First off, loved seeing Grommets get in the top nine! Glad you enjoyed it! I'm a big crime guy, so I would recommend my personal favorite comic of all time, David Lapham's Stray Bullets. It's noir/neo noir at its finest. Suspenseful, emotional, non-linear, and heavily character driven. All in luscious black and white. A perfect comic in every way. It's an especially solid gateway for folks who avoid comics, because capes n cowls aren't their thing. Finally, you touched on Precious Metal coming out this week. If you haven't, you MUST go back and read a series called Little Bird. PM is a prequel to LB, about four or five years in the making. LB was my favorite comic of whatever year it was coming out. Highly, highly recommend it. Thanks for these vids and continuing to spread the comics positivity on an Internet landscape that's full of negative bullshit!
Great to see this show come out this early in the week so folks can get to the shops on release day. Personally, I read mostly Marvel because I've several decades deep into investing in continuity, but I love how DC can do miniseries that don't require much, if any, knowledge of their universe. I really loved the sci-fi/hero vibe of Far Sector. Thanks for recommending it so much that I ended up reading it as a collection.
Cheaaa the precise goal! Ideally this will come out Tuesdays once I get my editing speed up but I pre filmed most of this on Sunday so I could ride the venom wave and try to get people into some COMICS! (And love that you dug Far Sector so much!)
Great video!! For X-Men, I’d recommend House of X/Power of X. At the core it is just Professor X and Moria Vs Orichis. The extra information that you may not know, is explained in the info pages (the factions that built Orchis, what are “chimeras” etc). While there are different timelines, the information pages displays each one. For me personally I’d recommend House of X/Power of X. If liked, you can forward, if interested in X-Men, you could go back to the beginning. If good enough you can keep the one book and it wouldn’t be a “To be Continued” (House of X/Power of X are in one book instead of having to buy them separately)
@@CoyJandreau for me, a good comic book for beginners would be figuring out what the like (The Flash Show = Flash Comics, Arrow TV Series = Green Arrow, Spider-Man = Amazing Spider-Man or Miles Morales, the Lilo & Stich Show = Comic adaption) once that is figured out you could narrow down the comic search.
Off topic…rewatching X-men animated series clip and saw Ice-Man against X-Factor got me thinking if they could bring back Spider-Man and his Amazing Friends!!!
1 - My brother is flying cross country to visit in a few weeks and I just sent him Criminal: Volume 1 for him to read on the plane from your recommendation. 2 - I think comics that I’d recommend to a first-time newbie would probably be Invincible, Saga, or Y: The Last Man depending on their tastes. And a personal favorite of mine will always be the Young Avengers Omnibus by Heinberg and Cheung.

Venom Stallion looked so incredible. They are going all out with everything. This feels like 90s Venom from Spiderman: TAS voiced by Hank Azaria and the storyline with Dormammu and Baron Mordo was so good with the mixing of magic blending with science.
I finally got to go to a comic shop this week. I brought issue 4 of Ultimate Spider-Man, the only issue they had left, Shadow Of The Green Goblin issue 2 and I also brought Superman Red and Blue. Really loved the experience and wish I had one locally. As for what I’m going to be reading for the next few weeks (I’m a slow reader), Supergirl Woman Of Tomorrow (SO SO GOOD so far) and I’ll be reading Superman Red and Blue

Just been to our independent comic store (Plan 9, Aberdeen Scotland) and got the new reprint of the Uncanny Xmen 130 with the debut of Dazzler foil cover, an X Force from 91, an Xmen from 84 and my Son got a few new comics. I couldn't afford comics as a kid, would occasionally get a 200AD when my Mum had money so I've been collecting old ones. Mainly picking random ones I like the cover art of. I love seeing the really old ads inside!

Ultimate Spider-Man is a good one Frank Miller's Daredevil Batman Year One/Killing Joke/Long Halloween Kevin Smith's Green Arrow Saga wasn't my vibe personally (VERY good just not for me) but I have started at least 4 or 5 people on that one who wanted to try comics but weren't interested in capes

Great video from Coy as he always kills it. My favorite read right now is the new Ultimate X-Men series! It wasn’t anything I expected but everything I loved. So far it’s about even with Ultimate Spider-man as 2 of my favorite books ( and I am usually partial to DC). Keep up the great work Coy!
I’ll go with All-Star Superman as my rec. Admittedly, I haven’t read it since I was a kid, but I remember it being a good self-contained Superman story that kept the essence of the character without dealing with the decades of continuity. Also, one that I read in high school that doesn’t get talked about much is Ex Machina. I thought that was really interesting. As an unaffiliated voter, I like how it dealt with real-world politics without leaning too far to one side (IIRC, the main character was an Independent).
Comment more for the algorithm. Trailer looked fine. I enjoyed the first two, but acknowledge they aren't great. The only thing in this trailer that bothers me is Danny and the bar. Maybe it will be explained. But something tells me Sony is completely destroying continuity and will make no sense. But the symbiote horse looked dope.
Superman Secret Identity is one I would highly recommend to new comic readers. It's a take on Superman that is different from the main comics but really captures the spirit of his character and is a very human story that you can enjoy whether you're a superhero fan or not. Plus it's a stand-alone miniseries, so it's a quick read and you don't need to know any continuity going in.
Maybe I need to read some Venom comics b/c I've never understood the appeal of these Tom Hardy Venom flicks. No hate, to the fans who've enjoyed these movies 🙏. As a medium the storytelling in the comics have always been on another level, I just wish it translated on the screen. Any suggestions/ Venom- Brock comics I can read for this series? Maybe it'll help me understand some of the choices Hardy makes in portraying Eddie. As for the casting of Ejiofor, if this were a multiple test question, I'm gonna go with answer C). C'mon man Sony doesn't care. It would be cool if there were a little wink wink multiverse hint from Venom's cameo in No Way Home buuuuuuuuuut my faith in these Sony products that aren't Spider-Man has been tainted. If they do Ill circle back to this comment saying i was wrong with a brand-new tattoo of multiple venoms pointing at each other.

Just started the new Blood Hunt event, trying to get caught up asap! I’ve just finished Doctor Strange #15 and I’m really enjoying it so far. Definitely a change of pace from Gang Wars 😂
Not that anyone asked. The first comic I read was Venom: Carnage by Peter Milligan. I was maybe 8-9, and it fuckedd me up like, “This is what comics are!” but it was terrific, and Venom has been my main guy ever since. I am so glad and excited to see Toxic!
Good to start right there! Theres a mini series beforehand (ultimate Universe) from 2023 but it’s spelled out well in the Ult Spi book! It’s all ya need!
Blood Hunt has taken over and gotten me back into comics. Napalm Lullaby is also really amazing. Really looking forward to Last Mermaid 3. That’s been a lot of fun to experience so far.
My god war of the Symbiotes is coming. Also loving how it dovetails from Spiderman: No Way Home since he is waring the same clothing from that event. Even the post credit scene with the Symbiote sliver on the table counter but now with the Bartender instead of Eddie says they are in the Venom universe. Also Patrick Mulligians Toxin giving of Loki vibe during whole scene as he slams his arm on the class window like Loki threatening Black Widow in Marvels Avengers (2012). It looks like Chiwetel's character wants to capture the symbiotes and destroy them ones in for all. So basically Toxin is the grandchild of Venom since he is the child of Carnage.
But the bar scene makes no sense. Of course, once we see the film maybe it will make sense. But I don't see how. That post credit scene in the bar was the MCU. Where Mordo exists. So, something tells me and most Sony is throwing all continuity out the window.

Blood Hunt has taken over and gotten me back into comics. Napalm Lullaby is also really amazing. Really looking forward to Last Mermaid 3. That’s been a lot of fun to experience so far.

My god war of the Symbiotes is coming. Also loving how it dovetails from Spiderman: No Way Home since he is waring the same clothing from that event. Even the post credit scene with the Symbiote sliver on the table counter but now with the Bartender instead of Eddie says they are in the Venom universe. Also Patrick Mulligians Toxin giving of Loki vibe during whole scene as he slams his arm on the class window like Loki threatening Black Widow in Marvels Avengers (2012). It looks like Chiwetel's character wants to capture the symbiotes and destroy them ones in for all. So basically Toxin is the grandchild of Venom since he is the child of Carnage.
But the bar scene makes no sense. Of course, once we see the film maybe it will make sense. But I don't see how. That post credit scene in the bar was the MCU. Where Mordo exists. So, something tells me and most Sony is throwing all continuity out the window.
@@Magdalena8008s they are kind of paying homage to the bar scene but switching it up, but it's in his universe instead of the MCU timeline.
