    The boutiques are so underrated. I love the ju-06a! It’s really just immediate and fun. People are saying the korg minilogue is superior per $. I respectfully disagree. when it comes to actual practice, the juno tends to work in a mix better.

      JU-06a uses the superior ACB modelling...the newer boutiques use ABM which is inferior but gives you more voices. If Roland stacked two ACB boards in a boutique, that would be a game changer.

    • @therealmber

      One of the common criticisms I've seen in text reviews is the lack of a proper manual in the box. Understandable in an age when lots of people RTFTH-cam exclusively, but it'd be nice if they at least offered (a complete one) for download or *shock* in hardcopy... might make sense for something that can run off batteries and play through an onboard speaker to not require a connected smart device for documentation, eh Roland?
      It sounds like many functions are completely undocumented for the consumer, with occasional references to "calls to tech support" to clear up their use. Not so great for a long term future of these (allegedly) limited edition synths.

    • @DAMAGR
      @DAMAGR ปีที่แล้ว

      @@therealmber For sure. The Roland Boutique manuals are not formatted all that great, are overly verbose, and leave some things out. I think it's because the manual has to cover so many languages. They're so big and it's so hard to find the one thing you need is low-key the reason I created the Blank Patch Sheets notebook series. Not all of the notebooks have an easier to read quick reference guide, but the Roland Boutiques do. Hoping one day I can add that type of thing to all the notebooks but it's not a fast or easy process :(.

    • @talaniel
      @talaniel 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@therealmberIDK, went through the JU-06A manual recently and it contained almost all the info with just a few pieces missing - maybe the authors considered them a common sense, but this is my first synth, so it was not a common sense for me :-) But it is mainly like "what gate means?", "is the ext clock jack mono or stereo?"
      Actually - if there are undocumented functions, I would not know about them even after reading the manual :-) I wonder what those undocumented features are :-)

    • @therealmber
      @therealmber 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@talanielI can't remember now which, but at the time (I never ended up buying one, just did a lot of pre-purchase research online) there were a few youtube videos with a "and here's a trick Roland Tech Support told me isn't in the manual..." bits. Have a look. Also possible that manuals online from Roland got updated since those videos etc.

    I love this thing, but one issue i have with the arpeggiator is that when i change chords, i sometimes get a double note on the first note. I get around this by sequencing my chords in midi in logic and sending it to the ju-06a so its perfect. I'm just not sure if my manual experience is me being a bad keyboard player (i have 0 training) or if that's just a nuance of synth arpeggios in general.

    Hey I have a question about the arpeggiator. When I play a chord with the arp on, it plays the chord first and then goes into the note by note sequence. For instance, if I play a C chord, it will play the chord first and then play C, E, and G. Do you know how to fix this?

    Hello.
    Really helpful video. Thank you.
    I got a newbie question. My JU06a is plugged to my mx1 via the powered usb channel, but the volume of the JU06a just turns up the built in speakers and not the level coming through my mixer. So I have the volume turned right down. It comes through the mixer fine, but I just can’t use the volume on the synth as if I turn it up, it just comes through the onboard speakers.
    Why is that?
    I don’t think it’s connected wrong as it comes through the mx1 and my monitors fine. Just annoying as it’s a bit to loud with the fader up on the mixer compared to the tr8 and tb3 that I can control with their respective volumes.
    Really hope yourself or someone in the comments can explain what/how I’m doing wrong?
    Cheers. x

    • @LiamKillen
      @LiamKillen  ปีที่แล้ว

      Try connecting into phone out vs output out. If that doesn’t solve it I’m not sure what the issue is but you can use the vca fader on the ju 06a to control gain as well- that’s what I would suggest.

    • @h-dawg969
      @h-dawg969 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@LiamKillen that’s for the quick response.
      It’s all USB, as sync, midi (start/stop) audio all goes through one of 4 usb channels specifically for Aira & Boutique gear, and I have it through the powered usb channel, so there’s no other leads involved.
      It’s just weird as it comes through fine, just that the volume is internal. I’ll try setting it up/plugging it in differently.
      I think I’ll just have to turn up the tr8 & tb3 to match the JU06a, then turn down the master. It’s a bit odd though.
      Cheers x

      @@GT.BuggerIf the piano outputs MIDI messages for pressed and released key (note) then it will work.

      @@LiamKillen I have a number of synths, vintage JUNO-106, Korg DW-8000, Poly-800, a Roland Gaia, and a Deepmind-6 Keyboard, and Deepmind-12 desktop box. I also have a Prophet-08, Blofeld and more. Here is my comment on the Boutiques, Korg Volca and other small box synths. There is a world of difference between playing synth on a keyboard (37 key, 61 key, or full 88 key versus the mini key 25 or less models. You actually can put yourself into that special state of mind where you feel yourself in the trance state of music with a large pressure velocity sensitive keyboard. I have most of the boutiques, JU-06a, JU-06, SH-01, JP-08,TR-08, and while I appreciate their sound quality, Roland should have insisted on a minimum 37 key keyboard- of a quality at least as good as the rebooted Yamaha DX, YC, CP and CS.

      Yeah! You can buy a keyboard for any of the boutique synth- from Roland I believe.

    It's a shame that it doesn't have a power supply jack. Batteries? Seriously? Makes it look like a toy. 😶

      it's the low end of the JU-06a when i switch to chord stabs- i had to turn that volume down at some point because yeah there was some crackling.

      Ah i know what it is...I add sound FX to my videos and sometimes I throw in a vinyl crackling in visual transitions. That's exactly what that is.
