Just received my copy as well. I agree that the more limited "touch-up" restoration perhaps works better for this series. Looking forward to the Al Williamson book, although it's rather pricey. I'm assuming it'll be a much higher page count than the Maneely.
I think the book is a lot bigger and more pages, it should be amazing but I agree, at the moment the price is a little too steep. Hopefully will come down closer to the release or shortly after ?? same as the omnis that start at about £105 and get quickly to a more reasonable £55 or so. Love the limited touchup, still would love to have seen all the Marvels and DCs done that way but sadly that will never happen. At least people could then decide whether or not they prefer the glossy ones. I love the Taschen series for that but I wish they had just gone for the proper sized comics instead of the over the top size and a book that nearly falls through the floor
The supplier may send you the replacement if you told them about it. There is a possibility they may ask to arrange for the damaged one to be picked up, or just ask for photos of the damage, or ask you to send the title page back. However, I expect you know all of this.
Yes, I don't think I am going to send it back to the States for the slightly annoying damage. I wish Amazon (as I imagine millions of others do) would just package them better. Having packages back and forth is often a hassle just based here in the UK let alone transatlantic
Fantastic review. Excellent publisher.
thank you, yes, love a lot of the books from Fantagraphics
One thing I glad you have some old classic 👍
Hopefully a few !
I ordered a copy of this book mainly for the Joe Maneely artwork and Michael Vasallo's introduction. Thank you, Fantagraphics!
Yes, the Joe Maneely are the best parts of this book along with the excellent intro from Michael Vasallo.
Fantastic Coverage as usual Andrew, I'll likely be picking this up.
thank you, glad the Atlas book proved of interest.
I got this book recently from Scifier in the UK. Their packing is second to none, you'll never have a problem!
Others have mentioned them as well, will have to check them out
