    ST1100... A true rider's bike. I've been riding and touring since 1986 and have owned many Hondas, all good machines. A couple of road trip comfort necessities that work for me... I'm not a fan of throttle locks. But I LOVE using a throttle rocker for long highway travel. The leverage allows a more relaxed grip, reducing fatigue, but still gives me precise control. And one more item I WILL NOT LEAVE HOME WITHOUT when taking long rides is a sheepskin seat cover. The fuzzy look is goofy, yes, but the extra padding and, more importantly, the breathability and coolness, (especially when compared to black vinyl!) is fantastic. I just punched some holes in a piece and lace it over my seat with paracord. I highly recommend you try this! One time and I'll wager you'll be convinced! Thanks for showing us your bike. I'd be interested in seeing more bike-related content from you!

    I am absolutely in agreement on the cup holder. I added one to my bike... went to a boat store, and bought a cup holder, attached it to the handlebar with a hose clamp!

    You have one very nice machine there! Beautiful red. Makes me long for my touring days. I go back as far as the Vetter fairing days. Remember those?

    Nice bike! You are right, they are dirt cheap and under the radar in USA. I bought mine two years ago with many upgrades and 25,000 miles for a song. It rides like a dream! Thanks for the great video. There aren’t too many videos on this bike. I have the ST and a Yamaha XT350 for beating around on short trips and off-road. Very little money into two great bikes. I know way too many people that think you need to buy a $25,000 Harley to have fun!😝 If they only knew!

    This sunday I'm going for a test ride on a '99 ST1100. I've had a CB Seven Fifty which was a comfortable bike and simply indestructible but lacked just a bit of oomph.
    I currently have a Suzuki Bandit 1200 but I found out it's not the bike for me. Perhaps if I were 10 years younger, but my back and wrists hurt after half an hour.
    The ST1100 looks like the perfect bike for me. I don't need fast, I need comfort.
    Plus I really like that Sargent saddle. If I'm buying that ST1100 this sunday I'm going to look for that saddle too. It looks really comfy!
    Thanks for this video, you have a very nice bike!

    Nice video. I have a black '99 ST 1100 & love it. Unfortunately it has spent most of the this year in the garage since purchasing a new black 2019 Goldwing. Highly recommended adding one to your stable.

    Rob .. Started on a Valkyrie Tourer in 1998, but went in the reverse direction from most. 48K on the Valkyrie .. then 10K on a 2002 VTX1800 .. 38K on a ST1300ABS. Found my niche on a used 1998 CBR XX now with 58K miles. What can I say .. old bicyclist don't die, they just ride that way.

    thanks for your vids...just contacted a guy on Offer UP with a same year ST1100, 34K and looks like I'll get it for about $2,000.. it was listed for about 10 months and he had lowered the price from 2,700 to 2,200.. very well taken care of... can't believe the value and yes I've owned 5 Goldwings, 3 BMW R bikes.. etc.. will go through your vids... I'm short at 5'8" so I think I'll get the risers you use.. didn't initially consider this bike because of seat height but just couldn't pass up the value... God Bless Brother..

    I didn't know you were into bikes. I like the style. I got a 1996 cbr 600 with 37k miles and it just keeps going. Honda makes good bikes. Not a fan of the half helmets though just for safety reasons but that's a sweet bike.

      Robert Jung I’m usually pretty emotionally connected to the sound my motorcycles make, and the ST sounds like a John Deere Gator. But it’s my favorite bike I’ve ever owned. It’s that good.

      @@TheApostleP Sound is a bit dampened and tinny, but fine with me. Personally I dislike the loud bikes of the day, I'd rather drive around than shout to the world "HEY! LOOK AT ME". And in tunnels the loud ones are just horrible, but again, just my 2 cents

    That's a very nice looking bike. I've got a '98 in green. How did you get your plastics looking so good? They seem to be a darker shade of grey than the original? Looks amazing.

    I think your wear pattern on your grips is normal. Think about this... as you twist the throttle, you hand moves stationary on the grip as the throttle rocks. But, as you move the left hand for various reasons, you are sliding across the surface of the grip with no associated movement by the grip. It's all friction on the left one.

    I have a 1998 St1100 in black. You explain that bike very well. I also would like to raise my handle bars. Did you have to buy longer cables with those risers. I have bought a different riser that raise the bars about inch and half up and a inch half or so back. I have not put them on yet. I really might rather have the ones you have. Any info you give me would be greatly appreciated. Your motorcycle looks good. It looks well taken care of.

    • @TheApostleP
      @TheApostleP  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      William Gibbs Good news, William - you can raise the bars up to 3.5” over stock without changing cables or lines. You will have to remove the small line clamp from the front fork brace, however. That will release the “S” curve it makes in the front brake line, and it’s plenty long when that is done. No other mods are necessary. Just to help out your figment, I’m 6’ tall with a 32” inseam and a slightly longer than average reach. I find the 2.5” riser to be perfect after 12K miles of riding. It lets me sit quite upright with arms fully extended, but with just a slight break in the elbows, I can be in a nice aggressive position for the twisties. Hope that helps.

      Thank you so much for responding to my question. I think I am may go with the" Rox Risers" that you have. I payed little for the ones I have. This is very good news. Now I can moved forward. It will also make nice to attach accessories to the handle bars. Bill from Cincinnati , Ohio.

    Did you find that adding the risers hindered your rearward visibility through the mirrors any? I had a BMW K1200 that had risers and it moved my hands to a position where they blocked my line of sight to the mirrors. Thanks.

    • @TheApostleP
      @TheApostleP  2 ปีที่แล้ว

    How tall are you and how is the buffeting with that windshield and is it still comfortable on hot days and has it had any effect on fuel economy?

    • @TheApostleP
      @TheApostleP  8 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I’m 6 feet tall. Buffeting is minimal, and “tunable” using the adjustable vent. It’s still comfortable on hot days, again with the adjustable vent. I can’t comment on fuel economy because I really didn’t put many miles on with the factory screen. I can tell you it would personably run 400 miles per tank if I tried, but I only have a 150 mile butt.
