      ok, If reverse is ok than your double drum is blown. One side is forward and other other side is direct(3rd) the drum usually blows due to pressure spikes from a worn pressure regulator bore in the valvebody

    The CD4E is my favourite transmission so far, I’ve seen videos on others and don’t like them. I’ve rebuilt 2 CD4E transmissions and the second one didn’t go well do to various intentional oversights. I’ve also disassembled another one and have case cracked 2-4 of them at the wreckers to get the internals out, I’ve since purchased a slide hammer and hope to start leaving intact cases in my wake from now on.
    There are only a few problems these have that in a community based society could easily be taken care of as they aren’t totally integral to the design, one being the drums and the various things the shift kit fixes, another being the challenge with lineup when assembling from the outside (in vehicle partial rebuild), and the final being the filter location, the filter can be easily flushed without splitting the case and can actually come fully clean with chemical flushing but having it sit under the pan on the side and altering the design to accommodate these fluid passages would be a real game changer, that would of course add to the complexity slightly and increase the pan depth.

      @@Mr_Meowingtons well they have their flaws, but they had ways to correct them, the biggest is the sealing of the pump to main drum set, forward and direct often end up on at the same time but weakly

    Buenas amigo, te ago una consulta desde Argentina, tengo esta misma caja en mi auto, de repente se quedo sin trasmisión, como o donde podría obtener el funcionamiento de la caja y si hay forma de probarla ante de colocarla en el auto, desde ya gracias

    I have an '07 Escape 3.0 FWD I lost 2nd gear.. the shop says it's the 2-4 band..so..if I run it up to 3.5 grand..it shifts quite easily into 3rd...and then It seems to shift into 4th.? and when coasting down hill at around 70kph when I hit the O/D off switch.. it gears down..is this possible if it is indeed the 2-4 band?

    I have a 05 escape fwd. It started shifting harder then normal 1-2 and 2-3. It doesn't slip or make any weird noise. In your opinion Would a new valve body with a transgo shift kit installed and new solenoid pack fix this problem. The fluid isn't dirty and is full.

      First scan the car see if there are codes, you may have elevated line pressure

    Is it possible to avoid this type of catastrophe? Cause I plan on getting me a 01-07 Ford Escape. Any solutions?

      well, you could pull the valvebody out and install a shift kit.

    i have an 06 escape 3.0l awd. it was driving fine and than just didnt want to work anymore. i have no drive in any gear.the fluid looked milky, and im assuming there is water in it. was on a job at the time and havent given it any attention other than to drain the old fluid out. can you point me off in a direction i need to go please. im not a trans.mech, so i dont know how common it is for the trans to just stop working with out giving any indication that there is a problem.no loud noise, no odor, just seemed like it slipped into nuetral and thats it. i checked the linkage and every thing seems to be connected.

      when you say milky, looks like a milk shake? very possible filter is now clogged and the pump cannot get oil

      when you say it does not work automatically, what happens when placed in drive? Any codes present for the trans?

    How many psi of air do you use to do the air check (leak test)

      I use very little air maybe 30 psi, if you put heavy air to air check you may cover up if there is a leak in the drum or circuit, so i air check with very little air. Thanks for watching. Gary

    Is there any way to avoid these catastrophic failures in these transmissions? I'm thinking about buying a 01-07 ford escape 3.0 l. Thanks. 😃

      Not really, a lot of these problems are due to pressure spikes from the valvebody bores wearing out. I do shift kits in all of these

      Well, the first one went out at 85k on my 2007 Escape.. I bought a re manufactured trans & torque converter from Movartis and as per the mechanic everything else new as needed for the install. At 15K on the re manufactured unit I changed the trans oil hoping to have better results with this one. It's now hit 30k and the same thing happened. I believe it is the 2/4 band that broke like it did last time. It was throwing codes of PO732 and PO734... No more Ford, Mazda for me. This is a know problem with this trans and Ford refuses to do anything about it.
      We liked the car but 30K on a trans ? Oh... and this was supposed to have the " fix " for the problem.. Ridiculous...

      ​@@ngzcazI'm late now but if it was just the band , some shops are doing those for $400 my o7 band went out and it still drove till the frame cracked.

    Hey I have a 2004 ford escape and today when I was accelerating from a stop the car made a loud growl and shook a little. Are my clutches going bad or is it worse

      Gary Ferraro and the other day my rear passenger tire locked up and wouldn't move. I jacked up the car spun the tire and some rust fell then the wheel was free

      Probably whats happening is its shifting from first gear to third gear, after the shift put the car in manual 2nd see if the car pulls or the engine revs, but sounds like a broken band

      If this is shifting to 2nd but late, you need to look at a scan tool that shows live data, you have to see if its being commanded to shift that way. Another thing you can check is the TPS(throttle position sensor) this will make it shift late. After it makes the shift did you pull the shifter down to manual 2nd? when you step on the gas pedal does it hold the gear?

      There is a code present for the trans, have it scanned
