Hi Andrew. I've just got the savage sword super special #2 (1977 revenge of the barbarian) It's the original earl norem cover to the one you're looking at here. It's in colour too which I thought I wouldn't like...but the coloured inks by Marie Severin are fantastic. In fact the whole mag is a thing of beauty.

Haven't got a copy but just checked the cover out and some of the pages from thumbnails, yes, looks good but definitely odd seeing it in that magazine in colour, love Marie Severin's work. Clearly they must have some of the covers without all the type / banners, I would have been great to have seen those as well.

@@AndrewBuckleBookReviews Yeh. I kind of wish they'd have done a few more in colour now, if it'd been up to this standard. On better quality paper too (Baxter paper?)

Always thought Tim Conrad's Worms of the Earth in Savage sword 16 and 17 (?) was spectacular. A real work of art featuring Bran Mac morn, who was underused I thought.

I agree, Bran Mak Morn should have been used a lot more - 11 in total in the GCD and 5 stories and a poem and a few fragments from REH. Don't think he will be getting an omnibus any time soon sadly. I hope they bring out a collection of the REH other works (obvious Red Sonja is still not going to be available for a while). Apparently a film is in the offing (2012), now that maybe help with some new stories / adaptions etc

@@AndrewBuckleBookReviews Never cared for Red Sonja but enjoyed all his other creations. I thought the short lived Kull and the barbarians was great...at least the first 2 issues, then just fizzled out with the last one. Shame.

@@ottohoulihan2743 Red Sonja is hardly RE Howard character though, more Roy Thomas (Dark Agnes did at least have a few stories) one. Kull and the Barbarians 1 - 3 ... I agree, was way too short a series and featured good old Solomon Kane as well (and could have featured many more characters if given a chance). I've always been a fan of those old B&W mags, I doubt if they will ever start those up again

Tim Conrad is a better artist than Barry Smith.
