- Original plan was to visit the Sohoton cove but unfortunately it was too expensive for me to go alone. Instead I got to meat 3 families and enjoy the culture and happyness of people from this small island.

Fixing the tire hole. It's called vulcanizing. probably in iceland you would just discard the whole thing and replace it with a new one :) /anyway Im glad you had that chance to experience that unique culture of ours.
vulcanizing has been around in the philippines forever, hahaa! i'm surprised they're still fixing tire holes that way! :-)

Town fiesta. Good food, good vibes, good fun all the way around! It is actually celebrated in honor of a town saint. I can't help but reminisce the good old days. We used to be invited by close friends to eat at their homes. We would visit 3-4 houses during the day. They actually would be mad if you don't come and snub them because they'd prepared the food especially just for visitors like us. So it was tough because you get so full but it was hard to say no to them. Yup, Filipino hospitality. What an awesome tradition and it's good to know it is still practice even today. Another good one Mr. Finn. Thank you.

not all will mind but when you are eating of course you have to remove your hat. yes there's a lot food during fiesta. Filipino families always save money just to spend it during fiesta because it is like thanking God for all the blessings and more to come. to have a visitor especially a foreigner in their home is so special to them to share what they have to show off Filipino foods. thank you for touring our country Philippines

if I was around I would show him the basin with water and tell him it would be nice to wash your hands first heheheh and try to secure a table knife and fork for him being a foreigner he is not used to spoon which we all Filipinos are using
Yep.....when I first visited , I had the guidance of my fiancé about some very subtle cultural things, especially of the elders AND some security things....example no pda (public display of affection, don't flash cash or wealth,, buy some Philippine clothing products, (very cheap and high quality) Many of the eateries we went to had a wash area,totally separate from the comfort room. OH...a biggie carry tp in your backpack. :-)oh...and always be nice to the little kids. Go out of your way to be nice to the little kids and resist the urge to pat them on the head as in western countries!
if theres a KULAS in Mindanao.... Theres FINNSNOW in VISAYAS... both seeing the POSITIVE SIDE PHILIPPINES WHICH RESIDE IN PROVINCES..

The people you see in a line, playing music, and the Catholic statue is called a procession. Each barangay has their own patron saint and they honor them by carrying the statue and praying. Thats the religious side of a fiesta but the party side has food, games, music, and fun

I travelled for 11 weeks in Philippines. Lived on small cheap room i asked local for. Love the country with it's beautiful nature. But most of all i love the people in Philippines. So nice, friendly and hospitallity. I will go back next year :)

I like your pioneering and culture immersion spirit Finn esp. your proposition " If nobody goes you go." little by little you now know that Pinoy's culture is a hybrid form from European influence e.g. Spain 300 plus years of colonization like the Catholic church inspired fiesta, lechon, including our names etc , from north american influence, U.S.A. that replaced Spain as the new colonizer e.g. pop culture- hollywood movies and songs and the influence of its neighboring countries..e.g. Indonesia, Malaysia and the territorial grabber nowadays China...etc. Just enjoy your adventures with the locals and have fun flying your LIT drone and you will have a boom in subscribers in no time...! theyre patching the hole with another rubber... they heat the patch rubber thats covering the hole so it would stick and be same thickness with the tire interior.

that's town Fiesta Finn. all households cook food to celebrate the patron saint. relatives, distant relatives, friends, co-workers from other towns come by the house to celebrate with the family. neighbors exchange food as well. so better ready your stomach and get ready for "house-hopping." :)
When u talk about filipino hospitality,i remember my father in the province,he always take strangers at home feed them and even take care of them if they get sick ,one time the stranger at home got sick we dont have money to buy medicine so my father had to do some herbal medicine made from medicinal plants,yeah filipino thing...

During our time, it was a practice in the barrio, celebrating a fiesta, to borrow the visitors of their neighbor to eat in their house too. After eating the visitor goes home with lots of "paba-on" (gifts in the form of local delicacies). So in a sense, the visitor will be house-hopping to eat.
Not all foreigers immerse themselves to the culture and traditions especially on remote rural areas, you are very lucky to do so, and im sure you enjoyed the experienceand fall in love more to the filipino people
