Saw him 11-16-2011 in Oklahoma, and I wanted to jump but I was afraid I'd fall & I wanted to hollar but the joint was to small! He was rockin' the place!
This is the best video of him that I have seen. I saw him in concert a couple of years ago and he had all of us out of our seats. Everyone got up out of their seats and didn't sit down again through his whole show. He is as good as ever if not better than ever. He has aged so well that he looks better now than ever. I cannot say enough good things about him and his music. He makes a song his own and I love it.
@@williamsherman1089 "anybody that's good never gets in" I wouldn't go quite That Far. Johnny R. always makes you want to dance--no matter where you are! I have a signed T-shirt by him and it wasn't easy getting to the front of the table--my friend pushed her way up. We saw him in Boston at the Charles River -- Oldies concerts that they used to have there--the good ole' days!👍
I saw Johnny at Billy Bobs Texas back in the early 2000’s twice and he was amazing. Super nice guy, signed autographs after the show and chatted with fans.
I had a sewing machine. Watched Yellow Submarine with my dad, kept running upstairs on the commercials, came down later in my version of Ringo’s pants. Made a couple dozen halter tops, back zip sleeveless bell-bottom bodysuits with nehru collars. Wild prints, peasant dresses, black velvet platforms with six-inch heels, dingo boots with Levi’s or Wrangler jeans….seeing Joni Mitchell live, and John Sebastian, and Blue Oyster Cult….Old Black Water, If You Could Read My Mind, Summer Breeze, City Of New Orleans, Wild Thing on the radio. 🙏🖖✌️🎶💕🌎
Favorite artist and singer every. Captured a positive and loving, happy vibe all of his life. Best show I ever saw in my life was with Johnny Rivers...See him while you can. Of all the legends, and he is one of them, he sounds the same and just makes you smile ...Great guy and the incredible performer.
Johnny Rivers is so hot as a musician! My father saw him live at the Whiskey Go Go in 1964....he would play Johnny Rivers LIVE AT THE WHISKEY GO GO all the time. He said Johnny Rivers was so good in person in 1964, they lined up and it took hours to get in, he packed them in like sardines. GET ARTIST!
I'm sure he has (or did). I stumbled into a conversation with Larry Knechtel out in Las Vegas years ago. He spent a moment reminiscing about playing shows with Johnny Rivers at the Whiskey A Go Go. A memorable interaction in my life.
I have seen him twice in the last two months and I will go see him every time I get the chance! He is an amazing timeless artist and his talent is so embedded that he sounds the same live as he does recorded, there are not many that can make that claim. He deserves to be in the hall of fame and I would love to see him get that honor. Keep right on a rock'in Johnny!
In the original version of the record, the piano was charted and played by legendary Wrecking Crew pianist Larry Knechtel. If that name doesn't ring a bell, it should because, as well as being the bassist for David Gates and Bread, Knechtel arranged and played the piano part for Simon and Garfunkel's Bridge Over Troubled Water as well as the Mamas and the Papas version of Words of Love. The strength of the keyboard part of those three pieces alone should be enough to cement a solid position for Mr. Knechtel in the rock and roll hall of fame.
The beastie boys will never be a freckle on Johnny Rivers ass, really one of the stupidest things I've read on you tube but then again you were probably born in 1980.
Damn! Listen to Johnny!!! Sounds good, looks good and rockin' out on the guitar!! You gotta love somebody that will bend down to turn his amp up and not miss a beat! I would've rather seen him playing guitar than watch the crowd!
I love the keyboard and solo! Too bad about the traffic on the stage! Excellent song where I wish that they played a few more chorus lines and kept the song going!
William Davis No, although he does seem to be enjoying himself. I am pretty much directly behind the black gal and you would catch glimpses of me. I am directly behind her at 3:12. FYI the old woman in the straw hat at 3:41 is Johnny's mother. She lived in Carmel Valley and was there that day.
@MissColleen1266 Skip Edwards is on keyboards, I do not know who he was referring to unless it was a Chef cooking for the venue he was playing. But Charlie Wood is on percussion (he does a GREAT job) and that is deffinitely Skip on Keys and GREAT would not even come close to describing his abilities! He can certainly tickle those Ivories but he can also play a MEAN accordian!
@caroleyahoo1965 I heard Johnny say, "Lets hear it for Chef John Keystone!" He does play the keyboard very well and that seems like a difficult piece to play.
@MissColleen1266 "Let's hear it for Chef John Pisto" - Monterey Restauranteur - Whaling Station Inn, as well as Chef & host of worldwide syndicated cooking show "Cookin' Monterey Style."
How is this man NOT in the R&R Hall of Fame????
Exactly right about that
Same question for Connie Francis.
He is White....
If I had a dime for every time heard this, I'd be RICH😂❤
The way it is now it's a bigger honor not to be in there, anybody that's good never gets in
JESUS CHRIST!!! Johnny is the ONLY singer that got BETTER with age! Absolutely FLAWLESS!!!!
Johnny Rivers is the man who can sing anything and make it sound amazing

Love love Johnny rivers he is the best
Johnny B Good rs
Look at this dudes greatness he got the crowd moving singing enjoying their self this is what life is all about right here
WHY this man is NOT in the rock & roll hall of fame is one of life's great mysteries!
Not a mystery, the RRHOF sucks. It was a joke ever since it was announced it would be in Cleveland.
He's too good for that, anybody that's good never gets in

Always loved this man's music. He is a Hall of Famer to me. A 71yo fan
This song introduced my to Boogie Woogie. The piano work of the original release was in a word; fantastic.

Since I have discovered his music again on my phone, I can't get enough of him!
How can you not live this song? This live version adds a new dimension.
I saw Johnny at Billy Bobs Texas back in the early 2000’s twice and he was amazing. Super nice guy, signed autographs after the show and chatted with fans.
So awesome! A real musician!
Ive got covid but this man has me rockin'! If movin helps clear the lungs, mine should be clear. Love you Johnny Rivers!
Wow, this man's voice is still going strong! Awesome classic love it!!!
8 tracks, halter tops, bell bottoms, and songs like this keep me thinking of happy days in the 70's.
How right you are, Reecie.
Yeah...and love beads

If that was here in Mississippi, we'd put the go - go dancers at whiskey a go go to shame! That's good music!

How can you not dance to this song!
IT WAS OUR MAIN SONG AT THE MARSHALL, TEXAS SKATING RINK, ALONG WITH "YOUR MOMMA DON'T DANCE", BY THE MAMAS AND THE PAPAS..
At 71yo grab a female dolly and get down
What a GREAT tune.
Johnny Rivers has no one to thank but the late great Larry Knechtel for the piano part.
I'm sure he has (or did). I stumbled into a conversation with Larry Knechtel out in Las Vegas years ago. He spent a moment reminiscing about playing shows with Johnny Rivers at the Whiskey A Go Go. A memorable interaction in my life.
Well as a musician..I so appreciate this talented man...he just keeps getting better wow! Sending love from Ontario Canada🇨🇦❤️🇨🇦 liked and subscribed!
A genuine rouser of a song!!

So great Johnny , and better and better with age, just like good red wine
What a Handsome dude!! And he can really sing and play , great voice!!
this song has a very special meaning to me. brings me to tears just to hear it. boogie woggie blues keep rolling..
Wow! Why is the legendary Johnny Rivers aging so much better than his fans? Hardly seems fair.
What a gift to the City of Monterey for Johnny to bless us with his talent.
Thanks

Agree 100%, Isaac. Knechtel was almost in a class by himself. Sensational, two-fisted gospel, country, rock, etc. Scary.
hall of shame...i say shame cause its a shame that MR. RIVERS IS NOT IN IT!
JDPackard That Hall is a JOKE. Beastie Boys in Johnny Rivers out, Jann Wenner and the rest of that committee are idiots
THE ROCK N ROLL HALL OF SHAME.......WHERE IS jOHNNY RIVERS
The beastie boys will never be a freckle on Johnny Rivers ass, really one of the stupidest things I've read on you tube but then again you were probably born in 1980.

My goddddd!!!!
I was there in the crowd. I am (was) standing behind the black gal in the neon green top.
Is that you in the USC shirt?
William Davis No, although he does seem to be enjoying himself. I am pretty much directly behind the black gal and you would catch glimpses of me. I am directly behind her at 3:12. FYI the old woman in the straw hat at 3:41 is Johnny's mother. She lived in Carmel Valley and was there that day.
