"Apply the material to a group." Just wasted 1 hour of my life trying to figure out why the displacement isn't working. I've been applying the material inside a group and not to a group the whole time. CRAZY. Thank you Justin!!!
@@Thesketchupessentials ... same aswell, but the question is how to adjust the position or etc of the material which is applied outside of the group? Any idea?
Hey again, i think i've figured out. First apply the material outside of the group just as Justin did, then right click on the group, go to option V-ray UV tools, then choose which option you prefer. Then you can get in the group to adjust the texture like we do all the time with texture option.
Justin yours vedios are really big help.......you have proved to be a best tutor.well can just help us more with the configuration of your system...to get such renders without being crashed........I'll be highly thankful to you buddy.
Cool! These maps make a BIG difference in your render quality. Make sure to check out these two videos as well - they talk a bit more about using maps in your renderings - th-cam.com/video/Ads4DV7eKiI/w-d-xo.html , th-cam.com/video/GPMATGrunrE/w-d-xo.html - Thanks!
Nice video Justin keep it up! Here are a few extra things worth sharing - The displacement units normally equal sketchup modelling units (inches/mm/cm) - You can fix the jagged displacement by adding more filter blur to the displacement map or cranking up the edge length (higher numbers means smoother geometry and faster renders / lower numbers means more geometry so slower renders - 15 works well most cases) - if your normal map makes your diffuse look darker or off coloured - change the colour space of the map from 'Sceen Space sRGB" to "Render Space linear" and put bump type to "normal - tangent" option
@@Thesketchupessentials Thanks, i'm a junior architect atm, but I've been teaching myself V-Ray and visualisation since I started studying. Archviz is a hobby now and I sometimes upload Vray models to 3D warehouse for fun.
Hello there. Great job, keep going. I have a question for you. You actually put bitmap file (3 bit map & 1 jpg) , but i can't undrestand where do you find them?! I mean, do you actually install them, or do you create them? Thank you for your time.
Thank you for your videos! You seem to have a video for every question I have. I need to create a render with a very specific tile and need to create a map like this with a jpeg of the material. Unfortunately Materialize doesn't work on a Mac. Any suggestions on how to do this?
need a little help, my sketchup file is stuck at building light cache (0 % not moving beyond that )while rendering using vray, please let me know what could be the probable reason and is you can help me with that

Curious but I am using an older sketchup and vray 2016 I believe. Is there a way to convert the displacement to a mesh? I am getting some really cool abstract effects in the renders but I want to take the sketchup vray displacement result over to a 3d animation program. Any suggestions? Thanks!
@@Thesketchupessentials thnx for the reply, i do download lol.. sometimes i just get lost in all the parameters in vray. Thought the materials that came with vray already, dont need the maps to be downloaded..like, just change the parameter here a bit there and, voila you got the image xD
TheSketchUpEssentials you are not showing us the final full image with the generated texture. For example the shadow in the inner part of the “pool” is grained/pixelated

Hello for what textures Weill add maps .can we add map for every textures we applied in projects like fabrics, tiles, wood etc... May I know please
thank you
thank you very much
whats the name of app or site that export maps ?
This is great! Can you do Quixel Mixer too? Its a free beta and it does the same thing but more advamced.
I'll give it a look - I haven't done anything with Mixer, but would like to learn more about Quixel's stuff anyway - thanks!

I can't thank you enough man.....
Would this work even if I’m using rhino? Is the bray interface the same? I’m trying to make a coral pattern.
No clue - this is a SketchUp channel...I assume so though - most programs use image files for textures
@@Thesketchupessentials I see, I didnt find a detailed video lied your for rhino. That's why I asked. thank you

Not 100% sure on this one
That's great but what about procedural texturing of a floor and such I can't set the overlap decently.
Maybe try Mixer? th-cam.com/video/Zglx7KpnltA/w-d-xo.html
You rule!
Thanks!
Do I have to create a map image for every texture (if so, how?) or where can I find those?
Depends on what you're trying to do really. You don't have to, but the maps do make the images more realistic
What would happen if you save the files as JPG instead of BMP in material? Severe loss of quality?
I don't think so - I'm not aware of a gigantic loss in quality between those two formats, but I'm not sure
@@Thesketchupessentials Generally they are but takes a lot of space. But I'm not sure how it affects rendering.
How to create bump material in photoshop bule colour type ?
Personally I'd use Materialize - th-cam.com/video/IkswklU6PM8/w-d-xo.html
So,basically there is no way to make them look more realistic without downloading the maps( bump, displacement etc) ?
Why WOULDN'T you want to download the maps? Those are what tell the program HOW to render the material...

what is your graphic card ? i need to know how quick is vray when render through GC .

Justin thank yoy bro
Thanks!
Hi! I make be like you but pebble not floating in blocks, pls help me, thanks and best regard!!!
SIR, WHAT IS YOUR SYSTEM SPECIFICATION... THANK YOU SIR
I can’t determine which is the final rendered image
I don't understand what you're getting at...
TheSketchUpEssentials you are not showing us the final full image with the generated texture. For example the shadow in the inner part of the “pool” is grained/pixelated
Save your texture as a JPEG and not a BMP that will make the file size smaller.
Will have to give this a try - thanks for the tip!
hello, what's your GPU?
GTX1080ti
@@Thesketchupessentials good one
mine rocks dont pump up the texture :/
you should list in the details the videos you mention in your video, its easier for us to find and for you to increase views.
the shadow on the stones seems unrealistic
Interesting...maybe it's a scale issue? It's still a lot more realistic than just not using a map...
Does this guy not blink?
thank you very much
