This is the best most detailed vid on youtube showing how to remove this transmission. Outstanding video work and commentary showing every nut and bolt in a logical work flow. Just perfect for the weekend wrencher to learn what would be the magnitude of the work involved to do the job.
So glad I found this! EXCELLENT walk-through and editing. Green circles make all the difference. Great production. Thank you.
This is one of the best Auto service video's I've seen!!
I totally agree !
I've done most of my own work for nearly 30 years..minor and major services. I've owned a few of these Ford Escapes and overall...love them...except for these CD4E transmissions in the first gens. You're worth every penny doing this job, and more. Thanks for the walk-through.
This is a fantastic detailed video. I’m currently underway in removing the transmission out of my 2008 Ford Escape and it’s a big project to handle in the cold out on my back in my garage, I was stuck when I realized I would have to pull the differential out. Didn’t even know what size “external torq socket” to use and have to go buy a set. Thanks for letting us know it was a 14! Great video. I can’t wait to get a new transmission in his car so I can sell it.
Getting ready to pull the trans on my son's 2002 Escape. Your part 1 and part 2 videos are very detailed and should be all I need, by far the most informative video I've seen. Thank you
It’s very helpful that you’re working on one that has everything factory, that way everything stays visual
Step One: Remove the engine and transmission from a parts car. Step Two: Remove transmission from parts car engine. Step Three: Remove dead Transmission from destination car. Step Four: Install parts car transmission to destination car. This video has been a great help in becoming familiar with what needs to be done. Thank You!
Excellent quality video with plenty of light to see and your camera work is rock solid. Your editing with the painted circles around bolts was awesome. You speak great straight shooting english which is rare to hear these days...love it. Excellent reference video for anyone doing this work.
Thanks for specifying the torx sizes. Overall a great how to video. Thank you
I wish all videos were this clear and concise. Great work. Thanks.
It’s almost too clear, makes it seem easier than it is lol
Great video. It is so much easier having the right tool for the job. And a nice shop helps.
Nice work!! I especially like your use of mechanic "tricks". Very well done!
Best video I've seen on this! Keep up the good work and thank you!
Thank you for the great video. You covered everything perfectly and left nothing out.
Excellent job.
such a clear instruction. a very interesting approach on sequencing the right way how the work should be done...bravo!! tq so much.
Excellent video; very well shown and communicated.
Best how to video on the platform. Period. Thanks for taking the time.
Great video. Backyard mechanic's nightmare... I know now that I won't be doing this job on the gravel driveway at home!
I did it in soft sand and also in snow in the fall and winter
@@aterack833 , how high did you have to jack up the vehicle in order to get the tranny out?
Good job you where very clear and informative. thank you
Nice work! Great video! Thanks!
Well done good Sir. Thanks for sharing.
Great video thank you for sharing
Very good vid. very informative.
Awesome video, prolly best one out there!
The 4wd cd4e can be pulled without removing the tcase and without touching the exhaust. Takes some careful prying and making sure the tranny is secured to your jack. Saves a lot of time if all you are doing is the tranny.
I was wondering if this were possible, living in the rustbelt I would rather not remove ANY exhaust manifold if it can be avoided. THANKS!
Hey man, can I email you or something?
THANK YOU SO MUST
You wouldn't maybe consider another video on how to rebuild that transmission, would 'ya?...lol
Muy buen video
A lady friend just bought her tribute and the auto blew up, I have a 6 speed manual I hope will fit
You'd think it would be easier to drop the whole thing through the bottom and split the engine from the transmission on the floor. This job is a pain in the a__. You did a good job on this one though.
my escape is a 2.8l 2009 and i am hoping it also only has 4 bolts holding the trans to the motor.
Excellent video! Swapping a transmission following this video, has gone very well thanks to you.
No chance you did some videos for the installation by any chance? 😂
I usually just pull the whole power train using ratchet straps and something taller than the engine beside the vehicle, I used an engine hoist but a vehicle with a taller bumper may also work, or something in the hitch receiver of a pickup
where are the torque converter bolts in ford escape 2006 2.3l 4 cyl?
will a used replacement transmission in a 2012 escape 2.5cyl 6spd automatic need to be programmed at a dealership once the transmission is replaced? middle of the project now, love the video!!!
Guessing you're down south somewhere due to lack of severe rust on the subframe
Buen video y el único de escape 2010 o Mazda trib.
Where is the switch backup lights location ?
You good 👍 👍
Great video I did a transmission swap my self and once I installed a new one Had Same problem sounds like it’s shifts but won’t move at all sometimes I will engage but once you change gear will do the same. Is there anything am missing ? I’ve tried adjusting my cable and checked the sensors. You think it might be electrical issue ? Is there any schematics available for this particular transmission. Am working on a Ford Escape 08 auto v6
@6:33 this is why i have a huge exhaust tick now after they fixed my trans....
hello i have 2006 ford escape limited v6 autormatic i can find a reverse swith or a sensoer for a reverce on my car can you show me it you know
On my back hard install
I just need to get to the clutch slave cylinder inside of the manual transmission on the driver side.
dose the transfer case have to be taken of before the transition?
How different is this or similar to removing a 6 speed auto in a 2009?
10:10 for you dudes who haven't done this before, try not to get a face full of 3/4" ball bearings and runny grease, then hours of frustration trying to repack the cv joint
How would you charge to remove 1
hey i pay car repair service to replace clutch on my mazda tribute 2.0 4x4 2001year, and now i have problem starting car, i have sometimes backfire, sometimes just cranking but no start, what wires should i check that they have to disassembly, maybe they didnt put it back correctly?
Is it possible to sneak just the torque converter out and back in without having to drop the tranny out completely?
No
I have a ford escape that was rear ended with a rebuilt transmission and good motor that I want to swap both into another escape. Is it easier to take the whole thing out as a unit without splitting it? I'll probably be doing this without a lift, is that possible?
Generally speaking, yes - I would definitely try to pull them out together as one unit. You should be able to pull them out without a lift - as long as there's enough room for the transmission to clear everything coming out through the top.
Is there any difference in the transmission itself between the FWD and 4WD models?
Most likely no
Where the passenger axle goes in , it's different. So a pto will not mesh to a fwd transmission. Otherwise they look the same.
How many hours it takes for the hole job
According to alldata, remove and replace should take approximately 9hr.
@@MakeItEasyMechanic
Thank u sir
@@MakeItEasyMechanic How much is the total bill for removal, rebuild and installation?
Definitely a nightmare
Is it 4x4?
the one in the video is, yes. (AWD technically)
WoW, Whatever happened to simple, Im getting rid of my Ford to much Bull ony 😆
Technology sux, back in the day we could take out maybe 4 or five bell housing bolts, drop the tailshaft and have the gearbox on the ground in 15 minutes...I really don't think modern technology is worth it. Thank you and Cheers
My thoughts exactly. The whole time I was watching this I was thinking back to when I swapped the trans in my 88 Jeep Cherokee. I think the whole job took me less than three hours in the back yard with limited tools and less experience. Local shop wants $3K to put in a used trans & man, I could do it myself over a weekend, but shit I just don't want to :/
Thats probably a reason the economy is faltering. The way cars are designed now is a luxury. Luxury costs more human effort to maintain. Its expensive.
Wow what a disaster of engineering. I hate this car so much.

your best bet is to take the car back to the repair facility and describe the issue - have them check their work.
