What makes RealLifeLore exceptional is that instead of stringing together an overly simplified story, the channel gives you a whole messy web and walks you through how it all works.

Not that strange, though. Both Iran and Russia deny the neoimperialist hegemony of the USA for quite a while. The drastic increase of trade with India and China with all parties saying goodbye to the USD is also natural. The illegal Western sanction is like shooting youself in the foot in terms of the dominance of the USA worldwide.

Two autocratic nations that use religion to control their mistreated people kind of fit together well. Abrahamic religions are barely different anyways.
Enemy of my enemy. And the US has gone out of its way to do nothing but make enemies throughout most of the world and prove we have no loyalty to allies other then Israel.
I’ve always wanted to learn about the Middle Eastern conflict but never got into it because it’s BEYOND complicated. Thanks for the somewhat easily digestible video.
I wouldn't take this guy as true information. If you want to know about middle east loom up local information they seem to tell things differently than western reporters
It's actually quite simple. Muslims all hate Israel and west. Muslims though are split into major 2 camps the Saudi Arabian supporting Sunnis and the Iranian supporting Shiites. This has caused a cold war between Iran and the Saudi Kingdom. Islam is shit and so are most religions, but islam is the shittiest of them all. Look at any islamic country and that should be obvious. Wherever that deplorable religion spreads, death and oppression come with it.
All you have to do is understand the interference of Israel/US/UK/France in the Middle East you will probably understand 90% of all issues .. The West & Israel committed major war crimes, devided nations, installed, funded, armed and supported PUPPET RUTHLESS DICTATORS, encouraged corruption and bribery, and stole the resources, such as oil and land! .. the other 10% is simple, Iranian people are nice people but the Iranian leaders are scam artists! Iran is under extreme threat from the US/Israel, Iran wants to control Arabs (but they can't) .. Isis is a "false flag" group funded, armed and supported by Intelligent agencies (US/Israel) to manufacture fear and hate against Islam and Arabs! (I traveled and lived in many countries, spent half of my life in the Middle East and the other half in the US)
Which is why even though the forefathers of the U.S. managed to escape "warring europe" and start a wonderful existence, the "warring middle east" is and has been ground 0.....

Then they came for me-and there was no one left to speak for me. If we continue to let bigger nations bully their neighbours, eventually we'll only have a small handful of massive nationstates. I'd also argue that with the forced abduction of ukranian children, mass graves, execution of civilians, bombing of hopsitals, schools and so forth, this is not only a war, but a genocide.
Do you think America is worry about Iran??? Or Russia? We can take Russia, China and Iran at the same time eliminating you within several months or less.
This underplays the recent historic animosity between Iran and the USSR/Russia. There's a big square in Tehran that had three flags painted on the ground in the 1980s so they would be disrespected as thousands of people walk on them every day. Those flags were of the USA, Israel, and USSR.
Considering your "geographic location" and how young Azerbaijan (as an independent state) is, I think Azerbaijan made a huge strategic mistake by trying to get closer to Israel and Turkey. I can't fully understand why they have done that really. But now, I think your northern neighbor wants to gain control over Azerbaijan once again, while it can (because 50 years or 100 years from now, it may be too costly or maybe even impossible to do that, considering the role of Turkey and the EU). Still, I think they will allow Nakhichevan to still exist as an independent entity, but I could be wrong. In that hypothetical (but logical) scenario, Armenia then may even try to cut off the Nakhichevan-Turkey border, just in case (for future).

It is. That's why it's a disaster when fools like Donald Trump can make decisions. Here is one of many examples of how irreparable the damage is that completely incompetent foreign policy does. The Obama administration, for example, has been trying to slowly improve relations with Iran and end its isolation. Certainly also because analysts saw the dangers that are now being realized even then. By Trump's cancellation of the nuclear deal and reinstatement of sanctions to play strongman, he has put Iran in a situation that leaves them no choice but to join forces with Russia. American geopolitics has been a carefully balanced affair for many decades. But stupid decisions by angry children will ensure that America's adversaries become ever more organized.
This video is full of speculation, and unproven assumptions, and even outright lies gathered from western propaganda sources, especially at beginning in relation to the Ukraine war, you just assume a whole lot of things are facts, when they are totally unproven. I also love how you conveniently forget to mention the CIA coup d'état in Iran in 1954, and how British and American petroleum companies didn't want the Iranian government to nationalize its oil and gas wealth, and installed the brutal Shah in their democratic governments place. You also forget the mention the role the USA has played in keeping the Middle east war torn and divided for decades in its efforts to isolate an destroy Iran, wit its colonial settler outpost Israel always willing to do its bidding, and your idea that Russian and Iran are totally isolated is false, most of the world in fact nearly all the world outside the collectives west has not sanctioned Russia, only 13% of Humanity has sanctioned Russia, but is common for the people in the west to consider themselves the whole world, and every one else just their subservient monkeys, what idiots like you fail to realize is those days are now well and truly over.

9:30 One interesting thing that was left out is that the Islamic Revolution was not a unified movement. There were secularists, communists, and others in addition to the islamists. Khomeini then purged all others, similar to Lenin & Stalin, and because the communists were purged the USSR, who was initially friendly to the anti-American regime, broke ties with Iran.
I am uncomfortable about referring to autocratic regimes that do not have support of the country's people as being equal to The whole country. Like when it says the Iranians support Russia in Ukraine it is not that ordinary Iranian people agree with Putin's invasion. Many Iranians have shown they don't support the regime in Iran or it's policies with protests that were ongoing over a long time

I think you are exaggerating the relevance of the Tartus naval base. It can dock 4 frigates at best. It is essentially half of one pier and 2 tiny floating piers and a few repair facilities. It's not known how many soldiers are deployed there, but about a decade ago it was less than 10. And if you look at it on a map, it becomes clear that it lacks the support facilities for major repairs or to house a lot of people.
once enemies start working together you know its gonna be a strong alliance, because enemies have more to prove to each other then to their friends but, ofc, they do it for their own benefit

i cant believe that someone that isnt orginally from iran or anywhere around that in the middle east would actually understand the middle eastern conflict because of how complicated it is. especially iran as it has been thorugh countless wars and much more complex history wavring around the revolution or even beforehand.
I’m not from that region but understand it quite easily. Everywhere and all peoples of the Middle East are unsophisticated and simpletons. Only white males in every country are capable of complexity. White men invented everything. Conquered the world by both mental and physical prowess.
The problem with being a middle eastern is that you'll undoubtedly have a dog in this fight which might color your opinions of certain actions. An outsider can usually provide a more objective view even if it's not as thorough.

Each nation does what’s in it’s immediate interest. It’s also worth noting that China is using less oil probably due to EVs which are 24% of their auto sales. Seems like if the West and China continue to use less oil, this undermines Russia and Iran, makes India less dependent on Russia, reduces China’s fear of having its oil supply through the South China Sea cut off, and reduces the chance of US jumping in on the side of whoever is supplying us oil. I would say a net positive influence. I love the lengthy video. To understand the relationship of Russia-Iran today, you have to have context. And that means you need to understand the past 250 years of history in the region. We should all aim to be better educated about our world and why things happen, thus we might be able to better keep war and evil from occurring
Well, about 250 year old grudges, Russia excelled at them. It's a habit of the neighborhood. For example, in Afghanistan, Sunni Pathan tribesman, are still enraged by the memories of the Mongols who cut large swaths through the land, killing everything in its paths. Then those Mongols settled down in Afghanistan and Iran, converted to _ Iran and identified themselves as Hazaras. Now the Shi'i Hazaras are at the mercy of the Sunni Pathans and it isnt pretty. That bloody score bubbles over time and again, just as it has for the past 500-700 years approximately.
@@meeeka wow thats a really cool story I had no idea about. I always wondered why Iraqis were not more upset with Mongolia or the Chinese ? The Mongol destruction of Baghdad is arguably what catapulted Western Europe into the lead of "modernization" (I know this is not the entire reason but it sure helped). Also, with the treatment of certain muslims currently in China, why does no one in the middle east say anything?
I dont think historical rivalries allways are so important. If they were that important, England and France would keep killing each other as for the past 1000 years 😂
But they literally have been doing that for almost a thousand years though. The rise of Germany is the reason why they stopped doing that and realized a partnership is in their best interests.
So many of these countries outright hate each other, but work together to take out countries that they hate even more. But an alliance built on hate is a fragile thing at best.

I think a very important part of Iran's history was skipped over and also accounts for the hostility toward the U.S. From Wikipedia: "In 1951, Mohammad Mosaddegh was appointed as the Prime Minister of Pahlavi Iran. After the nationalization of Iran's oil industry, he became enormously popular. He was deposed in the 1953 Iranian coup d'état, an Anglo-American covert operation that marked the first time the United States had participated in an overthrow of a foreign government during the Cold War." The UK and the US basically wanted private control of all the oil and gas, and Iran said no, so the CIA and MI-6 offed the legally elected Prime Minister, who was secular and progressive. They installed the Shah, who, while progressive and modern, was just a puppet of the US. They continued their meddling in sovereign nations throughout the rest of the 20th century, not for the US, but for the mega corporations owned by super rich US citizens, just like it is today.

Before you go talking about the evils of the world you need to place them in the context of the world. The man you speak of, Mohammad Mosaddegh, took control of the oil and gas industry that was built by the British there continuously since 1913. There were a lot of wealthy Iranian people that didnt like him for Nationalizing the industry. Also, what you left out was the U.S. admitted to involvement by paying protesters and bribing officials, not assassinating. Can you bride the willing though? Really? Rezh Shah had declared the country nuetral because he was afraid of Soviet and Anglo ambitions in his country. It seems that Mosaddegh was fitting into the soviet influence. After Mossadegh was deposed, Rezh was reinstated and put together a 50/50 deal with the British. We all know what happened in the Iranian revolution and the hardship of Iran, but then you would ask the British and their allies to help a people who took their investments away from them. A people that violently expelled them. A people that started terrorist attacks upon countries that they blamed for their own lack of foresight. Iran has doubled down since then continuously in a downward spiral estranging themselves from the west by blaming their problems on them. When in the west people have a right to choose who they do business with, that is no way to do business. Good business requires a certain amount of stability and those countries that cannot offer that dont do much business. It's economics. No one wants their facilities taken away from them.

Very well done video that includes a wealth of information. One small correction: at 29:10 you state that Israel is a major arms importer from Russia, which causes Israel to want to maintain good relations with Russia. Very doubtful that Israel imports any arms from Russia and Israel's interest in keeping good relations with Russia is more about giving Israel free reign to attack Iranian proxies in Syria without Russian intervention.

From Russia, definitely not. It was in the very long past, during the first years of the country's existence, most of the arms came from Czechoslovakia which was a part of the Soviet bloc. Currently, most of the arms come either from USA or made domestically. Israel is a huge and an important producer of arms and other. So yeah, a mistake in the video

The main reason is because america did the same thing to them over Isreal.

I like your series because it helps understand things that influence nations, rather than just demonizing the other based on religion, political tradition, or culture.

The thing is we don't know the deal Iran made with China and Saudi Arabia for that agreement. There are talk of Kish Island going to China for Instance. @@souvikrc4499 Russian yes antagonist, but Iran ?
They jendral and scienctist has been kill by American (imagine if It vice Versa maybe USA gonna invade Iran) and israel bcs they against zionisme,
And i am sure Israel is out of American or west "antagonist" word, everyone play their own part on this Messy politics world
I think a very important part of Iran's history was skipped over and also accounts for the hostility toward the U.S.
From Wikipedia: "In 1951, Mohammad Mosaddegh was appointed as the Prime Minister of Pahlavi Iran. After the nationalization of Iran's oil industry, he became enormously popular. He was deposed in the 1953 Iranian coup d'état, an Anglo-American covert operation that marked the first time the United States had participated in an overthrow of a foreign government during the Cold War."
The UK and the US basically wanted private control of all the oil and gas, and Iran said no, so the CIA and MI-6 offed the legally elected Prime Minister, who was secular and progressive.

1951 was before my father was born, it's ancient history in political terms.
What a nice coverage of all the conflicts that happened as the background that started it all. Great job RealLifeLore team.

Israel is most definitely not importing weapons from Russia, this is indeed a mistake in the video

@@SeresHotes25 It starts with the title itself. Iran is not 'attacking' Ukraine. Iran is selling equipment to Russia (an ally and the main military equipment provider to them for the past 45 years). Then omitting facts, like how the US was the main agent behind isolating and egging on its neighbours to attack Iran. Also, Iraq never invaded any part of Saudi Arabia like the video claims. RealLifeLore is a propaganda channel. It omits facts, and sneaks in lies to paint a narrative. The US state department pays youtube channels to put out their 'version'.

Blatant propaganda
My highschool history teacher once said. All Russia ever wanted was a Warm water port
It's ironic because NATO would lock down Sevastopol immediately if a war happened. It's a useless port in wartime.
Sounds like it was the biggest thing they were missing. Civilizations tend to grow near ports. Russia probably doesn't mind global warming because as the world gets warmer. Russia would naturally gain warmer water ports.
Even if they have crimea there are still bosphor and Gibraltar straits that can block them out. So its time for Russia to get realistic and stop fucking with other free countries just for the sake of the port that wont even help them all that much
Man they might have gotten one if they werent total jackboots.
Is there any place to access the sources you used to making this video? Very interesting topic for research. Great video btw 😁

You forgot to include that Iran could have been more moderate right now had their moderate factions not completely torpedoed by US unilaterally and unfairly cancel the nuclear deal (despite of EU helplessly trying to keep it afloat) they signed themselves and left Iran with no choice but total antagonism.
