Instead of trying to make a corvette e-ray, they should have gone for prius. Take a z125 and add a motor, call it a Ninja 3 Hybrid. Giga commuter status.
Thanks for the video, I think this might be of interest to someone commuting but for someone who likes the sound of the engine and changing gears it's not really going to cut it, certainly not for me as part of the motorcycle experience comes from the sound and being in full control of the bike where Man and bike become one. The gears on the electric motor are an interesting concept, it's a pity we don't see gearboxes in electric cars, reason being, it's mostly not needed but it could mean the opportunity to make low power electric cars work better at higher speeds rather than releasing more and more powerful and much more expensive cars. The other thing I can't stand on bikes are TFT screens, menus, modes, lots of switches, this would drive me nuts and it would be very distracting. The same old issues of higher cost and what happens when it breaks out of warranty ? One huge attraction with bikes is many of them are very simple, if something goes wrong they are easy fix unless it's one of those bikes with all the tech. I think we need to go back to just simple and basic, cars are so complex now they are almost disposable out of warranty if something happens.
Crazy that you don’t life TFT displays. I love them. I like that they provide info such as Bluetooth connectivity, they show lots of engine data like temp numbers instead of gauges, gear indicators, detailed trip meters including mpg, drive time, etc.
@@jetta.josh4 I can understand TFT on commuter bikes maybe but I prefer the analogue clocks , they just look far nicer. I don't need to be distracted with anything while riding, I just want to ride, man and machine no tech , as little as possible. I work in I.T , deal with tech all the time, have tech at home , ipads, phones etc, the bike is my escape from the modern world and looking into screens which have taken over so many people's lives.
These small motorcycles are already extremely efficient. All that weight and complexity for what? Yes the tech is "cool" until they break. Too expensive to justify buying this over a standard Ninja.
Nice to see Kawasaki still being innovative! Alex, you could not have explained better on the tech side. The bike is not for everyone. New tech and fancy first run, always comes at a price. More great content from Alex and Kase!
They should have use the ninja 650 engine with a different bore and stroke and make it a true 700cc .as a owner of a ZX7R the use of the 7 on this is pure sacrilege
As a novelty it cool. To be first or one of the first in the market is brave, it might not be a first bike but next to your first or second gen Prius, it might be fun
Super cool that you were able to try it. I own a 2021 4XE I bought new. Love the EV mode in town, sure I only work 7 miles from home, but as you, I love the tech! I have 2 Electric MTBs and a scooter. Thank you for the quick review!
Well, Alex, I did not hear the enthusiasm in your voice on this one. I am guessing it does not get your wheels turning enough to consider it for a purchase. And I respect your view on it. One gets a couple extra features that one would not get on a standard Ninja and a smidgen more Eco range. But is that worth the extra thousands of dollars? I say no. You get more weight, you lose your foot shifter. You gain status for being in the new tested hybrid market. And if this does not catch on, you might have a bike worth a few more penny's on resale down the road. As a quiet bike with adequate to good get up and go, I think it would look outstanding in Black. Black with the hybrid color going down the side of the bike. Almost TRON like graphic.
oh man you missed to test the best thing... when you are in sport mode and standing still, press the eboost button until the bar on the display is flashing, and when you ready then full throttle... that thing flys of the line like a 1000cc bike.
I laughed at this contraption Kawi made. But I talked to some friends and tbh it's a good idea. If you have a custom exhaust, leaving late night, or coming up to some dog walkers. You could turn on EV mode and go silent for a bit. I can see myself getting one just for commuting. But I wish they would reintroduce a regular shifter.
Favorite part of automatic transmissions on bikes is the inclusion of a reverse gear; makes life much more convenient. Just need a backup camera to clearly see directly behind the bike…
I like that Kawasaki is innovating… but who honestly felt like the ~65 mpg that the ninja 500 gets is a problem? Double the price for 10 extra hp and 10 mpg???
It took the stealership 4 months May to the end of August to fix my 4-hour old KLR 650. They did a terrible job, and it's now December, and my bike is still missing a decal. Good luck with the hybrid motorcycle. I'm sure if anything goes wrong, you'll be fine ......lmfao A KLR 650 has 1 cylinder and 4 decals. Mine is still leaking oil. 1 decal is missing.
So... you're essentially getting a 4 or 5 class bike with a 7 class price tag... that will severely downgrade itself in performance over time when the battery begins to crap out? Did I get that right?
I think this bike is made for EU city laws that ban gas vehicles for in town. at the same time this is a test of the tech so they can get ahead of the market so that are farther along than their competitors. when it comes to the US i think the only really redeeming thing is the off the line performance or people who like being different, outside of that skip it.
It's really nice to see more automatic bikes and now even a hybrid, best of both worlds! Simple to operate and good on range(?), but slow and heavy. Personally, I don't like the styling and colorway, reminds me too much of an electric lawnmower, frankly. The engine doesn't sound great to my ears either. I guess this is the Toyota Prius of motorbikes now.
There is NO point to it. Motorcycle people LIKE an Engine and sound as well as engaging with the Bike through a Clutch/shifting. The people who WOULD like this from a GREEN aspect....HATE Motorcycles! Screw the WOKE signaling and build AFFORDABLE Bikes again Kawi. I will keep riding my '88 Ninja 750 I bought new for 4K!
tbh they probably only made 3 of them. watching the press videos they made it sound like this is a test and they want feedback on what needs to be improved
Not going to sell good. Wrong consumer target. Kamala lost. The requirement will not be there. If I was going to buy any kind of electric bike, I would buy it from an electric bike manufacturer, not Kawasaki or one of the other big three Japanese manufacturers. Leave electric to Surron and companies like that. It’s a different customer.
I heard the same thing about scooters, and yet all the other scooter owners I meet prefer my Suzuki Burgman. I also heard the same thing about the Ford Powerboost, and yet it turned out phenomenal with raving reviews and sales numbers to match.
The value of this is honestly terrible in my opinion. If yall want the BEST value on two wheels, its a scooter. Hands down. Drop the ego and just get one! The Yamaha X Max is $6,200, does 90mph, gets 70mpg and is automatic so its super easy to ride in traffic. If you only ride in the city get the Zuma 125, $3,800 and gets 100mpg! Trust me guys, once you let that ego go its nothing but sweet bliss and LOTS of money saving!
The whole point of motorcycles is not 'for best value'. Wouldn't be caught dead on a scooter. What's blissful about it? I like the engagement of a manual transmission. I like to walk away from my bike and look back and admire it. I like the punch of the acceleration. I have a Yamaha R3 that I paid $4500 for that can do over 100 mph and gets 84mpg. Takes regular fuel, is 30 lbs lighter than an X-max with more horsepower and better brakes and comfortable all day. That's my commuter. My fun bike is more expensive to ride and worth every penny. Still way cheaper than going anywhere in a car.

they have that full ev bike thats basically that
Disagree, there aren't many electrified bikes that look like normal bikes
Thanks for the video, I think this might be of interest to someone commuting but for someone who likes the sound of the engine and changing gears it's not really going to cut it, certainly not for me as part of the motorcycle experience comes from the sound and being in full control of the bike where Man and bike become one.

Fascist governments will make all private transportation illegal, unless it's electronic and they can control it remotely and track you.

I rented a small Ninja in the UK and really liked it for the riding I did. I'd definitely be interested in renting this bike on holiday.

Hard to beat the reliability and reputation of Kawasaki.

Wasn't there a stop sale on these? If so, was the issue resolved?

With those sentiments you probably shouldn't be riding anything but a Goldwing.

Battery is half the cost of the bike and needs replaced every 5-10 years.

I'm just here to comment... I'm just waiting for the new AutoTrans MT-Series reviews.

The ball microwaver. 😅 No thanks
Big fan of Kawasaki, just not This one, Always enjoy input from your content
Nice and quiet if you want to be sneaky for criminal activity. 😂😜
True ‘Ninja’🥷, should be flat black.
But why not keep a clutch lever? No clutch controllability is a deal breaker bro
Shrink the battery by 80% and remove the plug (making it more like a standard hybrid) to reduce the weight, then drop the price by $2.5k
The extra boost is all you really need. The rest of the time, the battery is pointless.
There is no plug......
I like this bike but I have a feeling like since the tech is so new it will brake and if they make a new one it will be much better.
Im interested in this if it like a car hybrid

It's the bike that every teenage girl is hoping to get.
Nice try Greta
This bike got made because she was right and the EU and Asia are adopting these requirements. What a dumb comment.

That is lame as hell. Men don't ride scooters. Girls and boys do. Men have real bikes with real power
No, just no...
