Do not stitch leather on this machine. After few rounds it will break. If you want to stitch leather, use only machine with double or triple feed walking foot.

I like what Brandon asked 2 weeks ago "Did you say you changed the timing in some way to make this work on leather?" I have this machine but I am struggling to just sew two layers of cotton webbing. Hi there, Hope you could help me with my problem about my sewing machine. Every time that I sew, that thread just breaks/cut in any speed. I don't know where to adjust. There are also times that when I sew, that stitch is like _ _ __ _ _ _ ___ _ _ _____ _ _

Kelvin Mateo, often times when thread breaks on me is because I need to reposition the needle exactly right. If you have the machine manual with you, please follow the guideline i.e. face the groove facing you or to your right etc....
I sew velcro-- the hook part and if I do not position the needle correctly, I break the thread. Hope this helps.

machine for heavy work. Usually for heavy work like upholstery is Wlaking foot
machine is recommended.

Rockwood Joe I use the Juki 1541 for this task daily and I highly recommend it. I also use it to sew 4 to 6 oz leather handbags.

What is also the best tension or stitch size when sewing a soft tulle. I am a designer, I basically use a soft tulle (skin tone) for my gowns but I sometimes had problems in sewing a tulle. There were times it was neat and sometimes, it wont work.. Thanks
check the needle and set correctly the presser foot, don’t hesitate to go on very fine thread like 180
Would you know know any reasons as to why my top thread keeps breaking? I
have this same specific machine model ( Juki DDL 8700 - H ) and I am still not very familiar
with it, but I keep running into errors where the top thread breaks or,
as I stitch, the top thread stitches in a very loose manner through leather. I usually
do go through the order of readjusting all tensions and rethreading,
but, even while I am sewing, the tension on the upper thread/tensions discs changes
automatically on it's own.
Also, my stitch length know and right-side stitching knob are very tight whenever I have to adjust them? Would you know how I can loosen or correctly set these where can move them comfortable and at ease?

I have an 8500 and the same thing started happening to me. My tension post was loose. Pulled it out when I was trying to adjust the tension, part were everywhere. Had to remove the thread tension assembly to fix the problem. Information on page 10 of the 8500 manual. This might help if its not too late.
