  • Hello my Friends! 🌹✨🌹I am my own worst critic…😂 I almost passed on making this piece into a demo but Patrick loved it and said I was being too hard on myself! So here it is…🤗. This colorful cane is simple to make and also doubles as a beautiful spiral Murrini! It is comprised of a delightful selection of 12 transparent colors with delicate white stripes in between.
    The ends of the cane were slightly thicker in diameter, and knowing that these would make for great Murrini, I cut them down and combined it with the cane for this design.✨🌹Combining this cane and its murrini is the perfect way to view both unique and contrasting angles a single focal piece….so beautiful!!
    I hope you all enjoy this one! Thanks so much for all of your support through the Super Thanks donation tab!! 🥰🌹🌹…all donations go back into making these demos for us all to enjoy!!
    Cheers my Friends!! - Robin 🤗✨🌈
    P.S. I will be out of town next weekend….see you soon!!🌹
    Colors-
    Yellow Uranium -591265
    CIM- Poolside Dichro - 515553
    Super Clear- 591006
    White - 591204
    Cane:
    **as many or as few transparent colors that you want to use!😂 I was able to fit 12 different colors on my white (Effetre 204) base. **

    Thanks Robin, another excellent video full of fun facts, tips and techniques. I’m also enjoying rewatching your previous videos, your making a truly valuable lampworking resource, free and international and fantastic, thank you 🤓

      Hello Dan! 🌹✨ Im so glad you enjoyed this one! I find it extremely frustrating that people have to pay to see a glass demo or learn techniques that they might not be able to understand or achieve in their own studios. (Obviously one would pay to take an in person class or see their favorite glass artist live. The teacher should be paid for the time!)
      But paying for step by step pictures online is crazy to me…what if you have questions or need further assistance? ….so I will do my best to give you all free demos to watch over and over again so you can spend your extra $$ on more glass! 😂🥰🌹✨ …I hope that didn’t sound mean…😳 Thanks so much for your kind words Dan! Cheers to you- Robin🌈✨🌹

    Some excellent tips and a really lovely bead. I have never made murrini but might give it a try. I love the fact that you show if something happens that wasn't to plan that there is a way to recover. Big thank you Robin xx🎉

      Hello Lena! 👋🏽🤗 Thanks so much!! This is an easy ‘first’ murrini to make! I do hope you give it a try…they are great elements to play with. ✨🌹✨ I’m also glad you like my mishaps….I think it is important to show how I recover from them! Plus I would feel like I am cheating if I were to edit them out! 😂 Take Care & Cheers- Robin ✨🌈🌹

    WOW that's a lot of work. Wasn't sure you'd be able to see the colors at first. They seemed so small in the murini cane. But they're just gorgeous. Kuddos ❤

      hi Jordan! 🤗✨ I’m so happy to read your comment! I have always admired the art of Murrini making….it’s fascinating to see how detailed they can be! Richard Marquis work is a great example…one of my first glass hero’s! I’m glad I can share some simple yet beautiful designs with you all. I’m far from an expert at it…but I know that if I can do it, so can you!! ✨🌹🌹

    I have a tip… for odd shaped beads, if you’re trying to get the clear on first swipe right to left, then the next left to right. Continue all the way round. Thanks for another excellent video

      Hi Sonia!! 😃✨🌹 Thank you!! I was crossing my fingers the whole way on this one! 😂 I’m so glad it turned out well…in the future I would use only my darkest transparent colors! But this was a great experiment to find that out!
      Is there anything specific you would like to see in the Boro? I’m not very experienced with it…but am willing to try anything!😅
      I hope all is well with you my Friend! ✨🌹💫Big hugs- Robin❄️☃️🌹

    Gorgeous! Making the Murrini from your twisty just completes it. I generally find murrain to cutsy. When you draw out the cane to get the gather at the base, Often think if pulled out could be used later if pulled straight. If nothing else use for dots. Your waste glass is probably beautiful. Also find II have trouble if a bead gets so large the bead release goes and it starts free twisting. I have ordered the bead release you use so will see if that helps.

      @scottwoodresearch  6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hi Vicki! 🤗🌹 I used to have larger beads twist of the mandrel from the bead release as well!! 😖soooo frustrating!!! But I will swear by the Foster Fire Smooth and Tuff formula!! It is excellent!! There are still times that the bead release cracks but it is usually because of something silly that I did! 😂 I’m really happy that you enjoyed this demo. I try not to have a lot of waste but it is impossible! I save anything that I might be able to use later….I have loads of bins full of short rods, cane and stringer! 😅 And if I have enough left on my punty after pulling cane I will sometimes pull a bit more for stingers….but they tend to pile up!🤗✨🌹 Thanks so much for sharing!!
      Big Hugs - Robin 🌹✨🌈

    Hello from Virginia. Love your videos. Keep up the good work. Was wondering if you could do a video on how you get the off the mandrel

      Hi Irene! 🤗🌹 I’m so happy you are enjoying the demos! 💫 The earlier demos have me cleaning the beads out…but I noticed that no one watched to the end. 😂. But yes! I will try to get something together for you! I almost always use a pliers on the mandrel then twist off the bead.
      Thanks so much for your comment! 🌹✨🌹 Cheers- Robin🌈💫✨

      I watch to the end! Got the old Dremel out and got the drill bits. Thanks for the info. I also loved seeing your beads displayed on the glass “coral” and made myself a similar piece in a class using boro.@@scottwoodresearch

      @pinkpetunia123 Hi Leslie! 🤗🌹I used to clean my beads with a small hand reamer…the Dremel is wonderful and no more pokes in my fingers!😂✨ I am thrilled to know you have made a coral bead stand in class…That’s awesome! They are fun to make. Thanks so much for sharing!! 🌈🙏🏽

    Love the demos, this cane was super sweet! Can I ask why you use metal mandrels, & punty’s instead of glass ones? Is there any benefits to using metal?

    • @scottwoodresearch
      @scottwoodresearch  6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hello Gas!👋🏽😃 Thank you for the question! I used to use glass rods for my puntys and it can work just fine…but I like a lot of heat and they would get too soft. Using the metal plenty was a perfect alternative for me because the metal never melts or gets soft. Therefore, I always have a strong connection on either side of the glass in between. ✨🌹 However, if I am making a marble, the the final punty is always a glass rod. I hope this helps to explain! So happy that you are enjoying the demos!😃 Cheers- Robin ✨🌹💫

      Hi Jody! 😃👋🏽 So glad you enjoyed this one! My very first 101.01 demo is all about getting the bead release in the middle! ✨ it is at the end (or beginning) of the Flameworking 101 playlist on our TH-cam page @scottwoodresearch Let me know if you can’t find it! …it is super easy to do!! 🤗 Thanks so much for asking! 🌹✨ Cheers- Robin 🌈💫✨
