- Tourism is down by up to 95% in some regions of Mindanao Philippines due to a war that broke out in the city of Marawi. People should avoid that area (Marawi) at all cost but at the same time should not be afraid to travel North/North East part of Mindanao (to my knowledge). Al though it's considered safe in those areas you will encounter high level of army presence where ever you go.

Hey Finn :)... Just a heads up that Mindanao isn't a "Region"... it is a massive island (2nd Largest in the Philippines). Mindanao actually has 6 Regions with 27 Provinces bro :)... Just would hope you are up for changing the name of your video. Sorry to bring that up, but I just advocate for positive education about this part of the Philippines which is very commonly discriminated against, and stereotyped.
The actual "War Zone part" is a small area in a Province called Lanao Del Sur, specifically Marawi. Just so anyone who reads this post on your comments is informed. The area is VERY SMALL compared to the size of Mindanao.

As a Chinese that went there to visit Philippines for the very 1st time. I have to say I am amazed that they are so kind and polite. From rich to middle class to even poor people. Everyone is so nice and so kind and always smiling. Very different from Usa... If you give all people that lives in poverty from Philippines, I guarantee you that 90%+ will all become doctors

These videos will never be featured in the international commercial media because it's raw. Look at that, soldiers are talking with the locals like a normal human being. They'd even smile. They're just doing their job. It's heartbreaking that they are demonized so much along with Mindanao. The good doesn't outweigh the bad. Sa kapwa ko pilipino sa Mindanao, iisa lang ang lahi natin. Taga Luzon ako at MAHAL NA MAHAL KO KAYO!

yung mga kontra sa martial law sila ang nag demonize sa military. for mindanao it is the terrorist groups and extremists who are giving mindanao a bad reputation. if you are on the positive vibes there are lots of videos here showing true heroism in marawi, people helping other people regardless of religious beliefs.

I was born in Panay Island but I worked and lived in Mindanao (Iligan City) for over a decade. I consider Mindanao my second home. I am now a US citizen and I am highly considering retiring in Mindanao. It's lovely place, full of diversity and mind you has a lot of safe places to visit. Finn, if ever you come back to the Philippines, visit Camiguin Island. I am sure Kyle Jennerman will agree with me that Camiguin is the safest if not one of the safest in the whole of Mindanao or of the whole country. Fair winds on all of your journeys.

I felt like i'm 5 mos. late in subscribing to your channel Finn. :) It all started while searching for charity activities and was able to watch that one vid with your plan to build a school on Cebu and now up until tonight i'm trying to catch up on all the vids you posted. You had very raw and natural feels in all the videos which I really love (as well as not being an extravagant traveler). Also, the best part is that you're promoting tourism in my country, which provides jobs for the locals and we are grateful for it.

I admire your tenacity and persistence Finn nothing will stop you from going to this place even if there was a martial law going on and you witness firsthand what was really the situation in that area and you showed on the video that it's not really dangerous to travel to this place the militaries were doing a good job of keeping the people safe and secure, people were not affected they continue going on with their normal lives and it was good to know that you didn't hesitate to come or else you wouldn't experience the beautiful spots the island has to offer. positive vibes always Finn!

Finn dont worry, most of Mindanao is safe specially now with the Martial Law in place. I was just in Philippines, stayed in my home town Davao City for couple months and I get to travel the south part of Mindanao in Saranggani Province, lots of places to go! if you have the time, then def visit Glan beaches and White Water Tubing in NLU Maitum, Saranggani! Enjoy! :)
