I bought a 1993 ST1100 brand new and I still have it 27 years later in Candy Glory Red and if you have a rad leak then I suggest you tighten the rad hose clamps . Mine did the same thing and problem solved and here in Canada it is also a rare bike . ( not for Sale )
I have one of these, finest motorcycle I've owned and I've had most. Superb low center of gravity handling characteristics, prefer it over GoldWing for sure, and any BMW or Kaw or Suz. Reasonable used prices. In its class you will not find better. Great video by the way. Thx.
I ride this EXACT same bike a 1995 ST1100 ....the handling and comfort is phenomenal... I can hang with my buddies who ride Hayabusas, and Ninja 1400's and lean in the curves as well as they do. So much fun and I never run out of gas when I ride because it has such a huge gas tank.
One my friends from Indianapolis has a ST1100. He has toured extensively with his & knocks down some staggering single day mileage numbers. It's an supremely capable motorcycle! Enjoy!
I had a '96 same color and one of the best bikes I have ever owned! Smooth and fast. Great for long distances! You will love it especially with the modified Handle bars! Enjoy!
Little bit of radiator stop leak will fix her right up i think. Then a nice coolant system flush after 100 miles or so to get all the excess stop leak crud out of there. What a clean example, same vintage as myself, matter of fact... and nice work on that fender Rob. 👌👌 haha

I was never really into big touring bikes, nay, I hate the look of most of them - except for the new Dredd movie's bike, and choppers without plastic -, but two days ago I just saw a white one in my city taking a corner right in front of me, and as much I am in love with retro stuffs, somehow this bike really got my attention. I think it had the police colors, and now I really want one of these:S

A good bike. I did a baby built 1000 years ago on an 81 SUzuki 1100. My ass was so sore but the guys on the ST1100 looked like they were in much better shape along with the Goldwing and BMW riders. The first guy to finish was nearly 70 years old riding a bright red with a white trellis frame Ducati fitted with spare gas tank piped to the rear seat position. I'll never forget that.

I've had 2 of these.Brilliant bikes.Got a mint zx9r just now which looks spectacular,but is bloody uncomfortable.Just have to figure a way to sneak another past my wife,keep the 9r,and also finish my project Gpx600r🤔
nice bike (wife wont let me get one live on long island)guess they worked it out front fender looks so close to body seems it might bounce into it. nice area you live lot of room for a bike . have fun on your trip (great toys).
On jackets, I'd suggest actual race gear as it works best: perfed leather jacket with armor everywhere, 1.5mm leather, perfed for air flow and then just use a rain jacket cover when things get cool. These jackets provide the best protection, as race guys attest. Cortech is a good brand of true racing gear.
My experience with "hard seats" is the harder the better. This is because when you put all of your supportive weight on it, it's going to give, and usually just the right amount. If I can easily push down with my fingers on a seat, I usually find it bottoming out and very unsupportive.
Best Bike ever made especially if longevity is the main goal. I have a 98 with 70,000 miles. When I ride with others sometimes the older and newer bikes in the groups have issues. The 98 st1100 has never had a service issue. I have the same risers. Did you remove the handlebar balancers.? If so, have you experienced any issues.?
Nice Bike, I have a 1998 and I don't see any styling differences, I guess with a great bike why fix something if it ain't broke. I do need to get a much higher riding handlebars because the slight lean is kinda bad on my not so young back :), any ideas on what height of handlebars will give me that almost Goldwing sitting feel. see my bike on Max1Chase1, title Our ST1100 Maiden Voyage. Just bougt this summer the same bike you have, '91 model with just 60.000miles on a clock No ABS. I get 60 miles with only 1.5 gallons. Everything is stock on the bike. I would like that Clearview windshield( it's expensive though for export to Europe its almost 370$) and a little bit raised bars. My model has only 53KW(72HP) its made for some European markets. Its a damn downgrade for such a bike, they did it because of noise reduction. The bike just eat miles after miles. Just changed fork oil to 10W-20, but for a long rides and comfort I would use 5W anyway. My next bike is going to be ST1300.
Scott Mackenzie No. the only thing that wasn’t quite long enough was the front brake hose, but removal of a clamp on the fork gave it the slack it needed. No issues.
No issues with performance or comfort, Caesar. I did take one trip in which I had to fight a fouling spark plug. I just had to face the fact that a 40+ year old motorcycle really shouldn’t be depended on for trouble-free touring.

The first gen Concours engine was a 1000cc, not 1300. Just so you'll know. I had one. It's a much more exciting bike to ride with that inline 4's growl, but it's very buzzy and less refined.
That's what I'm riding today the 1986 Concours, tomorrow I'm bringing home a 1992 ST 1100. Totally different bikes, I also had a 1996 BMW r1100rt that was it's own animal. The Concours is decidedly the most exciting ride of the three but it doesn't get 46-50 mpg and it doesn't eat the miles as easily. California here I come. From Fort Worth, Texas.

@@EEEBA1 I really don’t replace it, per se. My bike trip agenda just changed. I’ve gone from long trips from home to parts unknown, to destination rides we trailer to. Basically, I’ve gone from long relaxing bike tours to faster more technical riding in specific locations.
age of the bike doesn't matter especially Japanese bikes if you maintain the vehicle that makes a difference, I have owned many Honda motorcycles never had an issue I took care of them and maintained them not just ride them
Handlebar risers are a considerable error, they reduce the handling of the machine DEMONSTRABLY and make it less stable when moving around. The bike was designed for an ever so slight forward lean, and this moves the center of gravity of rider forward and down, where it should be. Not recommended at all. I removed them and put them in a box.
