Wonderful video, your metalwork & TIG work are exceptional. After 2yrs I trust your banged nose is now all fine. Thanks for sharing your video & skills!

I thought my first set were painful, but at least no TIG for me... all these jobs could be done at one major down, the power steering lines, the gas tank replacement and new coolant lines and replace hard brake lines at the rear cross member, because they all rust and leak and that was like 3 evenings screwing around with that....in the driveway on cardboard.... good luck !

Those steel sleeves in the plastic original coolant lines is the main reason the stainless steel ones even exist, those sleeves wander out over time. You're lucky your lines stayed together this long, especially considering your long trip. Looks like you caught that just in time. Sadly its one of the many flaws these buses have, just replaced the ones in my bus with stainless too, since i was doing the subaru conversion anyway xD

NICE!! Yeah it did seem like they were coming out on the one pipe. Honestly other than the steel inserts coming out they were fine. I wouldn't hesitate to run them. When I took them out I tried to bend and snap them to get them in the garbage can, they were TOUGH. NOT brittle at all!!! idk what material they are, especially considering there age, but its the right stuff. They just creased, and turned white(with a LOT of force). Theres no way they'd ever break in the van and see that kind of stress. But with them inserts popping out, they'd definitely fail!!!
What kind did you get?? Did they fit good?

@@PostPros I got mine from TK-Carparts in Germany, mine were also for the 2.1 and Diesel - they didn't have the weird 90° bend in them that you had though, maybe you had the early model version, I think there are two versions for the 2.1. Mine fit very good, even got the stock steel hangers to work, though it was a tight fit in some places.

Wow, those lines were so much different from your original ones. I wonder what they were thinking when designing them! Glad you're getting them to work though.

They were definitely a little different. I even tried to find them on Go Westys page under 2WD 2,1 Vanagon. The pics they had looked different... Honestly I looked at every set of pipes they offer for every model and no pics looked like mine. Every pic looked different compared to these, I still don't know what they're for?!?😂 They said 2WD Go Westy on them and tried to search the numbers stamped on them but nothing was matching up... Its all good they've been on there for a while now and they're fine!!!🎉
      They'll be on there forever.
      Thanks again🤙

just watched the video on gowesty and they have that 90 degree kick... I talked to Rocky Mountain when I upgraded my 85 -- they said, oh, EJ25 and you want to go bigger (2.1 lines were larger diameter) and that's what they sent. Now my best man who installed these is wondering did he cross them up ? Came here to learn more.
