As an Oklahoma fan i can't be upset with Caleb. He did the right thing, played the bowl game and announced his plan to enter the portal. Caleb didn't travel to other teams. Caleb didn't give up on the season. Caleb didn't sneak off in the middle of the night.
Something that you missed is that he stopped recruiting for OU part way through his last season at OU and before it was clear he was leaving. He suddenly stopped recruiting players that Oklahoma had been targeting and almost exclusively started going after SoCal and other west coast kids. That is shady as hell
The biggest thing that upset me about the move was right after the loss during Bedlam. He said he’d stay in Oklahoma. Then I wake up the next morning and see the news that he ran away to California. And the taking some key players with him was also infuriating.
I am in my 70's, I have seen a lot of head coaches leave. I have never harbored resentment for any of them until Lincoln Riley. It was the sneaky wormy lying way that he left. The animosity between Oklahoma fans and Lincoln Riley pales in comparison with Florida fans and Urban Meyer. Imagine a coach stepping away from a program that was beginning to fester within (thanks to his lack of accountability) to supposedly focus on his health and spend more time with his family... only to take the Ohio State job less than a year later.
Even before the transfer portal, if your HC left to another school, you were allowed to transfer to said school without sitting a year & wasting the eligibility
Locals saw the Lincoln was thinking about leaving. Following his last failure in Norman, he cuts off a reporter in the post game to tell him that "i won't be the next coach at LSU" because that was the assumed poacher. He had already negotiated the deal at SC when he said that. Lincoln is an ass an his failure is delicious.
As an OU fan I don’t hate Lincoln. I hate how he left, what he did to leave, and how he handled the leaving. He left OU in shambles. But now that we have Mr. BV we are in a better place than we would ever be with Lincoln.
@secretbase do the Louisville basketball story. Kevin ware breaking his leg in the most vicious way, winning the national championship, and then losing the title is wild
As an Oklahoma alumnus, I never once had beef with Caleb. After Riley took our best recruits, half our coaching staff, hell, even our long-time director of operations, Caleb was the one who stayed for the bowl game. His ONLY postseason victory, under interim head coach Bob Stoops. Two things can be true: 1) Very few in their right mind would turn down the kind of money USC was offering, as well as easier paths to recruiting in the NIL and portal era 2) Riley is PROVING that he can’t succeed in bigger conferences. It’s up to both him AND OU now to prove who can get back up and start succeeding first.
Yep. They feed on this nonsense because it is the life blood of their denial that Lincoln Riley left Oklahoma because USC is a better school in a better place with a history even better than their admittedly pretty good history. Makes total sense that they still carry the hate. We're talking about a fan base that stalked every single USC athletics twitter feed spewing the most and quite concerning threats against his wife and daughters as well as several female staffers at USC. They even attacked the USC women's tennis team with absolutely disgusting and profane comments and threats. It's been three years now and they are still behaving this way. Hmm. Suddenly, it kind of makes sense why he left in the first place.
True. He wanted to stay out of the SEC, and then the PAC fell apart and he ended up in the other superconference. He'd have recruited better to OU in the SEC than he will to USC in the Big Ten.
As an OU fan and an Oklahoman, loyalty is huge around here. And its not that he left, its HOW he left. It was the same with the Thunder and how Kevin Durant left.
Maybe I'm crazy, but I don't remember Oklahoma ever having difficulty recruiting. I used to live in the Austin area, and OU's success convincing Texas HS players to head north of the Red River was an everlasting thorn in the sides of UT supporters.
If you're mad that they left for the SEC then you shouldn't be an OU fan. Moving to the SEC was the best decision OU could make. You should be upset at Riley for destroying the program for multiple years and ducking the SEC smoke
At 2:04, all but Jalen Hurts sat out a year. Remember, Jalen Hurts was at Alabama in 2018. Hurts transferred in as a graduate transfer making him immediately eligible to play in 2019.
Yea fk him lol.... like hes bob stoops or something... hes fkn trash and everytime i watch usc i hope they lose. and the fact he thought hed take caleb and win a natty, and now look at him with the bears... #Boomer Sooner all day...
As an OU fan, I wasn't upset either. Since that hopeful, if not devastating end to the 2017 season, I thought we were finally going in the right direction to finally win another title but the defense kept getting worse, and so did the offense every year. I don't know if BR is the guy ( and at this point, I am not very optimistic), but I knew Lincoln wasn't.
The biggest sore spot for Oklahoma fans is that the week of the Baylor game, our biggest game of the year at that point, he cancelled practice twice and flew to LA. Then phoned in the Bedlam game and a couple others down the stretch (ISU too) and stopped recruiting kids to Oklahoma. Baker transferred to OU before TBOW was ever there, also.
Lincoln Riley is a one trick pony. He’s great at developing qbs. And whenever he’s under pressure, he simply lies. He’s basically Bobby Petrino but with admittedly better moral fiber
I feel weird saying this because I would like the background music by itself, but the music being used is backing made the video really difficult to listen to.
On the one hand a lot of fandom rivalries, especially college rivalries, get way too intense. On the other hand I've never heard a better "Boomer sooner" than when it was followed up with "you TRAITOR."
Riley basically regressed from where OU was when Bob Stoops left. He took yet another Heisman winner and underperformed at USC. I'm glad to have Venables now. Riley and Caleb still joined the Durant club as irredeemable in OK though.
you left out the fact he lied to the media before he and other coaches got on a plane without anyone knowing. I don't think any fans were upset about Williams leaving. it was expected
Really? He got on the plane without anyone knowing? Look it up. When you realize that is NOT a fact, start asking yourself what else you believe about him that was never actually reported but was just rumor and speculation from folks on social media and message boards.
I’m an OU fan and OU fans just don’t like Riley because he told the locker room and fans he was coming back and then left over night. Caleb at least stuck around and played in the bowl game and also helped us beat Texas so we thank him for that always! But we don’t hate Williams lol
Let's get another thing clear, at 2:14 you say Riley shopped for Baker Mayfield and got him from his old alma mater TT. That is not true, Baker showed up to OU practice one day and let them know he was available. Coaches didn't even know it until he showed up. I remember all that, and how it went down. But he did come from TT that is true.
Oklahoma just benched their 5 star QB. WTH is going on over there in the middle of nowhere? He keeps turning the ball over. They can barely beat auburn with Throne as their QB
If it is true that one of the main reason that Riley left was to get away from the SEC, moving to USC only for them to leave the PAC-12 after 2 years of coaching for the B10 is poetic as hell. I blame USC for destroying the PAC-12 and im going to enjoy watching their football program get destroyed there too.
Every year that Riley was head coach at Oklahoma offensive Production went down, just like what appears to be happening at USC. USC has a dying fan base, and Riley's college football status is going down with it.
When Riley left OU he made the decision to go to USC he contacted them BEFORE they had fired their previous coach and did all he could to burn the entire program to the ground on his way out. Taking Caleb Williams was just one player he poached. Caleb leaving was MORE on the Dad than on Caleb himself. But it was clear than Riley had acted in bad faith and with malice. HE WAS RECRUITING FOR USC WHILE STILL AT OU. Everyone knew something was very, very wrong during the season in which an OU team favored to win the NC came a hair's breadth from losing 5 games. He did not want to play in the SEC.
The fact that fans get so upset about people making choices based on money is amazing. How is taking a better paying job okay for everyone in America except coaches, the same goes for players, how is a player making a choice that they feel is best for their future wrong. Anyone who gets upset because of something a coach or player or program does needs to reevaluate their beliefs.
Riley was handed the keys to the palace. Caleb followed Riley bc he couldn't get someone to paint his nails quite the same. And also Dave Aranda and Mike Gundy figured out how to stop Riley.

But at that point they couldn't explain why.
You are buying in to a bunch of bunk that starts from OU message board posters who throw out crazy stuff with absolutely no proof and that people take as fact without ever thinking about whether it makes sense.
You realize you all look like bitter, petty crybabies for becoming so crazed when he left that you've got to tell one another these absolutely insane stories so you can say "I'm not mad because he left. I'm mad because of how he left."
To be clear, OU fans weren’t mad at Caleb. He was committed to learning from TBOW as much as he was to playing at OU. He made a business decision.
his dad is the one that was doing everything to make people hate caleb
It was so great seeing everyone boo mention of USC winning at last week's Gameday in Norman 😂
If nothing else it's fun to have someone to boo at imo, so thanks Lincoln Riley.
He was handed a golden egg on a silver platter. He never appreciated nor did he ever elevate what he was given. I wish no success for Lincoln Riley and I would like to give my condolences to USC. The little worm is your problem now. Good luck.
you sound bitter as hell old man
Oooooh. Now do Brian Kelly and ND.
Just a reminder that TCU has more CFP wins than Texas and Oklahoma combined.
Counting playoff wins instead of national titles tells you all you need to know 🤣

I never held any ill will to Williams. Kids gotta go for his future and OU was going to have a rough year with the way Riley left and took everything that wasnt nailed down.
But Riley will always get the ire of Soiner Nation. Hope to play him one day. That would be a sight.
Lincoln is someone who was born on 3rd and thinks he hit a triple 🤣goodluck usc
@@kelbyanthony6748 lmao like Oklahoma has been much better
@@Nick_Simpson007I didn’t say they have been lmao?
He started as a student assistant at TT and worked his way up. How was be born on third?
@@AllyourBase3 he was handed the keys to a championship caliber roster by Bob Stoops. Oklahoma was not in a rebuild state like most programs are when a new head coach takes over. Building the team yourself is a whole different animal.
@@jordanparks6885 lol a championship roster that Stoops had also underachieved with. And let’s not forget he’d have won OU zero national titles if Miami hadn’t been robbed of the chance to play them by the BCS.
Never understood why he made the USC move. Both were legendary programs - it was a lateral transfer at best.
He didn’t want to face the toughness of the SEC. The PAC 12 was weak at the time, and he thought he’d be able to dominate the conference (he didn’t).
Even before the transfer portal, if your HC left to another school, you were allowed to transfer to said school without sitting a year & wasting the eligibility
No you weren't 😂 where did you get this BS info? You always had to sit out a year if you transferred unless you were a senior.
This doesn’t even talk about how broken he left OU with all the scholarship players that left because of him and he poached
Three kids went to USC from Oklahoma. All the others left because OU sucked with out Lincoln Riley.
Kevin ware breaking his leg in the most vicious way, winning the national championship, and then losing the title is wild
honestly this video came off as an oklahoma fans bitter take on the ou/riley feud
Yall should do a deep rewind of Chiefs / Rams crazy points game from 2019.
One of the more mediocre Beef Histories, tons of factual errors and pretty clearly biased
Mediocre is giving it too much credit.
in short, Riley is still terrified of the big games
Don’t think so. He’s beaten a lot of ranked teams
Did you watch USC LSU?
This video takes such a side...and I love it
"Boomer Sooner you traitor!" Indeed.
Lincoln Riley true beef is with not over cooking brissjet
As an Oklahoma alumnus, I never once had beef with Caleb. After Riley took our best recruits, half our coaching staff, hell, even our long-time director of operations, Caleb was the one who stayed for the bowl game. His ONLY postseason victory, under interim head coach Bob Stoops.
Two things can be true:
1) Very few in their right mind would turn down the kind of money USC was offering, as well as easier paths to recruiting in the NIL and portal era
2) Riley is PROVING that he can’t succeed in bigger conferences. It’s up to both him AND OU now to prove who can get back up and start succeeding first.
Norman or Los Angeles 🤔… Caleb isn’t dumb.
Pollution, crime, ridiculous taxes and traffic jams. Have fun 👍
Suddenly, the hate I saw toward USC on College Gameday in Norman last week makes sense.
THANK YOU!
But Caleb was gone the second Dillon Gabriel committed to OU after Jeff Lebby was hired.
naw, DG wouldnt have been any competition to CW
@@uLWillyG it was OU’s way of moving on; they weren’t gonna be held hostage by Carl Williams

What is crazy is that now lincoln is in the big ten.
True. He wanted to stay out of the SEC, and then the PAC fell apart and he ended up in the other superconference. He'd have recruited better to OU in the SEC than he will to USC in the Big Ten.
He was told that USC was planning on getting out of the Pac and had been talking to the B1G when they pitched him for the job.
As an OU fan and an Oklahoman, loyalty is huge around here. And its not that he left, its HOW he left. It was the same with the Thunder and how Kevin Durant left.
Riley & Caleb can stick it as far as they can
Josh Heupel vs Oklahoma would be really interesting
Am I the only one who saw the typo in the headline at 8:51? They clearly meant to say cites.
Before Riley departure, the media was making it seem like it was beef between him and Caleb Williams, while entire time that was part of their plan!
Maybe I'm crazy, but I don't remember Oklahoma ever having difficulty recruiting. I used to live in the Austin area, and OU's success convincing Texas HS players to head north of the Red River was an everlasting thorn in the sides of UT supporters.
Secret Base talking about this beef but still hasn’t given us a break down of Marshon Lattimore and Mike Evans
We need a Rich Rodriguez episode for both WVU and Michigan
Lincoln was a MASTER offensive coach QB whisperer.
As a life long oklahoma fan, im not mad at either riley or williams for leaving.
Im more mad that we left for the sec.
Do a rewind on Wisconsin vs Nebraska 2014 Melvin goes 408
I'm an Oklahoma fan and when I heard the news, I laughed
Great take
The biggest sore spot for Oklahoma fans is that the week of the Baylor game, our biggest game of the year at that point, he cancelled practice twice and flew to LA.
I'm a Tulane fan but the Green Wave didn't ' thump" the trojans in the cotton Bowl. It was back n forth game until the last minute.
Both USC and OU just need to settle this on the field whether it’s meeting in a bowl game this year or scheduling a future home and home.
I'd love a USC home and home with us.
That would require Lincoln to have a spine…
That beat down in the National Championship wasn’t enough for you Oklahoma fans?
@@georgelucas2571 I’m an SC fan my guy I want them to not just play and beat OU but hurt them make them cry

This video got so much stuff wrong. Secret Base has really gone downhill...
Pretty sure Kofi wrestled for Chaotic Wresting in the Boston area prior to being in the WWE system
Oklahoma has a lot of coaches that have left that don't have nice things to say about them.
The only one I can think of is the guy we had right before Stoops took over.. got any others names?
Left? I think not. *Got fired, yeah probably.
Sooner fans will always owe Caleb big time for his game against Texas. Boomer.
you left out the fact he lied to the media before he and other coaches got on a plane without anyone knowing.
Beef History: Pat Riley vs the NY Knicks
OK, yeah... but what made Donovan McNabb finish his career Untitled?
It's all good I can't imagine they take football seriously in Oklahoma or anything
These coaches mean a lot. Deep dive on Steichen?
Let's get another thing clear, at 2:14 you say Riley shopped for Baker Mayfield and got him from his old alma mater TT. That is not true, Baker showed up to OU practice one day and let them know he was available. Coaches didn't even know it until he showed up. I remember all that, and how it went down. But he did come from TT that is true.
Oklahoma just benched their 5 star QB. WTH is going on over there in the middle of nowhere? He keeps turning the ball over. They can barely beat auburn with Throne as their QB
Sooners would rather cry about the past than think about the present.
Oklahoma fans are mad at Lincoln cause they struggled with auburn today 🤣🤣🤣.
Still got the W
Yeah but auburn is been bad this recent years
And ou barely won that
I cant believe auburn blew that. They have fallen off so hard aint been themselves since like 2018
OU also had 0 starters lol. They are on their third string WR’s
He embodies his Okie moniker, "TBOW"
Every year that Riley was head coach at Oklahoma offensive Production went down, just like what appears to be happening at USC. USC has a dying fan base, and Riley's college football status is going down with it.
Please KD vs Westbrook and the Thunder
8 days after this video was made Lincoln Riley lost to Minnesota and banned another reporter from asking a question
How bitter and childish can a fambase be:
Ou fanbase: "Hold my beer."
Do not care
@SecretBaseSBN please do an episode on the downfall of FSU football. How does a team go 13-0 then 1-4???
Baker was at OU in 2014. Riley came in 2015
