie who has the most points overall. If theres a tie, THEN vote, but dont vote if its not.

      What a dumb comment 🤦🏼‍♂️ Value is determined by much more than points totals. You'd give it to a winger with 100 pts and no defense vs a Center with 99 pts, a good two-way game who also wins faceoffs and who's team makes the playoffs?
      Your suggestion on points total is flat out stupid

    One thing that must be noted about both Crosby and Ovechkin that has not been noted about these players here is that when scouts brought out the tape measures and scales, they realized that neither Alex nor Sid were finished growing physically, nor were they even close to filling out their frames, meaning that they still had not finished developing physiologically either. And THAT was the OMG realization about those two. Ovi is built a lot likeGordie where as Sid physically is similar to Mario.

    I'm not sure that your statement that the MHL is comparable to the CHL is remotely close to being the truth. The MHL might be comparable to junior A, at best. And even that's a stretch.

    • @RobTalksHockey
      @RobTalksHockey  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I was moreso comparing it in terms of league structure. MHL = CHL, VHL = AHL, NHL = KHL. Talent is actually hard to compare. Scoring is way down, and they play a very different style. But yeah more so BCHL, AJHL, etc.

    • @gregpost3320
      @gregpost3320 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@RobTalksHockey Understood. There are some strong teams in the MHL. I was reviewing their standings last year to try and gauge how tough the competition was for the Russian kid that scored a ton of goals in the world U18's. They seem to stock the top teams with the best players and then there are a bunch of minnows for the top teams to feed on. So the top teams might at least be competitive with the BCHL teams and the like.
