Fix a Dyson vacuum with this battery. EASY DIY battery replacement & upgrade hack

Original Prusa Mk3 Enclosure: Unboxing, Assembly, and REVIEW. Is a $500 Prusa-box worth it?
Simple and straightforward
Is this AI?
I'm pretty sure I'm not an AI
Great video ... I'm between rat rig v core 4 and this printer. Do you have any opinion about it?
Thanks! I really don't know anything specific about the rat rig printers - they look like a good product and you'll get lots of learning assembling them. I love my XL, just wish they were cheaper so I could buy a second one!
These adapters are nice. We could even make our own batteries as the only use the + - terminals from the batteries. I have a DC30 14,8volt. Has anyone tried these adapters on DC30? The PCB inside has printed 24v on the battery terminals even though the original battery is 14,8v and i read somewhere that it works fine with the 24v battery. But i would like to know if it works with these 18v adapters.
If you don't have a way to cut polycarbonate, you can also get sheets cut to whatever size you want from e.g. Tap Plastics or Send Cut Send.
I always forget about Send Cut Send, and this is the first Ive heard of Tap Plastics, thanks!
If Bambu releases a tool changer printer, Prusa is going to get slaughtered on this printer. Really insane their enclosure is the best they could come up with after so many years in development… so many air gaps that really make ventilation impossible. Considering how much we know about how dangerous the fumes and particulates might be, they really dropped the ball.
Great video thanks. how long did it take you from start to finish not including the pauses between fixes?
Thanks! It would have taken me around 8 hours I'd say, maybe a bit less.
Are you selling patented items or just niche products? Just curious.
Just niche products that I've designed, all decorative
does anyone know if there are adaptors for the Dyson V12 Slim? can't find anything on google
I'm curious if you are going to update this video since there is an enclosure now? Are you thinking of getting it?
I designed and built my own before Prusa released theirs, I made a video about it th-cam.com/video/APIIjJ4wXD0/w-d-xo.html Thanks for watching!
@@AsaMakes Yeah. I ended up seeing after I wrote this comment. Good videos, man. Thank you.
Thanks so much for watching!
No way in hell I would buy a enclosure for that money, Prusa had became an extremely greedy company....☹️
Prusa is privately held so estimating their financials would be guesswork at best - but I don't think it's greed. They just don't prioritize low costs for the consumer - they manufacture in the EU (and now in the US), since COVID they do a lot of manufacturing work in house instead of relying on partners and suppliers, and they offer quite good support which I've used. Is this enclosure too expensive? Yes it definitely is - but not because of greed in my opinion). Thanks for watching!
@@AsaMakes hello good content you make there don't get me wrong 👋,myself I own a mk3s back in the day for a marlin based printer was a bulletproof reliable go to printer but marketing wise there going down a not so consumer friendly open source road asking 4000_5000 euro/dolar for a xl printer ,seriously ,??? You can go a long way for that asking price you can buy a good reliable ratrig printer and Cnc for that money, btw I build myself two klipper based diy printers, still not in that price range that they market there products.
You could get an enclosed printer for $500. A box shouldn't be more than $100, $200 if it comes with wires to move the psu and mainboard for better thermals.
This is legitimately a superior enclosure to Prusa's own you should work for Prusa and design their products 🤣.
Thank you! A few weeks in I'm still quite pleased with it
You didn’t mention how much longer the Dyson lasts now?
With the 5amp-hour DeWalt battery mine lasts 20 or so minutes, and when it runs out I just swap to my 2nd battery
Thanks for the shoutout on printables!
Thanks for sharing your XL model! Saved me quite some effort
@@AsaMakes oh boy, am i going to release a bomb in the next 2 weeks on printables. Working on an upgrade for the xl for 3 weeks now ;-)
@@surfalex2000 cool! I'll be looking out for it
Great Projekt! Do you have a rough count of how much you paid for this case in total? (only build material without tool cost)
Thanks! It was about $600 though like I said I could have saved $100 or more by buying cheaper polycarbonate and aluminum
my MMU1 was amazing, but my MMU2 I never got working properly no matter how much i tried. Not bothering with a MMU3.
Actually the MMU2 had three issues: The 5V-issue, the mechanical stability and the filament tip on unload (the special heatbreak does not result in much improved filament tip without a lot of tuning the ramping profile). The MMU3 fixes the first two issues. The third one can be solved on the mk3s+ by using a Revo Six instead of the original hotend. The integrated Nozzle/Heatbreak combo leaves a much nicer filament tip on unload. Trianglelabs Unified Nozzle might do the trick also, for a much more reasonable price. However, on the mk4 the Nextruder nozzle is even better than the Revo. Practicly no tuning of Ramping Profiles needed. But with the MK4s you need to "downgrade" to a standard flow nozzle. If you already have a MMU2, you should do the upgrade. The two mechanical/electrical parts (the metal drum holder and the smal PCB) you can get for a fraction of the upgrade price on AliExpress. And a TUN hotend is about 25€ (if you have an mk3s).
Now I need to find adapter for Milwaukee xD
They make those too. Good luck!
this was great! Thank you for sharing the hardware links and the 3D print model! <3
Thanks for watching! Let me know if you make your own or build off the design for something better
These are awsome. Thank you for the stl. I appreciate it.
These are awesome. Thank you for the stl. I appreciate it.
Please respond ..I don't have or know anything about power tools. How long do thee dewalt batteries last? What charges do you recommend?
I've been using the same two 5ah DeWalt batteries since before I made this video, and I really use the heck out of the vacuum cleaner. So for me it has been a great investment. The run time is around 20 minutes
Great video, of what I watched... awful music. couldnt deal with it sorry had to skip those bits.
Thanks for watching! Do you have any good royalty free music to recommend? The TH-cam supplied tracks don't have a lot of selection
Dewalt themselves make an adapter for the old 18v tools so you can run the 20v batteries too
Yes I have one of these (a proper DeWalt brand one) The only issue is I've noticed some kind of parasitic power draw when I use my 20v battery on my 18v DeWalt drill - it will drain the batter if I leave it connected. Not sure if it's an issue with my drill or my adapter. Easy fix - I just don't leave the battery connected. Thanks for watching and for your comment!
id rather buy bambuu but very good video👍
It's so bulky!!!
I have Mk4 in prusa lack table enclosure (that was for mmu2s). Now I'm building the MMU3 and priting new buffer holders and spool holders to fit the lack enclosure. I hope for the best, thanks for the video
Good luck! My two MMU3s are still working great
Great video! Thanks for sharing! Couple questions. How do you record your audio while recording video? Or do you re-record later? It’s just feels like your mic is super close to your mouth and I don’t see one in the video. What and where did you get the motor? I’m looking to build a similar thing to paint gas cylinders that would be roughly your weight and it seems like that motor would do the trick. And not to be the internet a******, but you clearly do great work and just wanted to pass along two tools that may help a fellow builder. Step bits, drill bits that would do what you did here with your switch hole. And zip tie cutters to cleanly cut zip ties. Stanley makes an affordable set, and Ty-Rap makes a really nice set that is…well we use them in the defense industry, so that should tell you how much they cost. Thanks again for that great video and a really nice build!
Ok, someone who actually puts links in the description of their videos! So you already answered one of my questions! I guess I am THAT guy.
Guess it'll be in stock in about a week or so, but if someone is particularly impatient until then: I ordered one without the printed parts and even though it showed two weeks lead time, it shipped the same day.
When you do enclosure notify me 😀
I will! Parts are all designed, just need to find time to assemble, test, film, and edit
Pre-ordered one on the first hour the pre-order opened up, but never pulled the trigger, once it was available. Sounds like it might be safe to go back into the water now.
What would be really cool is if you could specify a model for the waster tower. Those waste towers you had in your video would make pretty good traffic cones, themselves. Imagine having some model that you could print, where you don't care about the colors or the colors you are using for your main model work fine for the "waste model".
" build an enclosure " .. Then be prepared with replacement toolhead parts printed in ABS /ASA... that PETG they use will not last long in a hot chamber.
I want this but for my Dreame V9 but can't find one 😢
Since posting the lead time is listed at 6 weeks for the XL, which is quite an improvement in the last quarter
I already purchased the MMU3 upgrade, just watching for fun. Prusa lead times have been pretty good for me (in the US), I received the kit about a week after ordering. I agree on the spool holders, they're not great. What really sucks about them is that if your spools have any defects on the edge, they won't work. Most spools have slots along the edge to stick the filament in for storage. I have several spools where those slots were dented in during shipping. Catastrophic failure when trying to use them.
Thanks for watching!!
For the spool holders, maybe you could fashion something heavy to insert into the center of the spool, to hold it down when it runs low on filament.
Sir: HOW did you come up with those sheep files, such that some parts come out white, but other parts come out black? What wizardry is THAT?
Oh I didn't make these they're one of the common MMU multi color test prints on Printables.com That being said in Prusa Slicer you can use a paint tool to assign different colors to your print. I've used this for my MMU3 quite a bit and it works well and is intuitive Thanks for watching!
You printed 12 multicolored sheep, one by one? That's what I call wasteful.
Yep, not the best stress test but definitely easy I give them away as little Etsy freebies
Nice Vid.
Thanks for watching!
Nice. How heavy did it end up being? (I probably would have made the logo from a 2d print and made it bigger using an overhead projector.)
Clever! I definitely will get a small projector for my next drawing related project - I'm not particularly good as freehand It ended up being 70 or 80lbs I'd say, I didn't weigh it but it was heavy, and also sturdy - we had dozens of kids and adults take photos and it held up really well. Thanks for watching!
Nice video m8... but if I may to ask a question - can you measure how far apart are the XL legs? Random question to most of the people, but quite useful to me :D
Sure thing, I'll do it this evening
Great review thanks!
Why would someone buy a crappy SUPER wasteful Bambu with an AMS when this can do 5 colors with no waste?
And thanks for watching!
Well you can buy an X1C +AMS combo and have it in a few days instead of waiting 6 months to a year for an XL multi head or waiting for the Mk4 version of MMU3 to ship (few weeks or months?). So if you need something today I fully understand the Bambu approach. If I saw a deeply discounted X1C + AMS combo on the used market I would probably buy it for testing. But for now I vastly prefer to simplify my workflow and stock with Prusa Mk3s/Mk4/XL. I want to reduce, as much as possible, the different types of printers and configurations
@@AsaMakes It took 3 weeks for my Bambu printer to come. And at half the price, the mmu i can wait a little for
Oh wow I'm surprised it took that long. Last I was looking they had stock at Microcenter which fortunately I live close enough to
@@AsaMakes Yeah theres a Mcirocenter in my state but its 4.5hr drive. So i just waited. 9hrs round trip for a printer , huh uh lol
2:33 The z-motor modules should be labeled or colored: left and right. I made the same mistake. So I unscrewed and swaped the arms (the motors are really the same).
Yeah different colors at a minimum - glad you caught it before breaking something like me!
How thick are the shelving boards? Looks thicker than 1" but not as thick as 2". 5/4ths?
From memory I think they're 1" by 5" pine boards, I'll check this evening
@@AsaMakes looks great, nice work!
Great video. Like how you started your review with the package drop test. Though unplanned, it does give me a bit of comfort when mine will be sent through the rigorous test of mishandling by shipping carriers. Thanks for sharing your mistakes so I don't have to repeat it... hopefully :)
Thanks for watching! And yes... lol.. I would expect normal shipping handling will be just fine
I’m sorry…. Linear rail for 200? That’s some serious prusa tax 😂
I rounded up - looks like Prusa charges appropriately. Example SRS12-310LM(GK) THK linear bearing from MiSUMi is $137 before tax and shipping. This isn't the exact part but should be close From Prusa the part was $150 and shipping was another 20ish
And no sales tax / import tax from Prusa to my location at least
Awesome video! I just subscribed and looking forward to see a real youtube plaque in 2 months! Good luck!
