The worst part was Lucy's face after David's "ghost" dissapears on the moon. Thats the sort of lost and hopeless sadness we all experience when we lose someone. Something in normal everyday life will trigger a memory and the person will seem like they're right there next to you, next second reality comes crushing back and you remember that they are gone forever.
She’s experiencing a cascade of complex emotions over the loss of David. But you can also see drive in her. She’s not going to let David’s sacrifice be in vain and not take what he has given her for granted. She got to the moon and survived, now she’s going to make sure that her love’s sacrifice wasn’t wasted.
To make it even worse, a lot of people speculate based of how Falco reacts in the game when V asks about David and crew and how Lucy is raising her hands as it fades to black she removed her helmet.
You know what makes this whole thing even more sad? The whole show is essentially him letting down his dead mom. She wanted him to live a good, long life. Instead, he lived a life of crime and died young. Add on the fact that all his friends died, and he left behind a heartbroken girlfriend… yeah, this show was depressing.
Only person who doesn't believe the biggest lie in the world, which is called Night City and its fame, can get out of it. Depressing, maybe? but not so negative.
You are right but its not like he had a choice. After mom died he kinda had nothing left already. Yet he was able to find a new family, a new love, i would say he made the full use of his borrowed time. It not his fault the city just sucks. From the start when the trauma team left his mom for dead, when the blackmarket doctor fkn trick him that his mom is stable but not letting him see her and after he paid a hell price he told him she is suddenly dead and make hom pay for creamation. I already hated the city. The city turned him the way he is.

I finished it today and while I didn't cry watching it, now watching other people's reactions made me tear up. Such a gem of a show and I felt so sorry for the guy at 12:00. Seeing how much it touched him made me cry.

"Let's go David, all the way to the top" Man I couldn't hold it in when the montage started. I was a mess until the credits rolled. This one of those anime that hit like a truck and just leave you with your emotions. Truly a great show.
The quick, quiet, and brutal death characterizes it as a normal or average event. But when you connect with a character in the show and they receive such a quick sendoff, it seems unfair. It goes to show how valuable yet fragile life is.

The choice to kill or spare Smasher at the end of CP2077 is the most pointless choice in gaming. I dunno why anybody would ever spare that motherfucker, especially after Edgerunners.

@@caiusdrakegaming8087 Rebecca was always a part of the anime, however, at some point CDPR wanted to take her out, since they figured a loli character didn't belong in a cyberpunk story. Trigger told them that the loli was staying regardless, and the rest is history as they say.
Rebecca was originally part of the story, Trigger studio showed like the plot and the concepts arts of the characters, and CD Projekt wanted to dont do Rebecca but Tigger insisted that she was necessary.

On AoT, the titans were inevitably stronger there was absolutely no chance saving Erens mom and that was sad as hell, but here with David when Trauma team arrived, they chose to let his mom die when they could have absolutely saved her if they chose to be decent human beings instead of corporate lackeys, the following scene were his mom just came out in a jar like a fukkin coke dispenser was disgustingly unfair and depressing, and you know its because its Cyberpunk this thing happens all the time.
i just stopped watching because Rebeccas death left a really bad taste in my mouth. I will never have a positive review of the game or the show because how stupid her death was. it pretty much ruined the cyberpunk Universe for me. not that i was all that attached to it to begin with, i was just attached to the character and when she died i could really care less about continuing the story at all.

Hearing this song when playing cyberpunk 2077 before edgerunners, I thought it was just an ok song, the show definitely brought new life to the song and it's one of my favorites from cyberpunk now.
Piler died, dorio and maine died. I had prepared becca to die too. But not like that. I was kinda pissed but it was over in 5 second when I saw her body I was like welp, there goes my hope. Its like what becca said when her bro died. I didt mind she died, but the way she died piss me off. But then again its adamn smasher, at least she died better than her brother.
The last guy looks like me watching the show, alone, crying in the dark. This show makes the ending of cyberpunk looks like a happy ending, cuz edgerunners just crush your emotions at the end.
When Nightly heard Smasher say David would make a good construct, you can see that fear. He knew exactly what that would do and he was terrified. Smasher killing him was mercy, and that's kinda crazy to think about.
David was too young to really know what a construct was and he eventually decided he'd rather die because he achieved his life's purpose and that was keeping Lucy safe and sending her to the moon which is why he smiled at the end
@@andrjsjan4231 So in Cyberpunk 2077 Keanu Reeve's character is a Construct of the rockerboy Johnny Silverhand, and they used a thing called Soulkiller to remove his consciousness from his body and out it into a chip, which then gets stuck in your head in the game. Constructs are people trapped in chips that Arasaka plans to use later for either weapons or moving someone into a new body after their old one fails.
It sucks when you know exactly how this feels. I've had someone that changed my life only for them to die out of no where; they died young. That part where she saw David on the moon and him suddenly vanishing is such a real feeling you get. The best way I can describe it is that I feel something in my brain that feels empty as if I'm floating in nothingness. That part hurt me so much.

Sounds like my trip with Plastic Memories. To be honest, I had the negative feeling from the final scenes, but didnt shed any tears till I watched this reaction. I wonder why it felt different here than Plastic Memories, cause I still cry every time
This has been THE greatest thing that came out of 2022. So horrifyingly, shockingly, terribly awesome in all the best and worst ways. Something that made even the most hardened anime watcher blubber and burst into tears from the rollercoaster of emotions it successfully managed to inflict everyone with. Not gonna lie, even got me going. Truly a Masterpiece.
Speak for yourself, it was a great show and I liked all the characters, but I didn't even come close to crying. I didn't even feel sad, I just felt pleased that the show had such a quality ending. Also the best thing to come out of 2022 is made in abyss season 2.

Weirdly, Maine's death fucked me up the most alongside David's. I say "weirdly" because while I liked Maine, I never really felt like I was AS invested in him as I was David & Lucy. But when everything came down, with Dorio and the cyberpsychosis, I kind of just... died inside.

Like that was the Oh shit button that everyone realized there is no plot armor. 2) Similar to Jinx in Arcane (with Vi and Caitlyn) I love how in the moment Adam Smasher literally crushes Rebecca we get reminded... "This isn't a love story between David and Lucy.... This is a horror movie and Adam Smasher is Jason Voorhees, Michael Myers, etc." I appreciate antagonists that can metaphorically (and sometimes literally) steal the show with a "oh you thought this was your love story? Naw Bitch, this is *MY* story."

But we all know Lucy is way more sadder than we all together. I mean just imagine: you lost the person you had the best connection to, and you can't get him back. He's just gone and you can't do anything. The only things you have, are the memories..
Many people IRL live that. And for many worse than Lucy. David had it best, he got to die on his terms, fulfilling the wishes of those he cared about and saving the one he cared about the most. Who could ever trust some girl after that? even if shes hot.

@Belas Unhas Yep. As a cyberpunk series, I expected everyone to die. What I didn't expect was to see Lucy trying to come to terms with the loss after. The most painful part of the show was knowing that Lucy escaped, but she'll spend most of her life trapped in that past missing David. It hurt us seeing everyone die, sure, but it hurt more to see Lucy suffering even more.
NO anime has had this strong an impact on me to the point where it lingers in my head constantly. It's that song that plays while reminding us that everyone we cared about had died, then David dies. The song then continues with Lucy being all alone on the moon seeing mirages of David which pretty much buries you further into sadness. Depressing as hell and makes me wish I was a millionaire with power and influence that could higher a team of animations to create an alternate ending that's happy, for non-profit, of course, which makes it legal. 😥😢😭

It's even more fitting if you rewatch the intro animation again. That faceless silhouette that shoots David? It's not Adam Smasher or even Arasaka; it's a skyline shot of Night City. Night City is the "entity" that killed David, Rebecca, Gloria and all of the others, and it will go on to kill so many, many more. "Wrong city", indeed.
8:10 i liked this guy in the dark the most, and the guy and girl. both of the guys didn't try to be a man and stoic about it and joke off what's going on and just embraced the emotion. the scene with Lucy on the moon, when she witnesses David one more time, that is not just a memory but her seeing him. they experienced that BD together in the same place, and BDs leave fragments in your mind that you can see in reality, so she saw him there. and the little laugh she does, happy to see him and remember that, is so saddening. the fact that they left the ending wide shot open too... did she remove the helmet and die there? or did she come to peace with it by act of embraced the sun and where she's at?

I finished it today and while I didn't cry watching it, now watching other people's reactions made me tear up. Such a gem of a show and I felt so sorry for the guy at 12:00. Seeing how much it touched him made me cry.

Yeah Night City is honestly just a loss the second you walk in. David got lucky he (although the relationship never would have really happened) found love and a real crew (minus kiwi she back stabbed the only people who were real with her)

@@airsoftmandalorian2881 Lucy is all alone, probably closed her heart off again away from the world, and I think the only thing that stopped her from taking off that helmet right there and then on the Moon was the thought that David gave his life to rescue her and keep HER alive, so it would be a disservice to David if she..you know...but the fact that Lucy is alive makes me hope that Smasher got some last orders, to not kill David and instead hit him with something to knock him out, Arasaka was too interested in that boy's ability to withstand cybernetics and even RETURN from cyber psychosis(it seems mental instability is the biggest catalyst, so successfully saving Lucy unlike everyone else who had died before and Lucy kissing him as if to say I'm here plus all that emotional connection that exists between humans who are a couple, is what brought him out of cyber psychosis(still had some immune response though like coughing up blood and a little jittering but nothing like before anymore), when according to conventional knowledge that still doesn't fully understand cyberpsychosis, he should have never been able to come back ever again, but he did and after that didn't have any more episodes for the rest of the fight).

"Let's go David, all the way to the top" Man I couldn't hold it in when the montage started. I was a mess until the credits rolled. This one of those anime that hit like a truck and just leave you with your emotions. Truly a great show.
The quick, quiet, and brutal death characterizes it as a normal or average event. But when you connect with a character in the show and they receive such a quick sendoff, it seems unfair. It goes to show how valuable yet fragile life is.
The end of the anime created a collective thought of people with the same sentiment “Adam Smasher Must Die” and risen the difficulty for Adam Smasher himself.

On AoT, the titans were inevitably stronger there was absolutely no chance saving Erens mom and that was sad as hell, but here with David when Trauma team arrived, they chose to let his mom die when they could have absolutely saved her if they chose to be decent human beings instead of corporate lackeys, the following scene were his mom just came out in a jar like a fukkin coke dispenser was disgustingly unfair and depressing, and you know its because its Cyberpunk this thing happens all the time.
I know its always so jarring to see characters so young and energetic get killed so brutally

i just stopped watching because Rebeccas death left a really bad taste in my mouth. I will never have a positive review of the game or the show because how stupid her death was. it pretty much ruined the cyberpunk Universe for me. not that i was all that attached to it to begin with, i was just attached to the character and when she died i could really care less about continuing the story at all.

People saying the scene that fucked their minds was rebecca, but for me, i started my crisis when david was being desmembered, and so i caught myself crying with angryness and unhope till the fucking end. This show is an destroying experience that i'll remember forever, david never deserved anything that happen in his whole life, and most, when his mother died.
Since i'm a depressive bipolar, i had to take my medicine to control my feelings, i was destroyed, didn't expect that coming. Very well made show, one of the most brutal shit i have seen in years.

The last guy looks like me watching the show, alone, crying in the dark. This show makes the ending of cyberpunk looks like a happy ending, cuz edgerunners just crush your emotions at the end.
When Nightly heard Smasher say David would make a good construct, you can see that fear. He knew exactly what that would do and he was terrified. Smasher killing him was mercy, and that's kinda crazy to think about.
David was too young to really know what a construct was and he eventually decided he'd rather die because he achieved his life's purpose and that was keeping Lucy safe and sending her to the moon which is why he smiled at the end

@@andrjsjan4231 So in Cyberpunk 2077 Keanu Reeve's character is a Construct of the rockerboy Johnny Silverhand, and they used a thing called Soulkiller to remove his consciousness from his body and out it into a chip, which then gets stuck in your head in the game. Constructs are people trapped in chips that Arasaka plans to use later for either weapons or moving someone into a new body after their old one fails.

It sucks when you know exactly how this feels. I've had someone that changed my life only for them to die out of no where; they died young. That part where she saw David on the moon and him suddenly vanishing is such a real feeling you get. The best way I can describe it is that I feel something in my brain that feels empty as if I'm floating in nothingness. That part hurt me so much.
I've had the same experience with my best friend. One day she's enjoying Christmas and the next she gets a heart attack, then caught COVID in the ICU. Hope you're doing alright.

This has been THE greatest thing that came out of 2022. So horrifyingly, shockingly, terribly awesome in all the best and worst ways.
Something that made even the most hardened anime watcher blubber and burst into tears from the rollercoaster of emotions it successfully managed to inflict everyone with.
Not gonna lie, even got me going.
Truly a Masterpiece.
Speak for yourself, it was a great show and I liked all the characters, but I didn't even come close to crying. I didn't even feel sad, I just felt pleased that the show had such a quality ending. Also the best thing to come out of 2022 is made in abyss season 2.

All the deaths had me like "Damn..." but Rebecca's death fr punched me in the gut mannnnneeee I was watching it all in one go at night in my room and shit broke my heart
Weirdly, Maine's death fucked me up the most alongside David's.
I say "weirdly" because while I liked Maine, I never really felt like I was AS invested in him as I was David & Lucy.
But when everything came down, with Dorio and the cyberpsychosis, I kind of just... died inside.

I wanted to mention 2 things;
1) While the saddest moment in the entire show for me, I like how most everyone suddenly feels at the exact moment Rebecca died... It just meant that everyone is dying.... Like that was the Oh shit button that everyone realized there is no plot armor.
2) Similar to Jinx in Arcane (with Vi and Caitlyn) I love how in the moment Adam Smasher literally crushes Rebecca we get reminded... "This isn't a love story between David and Lucy.... This is a horror movie and Adam Smasher is Jason Voorhees, Michael Myers, etc." I appreciate antagonists that can metaphorically (and sometimes literally) steal the show with a "oh you thought this was your love story? Naw Bitch, this is *MY* story."
Honestly my oh shit button went way off before Rebecca died....mines went when Maine went crazy and killed dorio...I was like "welp this gonna be like akame ga kill" and boy was I right...

Riot already said Arcane isn't the Cannon universe which gives them free rain to just flip shit on its head, which they have done. Tho idk feels weird to compare Jinx to Adam as Jinx just flys off on a whim and Adam is more like focused destruction.

After seeing the ending there is a big crack in my heart... And it is even bigger after seeing this 8 times more.. I am now really devastated. But we all know Lucy is way more sadder than we all together. I mean just imagine: you lost the person you had the best connection to, and you can't get him back. He's just gone and you can't do anything. The only things you have, are the memories..
Many people IRL live that. And for many worse than Lucy. David had it best, he got to die on his terms, fulfilling the wishes of those he cared about and saving the one he cared about the most.
Though their relationship never should have began, as Lucy straight up tries to rob him when they meet and then sets him up to be gutted like a fish for his cyberware. Who could ever trust some girl after that? even if shes hot.
you know, what hurt the most is seeing lucy blank depressed expression at the ending.. to me, that hurt way even more than any death in the series, yes it hurt even more than seeing rebecca died, u cant deny it
@Belas Unhas Yep. As a cyberpunk series, I expected everyone to die. What I didn't expect was to see Lucy trying to come to terms with the loss after. The most painful part of the show was knowing that Lucy escaped, but she'll spend most of her life trapped in that past missing David. It hurt us seeing everyone die, sure, but it hurt more to see Lucy suffering even more.
Rebecca's death was more shocking than sad to me.
The series lasts 5 hours. The pain, all life.

NO anime has had this strong an impact on me to the point where it lingers in my head constantly. It's that song that plays while reminding us that everyone we cared about had died, then David dies. The song then continues with Lucy being all alone on the moon seeing mirages of David which pretty much buries you further into sadness.
Depressing as hell and makes me wish I was a millionaire with power and influence that could higher a team of animations to create an alternate ending that's happy, for non-profit, of course, which makes it legal. 😥😢😭

Night City is the "entity" that killed David, Rebecca, Gloria and all of the others, and it will go on to kill so many, many more. "Wrong city", indeed.

8:10 i liked this guy in the dark the most, and the guy and girl. both of the guys didn't try to be a man and stoic about it and joke off what's going on and just embraced the emotion. the scene with Lucy on the moon, when she witnesses David one more time, that is not just a memory but her seeing him. they experienced that BD together in the same place, and BDs leave fragments in your mind that you can see in reality, so she saw him there. and the little laugh she does, happy to see him and remember that, is so saddening. the fact that they left the ending wide shot open too... did she remove the helmet and die there? or did she come to peace with it by act of embraced the sun and where she's at?
