- Here it is!! The highly anticipated video of Kawasaki's first electric bike, the E-1! Let's deep dive into this bike. A lot of you think this bike is just an electric Ninja 400. Let's find out if that's the case.

Honestly, this needs more range and a price adjustment of at the very least 3k, then it could be interesting for the 125 market in Europe
Agreed! A bit lower priced and a bit better power figures are all what this bike needs. Thanks for watching!
@emadreviews honestly, I'm kind of fine with the power, considering who and what it's geared towards. If this thing could cover about 100 miles on a single charge (and not at 30mph), it would be pretty neat
Buy more than 1 battery it has the ability to run off of two and you can have more in your pack. Doesn't have to be the bare minimum if you don't want it to be.
Yah, its a bit expensive for what it is… i had an electric scooter that went fast than this thing and it was $1400
Yeah almost 13k in Canada for this bike is absolutely insane💀
I've got range anxiety just by watching this video!
Its ok just fit a 2 stroke walmart generator on the back to ensure we have offgrid charge option😂😂😂
Then don't buy it, lmao. I think it's outta your price range anyway. :)
@@JoeyMx LOL, douche comment
@@JoeyMxbruh, its cheaper than a 650? Don’t go calling people poor like its a tesla model s plaid
@@Potato-bj9eu for real lmao. lets be honest, this bike is a piece of shit. Top speed of like 50 mph, when I can just buy a 500 lol
So charge it for 8 hours and get about an hour or so of riding? It could get away with not being fast, but to also have no real range on it? Who were these guys thinking this would be for?
Ayo! It has rechargeable No2 like a video game. Hell yea! Vroom vroom!
Essentially yeah
Spoiled kids who want a sport bike, rich parents. And parents who don't want them to do 300kmph
people in big cities? i live in nyc, 1 hour of so is basically all i'd need in weekday.
Yeah there are electric moped scooter with more range and power than this.
HOLY SHIT I was going to give this thing the benefit of the doubt but it's SLOW AS FUCK!
Yep some improvements are needed.
@emadreviews If it were a couple thousand dollars cheaper then MAYBE it would be worth it. Definitely gonna have to rely on the aftermarket to develop go FAST upgrades for this.
Seems like an extremely stylish surron or e-bike
I really like the design, but it‘s around 9k€ and there are electric scooters that have a smiliar top speed, around 50% more range and even 1kW more motor power that just cost 3800€. If it would be 2-3k cheaper, had 50% more range and a NACS (EU: CCS) port to at least have the possibility to charge on the go it would be very cool.
They've clearly stated that they're designed for urban commuting.
still if you gonna make it look like a sports bike, you gotta make them have the backbone too
@@G0nz4x Might as well make it a moped instead
66km range is not enough for urban commuting…
@@KahoGeorg Not for everyone. I guess it's a good thing nobody said you have to buy it. 🙄

This rebuilding boost mode reminds me of the Nintendo game Excitebike ... Where you had BOOST speed for a few seconds and had to let it rest and rebuild or it overheated and you had to pull over.
Sorry im GenX .... btw
It needs at least 150 miles in range, a top speed off 80 mph, and ideally access to standard charging stations. Even then I still wouldn't buy it for that price. Maybe $4,200 with the above reasonable upgrades.
Well maybe a bit more than $4,200 when all those improvements are made to it. But yeah it is pricey for what it is currently. Thanks for watching!
agree with you 100%
With those specs, this could only be a commuter bike in my opinion. For my needs it could be enough, but touring with this bike isn’t really an option - sadly.
On the other hand I really like the look - such a beauty.
e-boost is the most anime thing ever
Most electric cars now have a feature similar to this! It is a bit tacky but I suppose it’s pretty handy to have this feature.
Yeah I actually like this idea, especially if you need to do a quick evasive maneuver
This is pathetic. Not surprised a legacy bike manufacturer would release something this underwhelming. I suspect this is intentionally garbage so as to not cannibalize their gas bikes.
😂😂
seems interesting for there first try at an ev hopefully they can make it better
The bar is set so low that it has nowhere to go but up
Guess what? Here in South East Asia, Underbone 150 is the only reasonable comparison to the ninja E-1 and the underbone still more realistic and better option. Even if you go and bore up the underbone with off-the-shelf 200cc bore up kit, suspension upgrades, semi slick tires, clutch upgrade, exhaust, and tunes, it still cost less than Ninja E-1.
For the price, the only comparison is ZX25RR and the ZX25RR wins by too much lol
How long before somebody starts making souped-up batteries and speed controller? I assume with a little rework it could be a good bit faster
electro&company makes basically what you are asking for, but their stuff is aimed at dirtbikes and atvs.
Just lovely!!
Thanks for the review and test ride of the E1. 45 mph for a smaller scooter type engine is decent, with the look of a nicely-designed Ninja 650 and 400 style sportbike. An interesting start for electric Kawasaki motorbikes.
It’s definitely a great idea! Just needs a bit more power and range and honestly it will take over the market. Can’t go wrong with Kawasaki’s reputation and warranty.
Should look into zero motorcycle full electric 125cc bike top speed 104mph with range of 154 miles
@@Kubilay-he2qcmy big issue with zero is they're just ugly to me and vastly more expensive. A dsr is like h2 money
Too slow. My 400 is like a h2 compared to this
This is sad ...
So it’s essentially an electric Navi?
I like the idea that the batrays are removable for when running an extension cord isnt an option but i wonder if its worth the gimmic, I hope Kawasaki further refines this concept and creates something with double the range and power at this pricepoint. For now I think a second hand option from zero or livewire makes more sense.
Is it 41 miles per battery or is it 41 miles for both batteries?
Both batteries:(
@@emadreviews that sucks
This is a neat bike, but I really don't know who it's meant for. The top speed and range make it unable to ride on the highway at all.
The range, even in the city, makes it non-viable as a commuter. Even when I lived in the city, I rode too far for this thing to compensate.
Also, I own an electric car. The range in cold weather is roughly 20-50% less in the cold weather. That's not a problem when you have 250 miles of range. It's a massive problem with only 41 miles of range.
I dunno. I feel like someone would be better off with an e-bike so they could use the city bike lanes. Or, if they have the money, just buy a Zero S, Livewire Del Mar, or the Energica Eva EsseEsse9. All are too expensive in my opinion, but they're viable.
I am the target market for an electric motorcycle. I even own an EV already. Still, they just don't seem viable at all right now unless you want to spend a boatload of cash.
Good point! The temperature can take a big toll on range. I didn’t even think about it.
It's the first major manufacturer to build one, with a warranty and dealer backup.
The 1st electric cars received the same reception.
4K flat-screens were once 13" B & W furniture.
nice review. You should come here in the philippines and drive that thing here.
That would be cool!
There's no realistic market for this
It's an experiment.
Rich college students
3 kWh total battery capacity can only work in places like Taiwan, where there is a widespread swap station network. Kawa haven't even designed the batteries to be compatible with swap station standards. It needs at least double the battery capacity, double the power at the motor (which would still be under 11kW hence 125 equivalent), and a serious reduction in price.
But hey no clutch to shift...
woah woah woah there, dont say that around the moto commune they get mad if you touch the clutch
The e1 has a dealer installed charger for the rear. Ive not found any dealer not just giving you it for free.
So i just bought this bike as my first learner bike. Id litterly never even set on a bike before this. I wss able to ride this within seconds. Not gonna lie im absolutely loving it.
Id love for the walk mod to limit tq. It feels twitchy and i honestly find it easier to just move it normally.
I hope as time goes in the cost of the bike goes down as it needs to be as cheap as the 500. It also needs to push up to a 75mpg top speed and 80mile range. Its the first yesr model tho so you have to go threw growing pains
I saw the HEV 7 go 64mph in EV mode, how does the hybrid motor go faster than the pure ev
I like it lol but then again, i'm a newbie. I'm getting this for a commute because my e-bike seems to be more dangerous on Florida roads than an actual motorcycle.
The inngetica et charges in 18 minutes 200 mile range
Kawasaki is smart for making buyers purchase these before they're produced. I don't even ride and I feel bad for anyone buying this at full retail. This needs to be at scooter price if it cant reasonably run at highway speeds. I live in a rural area with towns about 10miles apart and our roads between all these towns are 55mph minimum and everyone drives 5 over. You would literally be a danger driving this. I couldn't even reasonably expect to drive it home from a dealership on the date of purchase and complete the trip. They should add another battery or two.
The hev 7 should have this color option
NINJA 400?!
It's even slower than a ninja 250.
The engine is so loud I love it
there will be no engine sounds in the future
Just left my local Suzuki dealership they had one of these for sale. $8000 for 60mph top ummm no. The ERide Pro goes 80 for $5500
Hell the "naxeum I am" goes 70 and it's only $7000
Best review of this bike to date!
Really similar to Doug DeMouro style - well done
It seams to be comparable with an Super soco Tc max, in case of specs but twice the price.
“ 0:11 “ 😂😂😂😂 facts
How tall are you? I'm 5"3 would both my feet reach the ground?
I’m 5’8”. I’m not sure if you could flatfoot at 5’3”. I think you could flatfoot by shifting your butt to either side.
I'd be interested at half the price.
So whats wrong with this bike? I have an electric mustang and love it. Iv always wanted a motorcycle and getting an electric one would be awesome. It being slow isnt a down side to me because my reason for not owning a motorcycle is i would be a danger to myself and others. This bike seems that wouldnt be the case.
Its overpriced, the range is terrible, and it can’t even go 60 mph. There is way better options for way less. This thing is too slow to go on the highway and too big to use on any bike paths. I want to like it but it sucks
Look into the Zero FX or FX-E. If you don't mind a previous-gen bike, consider the Zero S and DS as well. Those would be much better options than this one at the same price.
i guess if you live like in NY it would make sense but here in Miami I would get ran over . even on the lower streets people are traveling at 55 mph .
Also for teh money you are better off with a ninja 300 or 400 . you still going to get really good fuel milage and will be able to keep up with traffic
What's the top speed?
I don’t remember but I did do a top speed test in the video! Check it out.
Our top speed limit in Florida is 70 mph.
It doesn't look like this e-1 will maintain even that...
They say there’s a buyer out there for everything, but I don’t think I want to meet the buyer for this. 😅
We get it Kawy, it feels bad to be forced to make an electric bike after you made the H2. You really didn't have to make this thing to show us that.
this is supposed to be categorized as LSM
As a motorcycle guy this scares me cuz I do not wanna be that silent that's just asking for some bull
Jesus they really missed the mark. WE WANT RACE REPLICAS!!!! MotoE road racing bikes have 120 KW of power on tap (160 hp), 200Nm of torque, 0-100 in 3 seconds, top speed of 270kph, and can charge to 85% in about 20 minutes. if we could get even ONE QUARTER of that performance it would be a fun bike... This is a child's toy, not a motorcycle.
41 miles? I do that on my E bicycle my motorcycle doesn't move for such a short ride. That not nearly enough
Kawaski should have (at the very minimum) put an upside down fork on this and all their low end bikes.
That would bring a lot more sales, just ebcause of the looks.
I really love the looks and the electric concept of this one for the city. But I wont consider it as long as it's got those ugly forks. And maybe had a higher top speed.
But its a step into the correct direction. In 2-3 years i think they will have figured out how to make a longer range.
I've got nothing against e-vehicles. Tbh, I think a higher powered, higher range e-motorcycle or e-scooter (the maxiscooter/sport type) could be very interesting (and tons of torque) but this just ain't it. Perhaps with better battery tech and pricing in the future
To and from work with no highway if it was cheaper, I’d do it
Doug Demuro of motorcycles lol
40 miles range? So.. 30 miles realistically, from a weak motor.
This will basically kill off any hope Kawasaki had of leading the Big Four on EV bikes.
Ok, so 4 chargers (2 at home, 2 at work) plus over exaggerated price gets an over glorified short range scooter 🤦🏼♂️ Kawasaki… what were you thinking 🤔?
Edit… no way in hell would I ride this on a freeway.
Its Funny that this bike have a so "little" Battery inside. My Moped had almost the same Battery Power.
for me its perfekt but the price..... 9k is to high.
Certified Doug Demuro vibes
Hmmm, I do not understand this bike.
At first glance you'd think they have to start somewhere and there are going to be huge leaps in the future in terms of power and range.
That would still not justify purchasing what seems to be a hugely inferior product vs the ICE engined counterparts, in fact it's great reason not to and just wait.
What makes it even stranger is that there are already a lot of manufacturers out there offering electric bikes that make sense.
And some of them like BMW have acquired a lot of expertise through their car department and can build a good one NOW.
This makes this proposition even poorer, the market can't wait for Kawasaki to catch up.
I chose a Yamaha XSR 125 as my first bike over getting a scooter because I wanted the feel and experience of a motorcycle with all the intricacies that go with it.
Is there any such differentiation in the electric world where there are no gears any more?
What are Kawasaki offering that is different to the rest of the market that requires our attention?
What makes this not a scooter, the bigger wheels and steering arrangement?
Why am I so confused?
Yeah it’s definitely behind where the industry is today. But once they replace that electric motor and use better batteries this is gonna be FIRE!
@@emadreviewsor they could just put a 400cc motor in it
@@kylejohnson3892 They make 2 of those.
Google it. 🤡
This is the first by a reputable Japanese manufacturer, with full dealer back-up and warranty.
Have you ever looked at the used Chinese-crap market?
How many motorcycles have you owned, and ridden? What is your current street bike?
I don't give my opinion about private jets...because I don't know ANYTHING about them!
Sound familiar?
A ninja 400 makes the same torque. And 47 hp. The e1 makes 9 hp...........a ninja 400 would eat that bike
Would be more in your interest to check out their hybrid if you were at all interested in this electric. It's closer to a 750-1000cc engine woth the e boost but sips gas like a 250.
ie Ladezeit pro Akku beträgt ca. 3,7 Stunden für eine vollständige Ladung und 1,6 Stunden für eine Teilladung. So very poor - especially for such a little capacity...
Yeah not the best in the industry.
This is like Toyota making their crappy EVs and then saying that people don't want to buy EVs. We do, we just don't want stupid ones
It sucks... I hope future iterations are better.
Won't sell 40 mile range you joking
I knew it... i was just on Kawis website drooling over an H2R when I saw it and just from the video there i could tell its just a few thousand watts of power. 🤮🤮🤮🤮🤮🤮🤮🤮🤮🤮
Don't forget the Ninja 7 Hybrid.
This e-1 isn't Kawasaki's only bike using electricity to move along the pavement 🏍...
I got a chance to review the Hybrid model too! Check it out on the channel! Cheers
Such kind of bike does not help to push E-Bikes. It's simply a bad design. Put in a proper motor and bigger batteries. Zero, Energica and Lightwire seem to be the only ones who understood that.
I started to panic a few weeks ago when my fuel gauge started flashing on my Ninja 650 in the middle of nowhere. I didn't have my phone on me so I couldn't search for a gas station and had to just hope for the best. I made it. Who in the hell would buy a bike that has a 40 mile range? That would barely get me to work and back. If there were any detours or traffic, I'd be dead on the side of the road. This bike is dumb.
Literally only good for running to the beer store.
I'd want more storage space than 2 cans.
Watafoc is that? An electric scooter wirh bike frame? It doesn't even go above 50 miles per hour and it costs like it was a **** 600 cc bike
This is what happens when a company does not want to ruin any of the existing product lines. For the price, the Chinese Ninja 250 knock-off makes this feel like an excuse for an attempt.
While it looks cool I'd rather go cross country on a ruckus than buy this
It should be branded MATTEL.
That is not very convenient in the long run.
Wow i thought this might be kinda cool but nope it can't even do the speed limit of 45 and the range sucks its more of a toy then anything else atleast the hybrid one is a little better but way to expensive
Zero motorcycles and Energica are going to put Kawasaki out of business. I can’t wait 😊
No they aren't wtf😂
Nah, there's a buyer for every bike! Traditional riders that enjoy high revs, shifts and engine noises will continue to buy ICE motorcycles, while riders that enjoy quiet rides, maximum torque and enjoy kissing other men will buy EVs. Everyone wins.
Great idea - horrible execution. Needs longer range and higher top end. Limited at 55, or 65 with boost ? wth
This is perfect for day tot day use in agglomerated cities
It should cost as much as a Honda grom
Wow, it has less power than my e-bike.........and its slower. I hope it can be modded.
The price is too high for what you're getting. I wanted to get a EV motorcycle and was looking at Kawasaki because they are amongst the big players in motorcycles, but for more than 8k it should have been way more quicker and faster.
Never ever
Im sticking to my suzuki 1200cc gasoline moped
Shit is equivalent to a 125 cc bike don’t disrespect the ninja 400 like that .
It's disrespectful even for 125ccs
They have a range of 400-450km and are way faster than this and cost 2-2.5k
@@programmingkitten1326 lmao facts
The range is so horrible, dont undersrand why kawasaki even bothered relasing this thing..
Who would buy this instead of a surron??
wow I've never been so hyped and yet so disappointed
$7899 plus TT&L for 41 miles of range 😂 wtf is that. I’m shocked they can give us that price and “take/rob” their die hard fans or anyone that loves ninjas that easily.
& the ninja 7 HEVs top speed is 40 mph FOR $15,000+ like what the hell is that
Only thing positive is ride quality...
Otherwise
It's worthless......
The sound makes me Sick
Its cute but gas is best.
already did the test drive and all i gotta say is hell no.
This is a JOKE of a bike
Really stupid bike, 6hp😂😂
Do not like this bike at ALL! On the other hand, am I the only person who thinks he sounds like Doug Demuro? Sounds exactly like Doug, but on bikes! 😂
Seems like a poorly executed Surron in a sports bike body, and because of that doubles the price.
e ride SS completely craps on this ninja, for thousands less of a price. which is shocking and sad
🎉🎉🎉
If only my Navi looked like a cbr and was electric. hint hint /honda
