Yeah! I was really impressed, 100% of the credit goes to folks on reddit for guides/method

Thank you! I'm really excited by the toner transfer - it worked way better than I was expecting on the 1st attempt. I happened to already have a laser jet printer or it would have been somewhat cost probative though

Thanks Asa. I'm a noob at 3Dprinting - I just recently bought a Prusa MK4, and it is an amazing workhorse! I didn't know that the Prusa slicer allowed pauses and color changes! I'm definitely going to read upon that!
I've watched a couple of your videos, and I have found them interesting and informative - thank you. There is one thing I'll mention though ... the audio seems to be ever so slightly out of sync with the video. It's a bit distracting, but one can get used to it. Just thought I'd mention it in case it has escaped your notice.

Thanks for watching! A Mk4 is a great place to start
A few people have commented on the Audio/Video sync - I changed the audio recording for my next video so hopefully I get it properly fixed

Very cool. I had never heard of toner transfer but I'm definitely going to check it out. Unrelated, what sort of enclosure do you use for your Prusa?

    • @AsaMakes
      @AsaMakes  ปีที่แล้ว +1

Thanks! I only learned of it recently from reddit
I use the original Prusa enclosure, it's great but pretty costly. I made a review video on it but that's the short version: it's excellent, I love them, I wish they were half the price

@Asa Makes OH perfect I'll check it out. I got a Prusa Enclosure delivered last week but I'm waiting for my Mk3.9 upgrade before I put it all together. It's been so hard to find reviews, very excited to watch yours!

I didnt know about the toner transfer option. Ive done the stop your printer at certain heights for different colors. But the other two ive heard of, but dont own a cricut and bought some sticker paper but its kind of expensive. Plus, you then need to manually adhere them to the print which could cause other issues.
Which ootion do your etsy buyers seem to like the best? Also, if you dont mind me asking, what percentage are etsy fees for selling things there? I have some ideas for board games, but havent really looked into getting started with an online store. Or is there another place youd advise to look into? Thanks for any info you feel like sharing. Really inspired by your videi topics.

On my Etsy store I sell a few items with vinyl labels and the traffic cones with simple color changes by later heights. You can check it out here if you're interested: asamakesstore.etsy.com
I wouldn't want to use toner transfer for something I sell regularly as there's a lot of adjustments and manual steps needed. With the traffic cones I just print those in bulk using my MMU2s (now MMU3s stay tuned for the MMU2 to MMU3 upgrade video next week!).
Then with the buckets and slippery when wet signs I will do a big batch of applying vinyl stickers from my Circuit every few weeks. I can do 20 or so in an hour (depending on how hard I'm working)
I like Etsy but the fees are fairly high, it's around 10% of each sale just in fees for Etsy. I wish those fees were lower but they develop the platform and the vast majority of my sales come from people browsing or searching on Etsy so it does actually feel fair.
I definitely recommend you give it a try - but it can be very time intensive.

I'm looking forward to the MMU2 vs MMU3 comparison, especially since you are using them for your business. I found the MMU2 fiddly and updated it to the MMU2S which helped slightly. But, the color changes are slow and I ended up having a lot of my filament ends being a little too large to fit back down the tube. I think that was my main complaints about it. I like how the BL X1C does filament changes. It actually cuts the end off, so there is no blob-y end to go back in through the tube. And then it purges out the back. You can set the purge amount. It is wasteful, though. But, its much faster since it's expelling a larger amount out the poop shoot versus into a purge block. It can still have a priming block, so it can pressurize the nozzle for printing. @@AsaMakes

Have you updated to the latest MMU2s firmware? It improved the speed considerably
So far MMU3 upgrade is performing really well, only a few hundred filament changes but 100% reliability and the 1st upgraded unit just worked right away without any tinkering
