- Ran for my life to catch the boat to Limasawa island. From there was about 30 minute boat ride to the long thin shaped island. Met a local and decided to hike the mountain. There he searched for the most fresh coconut.. We found the most fresh/sweet that I've ever had.. Or perhaps I was just so thirsty that it tasted better. But it was the best one I've ever had. Later on explored the cliff jumping area, once again made friends with the locals and spent the rest of the day there.

Nice view of full green forest... 👍👍👍 amazing how the man opens the coconuts with just his bare hands.. he is STRONG 💪😅
After you smash it hard in the rocks, the coconut will basically break open and you will need to just separate it in half with a little more force. That's how it's mostly done in some areas in Leyte and Samar. Trust me, that's how my friends and I used to do it back in Eastern Samar when we were kids. Gosh how time flies.

This Island was where Ferdinand Magellan first landed in the Philippines in 1521. Back then, no Ph yet just group of Islands ruled by Datus and Rajas. Antonio Pigaffeta wrote in his journal, Magellan"s historian, that the locals were very friendly and welcoming. They provided supplies for the new comers. Back when the world was busy grabbing territories after territories, being friendly and welcoming was our downfall.

I think it's in Homonhon Island Samar where Ferdinand Magellan and his crew first set foot on Philippine soil. Limasawa however is where the first Mass took place.

I remember 30 yrs ago im on my early 20s the mining company i worked with sent me here to get some soil samples to test for possible mining exploration to be made in this island. The locals are very friendly.

Limasawa Island of Southern Leyte is a place of historical and religious significance in the Philippines being the site of the "First Christian Mass" in the Philippines and in Asia. That first Christian mass was celebrated on Easter Sunday of March 31, 1521 by Father Pedro de Valderrama under the fleet of explorer Ferdinand Magellan. The First Cross and the First Mass Shrine are some of the most visited spots in the island. Limasawa Island paved the way for the beginning of Christianity in the Philippines. Another great find Finn, I wonder though if you have any idea about all of these, haha!:-)
