- In today’s video, we featured Julie and her custom ram pro master camper van conversion. This is a very unique floorplan built specifically for a solo traveler. Van was first built by a pro builder for her and she used it for sure. Her time and decided that she would like the floor plan changed around, so she met with Mike at JM custom coach builders, and he completely rearranged her floor plan to suit her needs and included a very large shower.

I had agoraphobia too, which lasted for 7 years. Since then I have earned a master's degree, I sing in front of hundreds of people, have my screen actor's guild card (SAG), did a trip around the country in my own RV with my daughter, traveled to Africa (twice) along with many other countries and now have started traveling abroad by myself. Also, this van is perfect for me. If I built one this would be my model. Good job Julie and Mike!!

I love the design, and Mike did an amazing job changing the other build.

She really made some great choices. If you can't have everything, then room for shoes, shower, for pooping, clothes, a great bed, cooking and washing her own clothes, wow, those are great decisions I would make as a woman. I wish you could safely add a bicycle, (like so it wouldn't be stolen).

I like the changes that she made. On a hot day a shower before bed is a good thing. In my opinion beds take up too much space, so the builder came up with a smart solution. Nice van build. I hope she finds happiness in her new life.

Nice to see a comfortable but common sense approach to the bed, especially for a single traveler. So many of these van conversions make the bed the main feature, gobbling up so much space. I would think that gets boring quick. This is flexible, functional and comfortable. People really need to understanding camping minimalism before doing their van builds.

Me, too! That so many people have van builds where a bed takes up half the van space makes zero sense. A shower, instead, is that idea!!
Julie is wonderful! I love when someone is so involved and in love with their build. So glad she’s able to get out and enjoy life, agoraphobia can be terrifying.
What a great van build! I've often said that I'd rather a smaller bed with a toilet & shower, than a bigger bed and none.

I love how bright it is. When she opened those back doors, the light just flooded in.
Good for her that she was able to change her life in such a drastic way, find freedom and enjoy traveling and nature! The van certainly seems to have everything she needs and that is what matters. Is great that she found a builder willing to fulfill her wishes. I think it was also helpful that she had experience with the previous version. That is why when you want to convert a van you should take it out a few times with only removable items or use cardboard boxes to simulate a layout so you can get a feeling for it, before you decide.

That's when being shorter is a huge advantage, a Queen in her castle! Fantastic custom design in a short manageable van. I was thinking that it needs a TV, but maybe life will be more fulfilling with less distractions. Congrats to the designer for that perfect job, to NJ Outdoors for showcasing it, and many blessings to the lady in her new way of life, be safe AND adventurous, beautiful stranger!

I really liked this build more than any other that Iv seen. I like her compact bed that folds up, her shower area with the hand held shower head, the kitchen and walk in area. Everything is just right with this one!

I've watched this video a couple times and the 'physical' item that stands out for me is the Murphy Cot and Julie's commentary around why a cot sized bed vs a full/queen sized bed. I had zeroed in on a full size b/c I would want a large bed (and I'm 6'1")...but...this is van life. Go with what you need and make changes in the future if you like...which is also what Julie did here when she wanted to update her original build. Bigger Picture: I think there is a lot to be learned here in this video. Sometimes what we thought we wanted, isn't. Listen to your inner voice and make changes. Explore and Travel. You can overcome your fears. Just Get Out There And Do It. Going from agoraphobia to van life traveling? Wow. What can you say except - what an amazing come-back story. Forget 'come-back players of the year' in various sports. This woman is re-born into the universe. May others with challenges (similar to Julie's or other challenges) see this video and be inspired to take the leap of faith in whatever they are thinking of doing.

Julie is a cutie. This is a really awesome build, kind of a trendy studio apartment on wheels. This is perfect for a solo van life person who doesn't want a mini build. But the bed looks too small for taller folks, not an issue for Julie. It's a really cool bed design, though.

Love this van. Honestly until she mentioned it it never dawned on me how rarely you see a solution for trash in someones van tour. Also liking the clear glass for the showers. That would open up a van visually so much more even if you had a more normal tiny corner shower in a van. Loving the idea of the murphy/fold out bed. Down low like that even less visual clutter again. Put it all down out of the eyeline. So many clever and actually original ideas in this build. As I said I love it.

The best part for me is that there is a shower, but the van still feels wide open. Doesn't feel confining at all.
And yes, the bed is plenty big enough.

This is one of the best layouts I've seen, Mike and Julie did a great job. We rented a Promaster campervan conversion in May to drive from Vermont to Salida, CO and back. What Julie said about the comfort of the seat is absolutely true for me, back to back 11-12 hour driving days without aches and pains the next day.

Finding a company that offers remote work will make van life/nomad life a better choice. It is better than having a house with mortgage.

Your curtain/water storage idea is pretty clever. Most people don't even try to have a shower in their builds, but you have one where you can stand or sit to shower.

This is the best van build, most practical that I have seen! Seriously. I have never commented that on any of the videos I have ever watched.
I'm SO with you, Julie, and Van builder - the bed taking up almost the whole van space is def. a "no go" for me, as well - if I had a camper van.
Interestingly, I just saw another TH-cam video, where a group of women, had a camper van gathering - all women participatants. . NONE of the women had a bed arrangement where the bed took up a lot of space in their vans.
I also could not go without a shower and a place to put my dirty clothes. The little washer used for smaller items of clothing is very smart.
I LOVE the shower - that rubber "lip" is - superlative!

Awesome build, I think living in a van first gives you the idea of what you need and what you don't, what works and what doesn't, I like how the bed folds up and the shower and toilet, especially the urine diverted into the gray tank. Be careful with dumping the gray tank anywhere it's illegal in some states, national/state parks, and if you are dumping it someplace other than sewer you need to use biodegradable soaps so it doesn't hurt the environment.

Usually, I'm not a van person, I lean more towards tiny houses. But this is an *awesome* build, it's truly well thought out & usable. I love the van! I'm 4'11" now. Used to be a hefty 5 feet lol. I love the ideas that allow you to access everything high up. The shower area is perfect. It really doesn't take up a lot of space because it's all usable when you're not showering. The bed is a perfect idea. You don't need it out all the time. Too bad you didn't take out your cooktop. I see you have a white one. How unique. Enjoy your travels. Congrats on overcoming agoraphobia!

The best part is the shower, I went through agoraphobia for a while, with the wonderful panic, and after 7 docs, I found one who figured out it was my thyroid, my numbers were good but it was the restless leg that was causing the thyroid to not work, most people do not realize the thyroid runs your whole system, including the contact to receptors in our brains, I was put on lowest dose of thyroid and have never had a problem since, I did have to go to sleep clinic to find it, but I'm so grateful to this doctor. I feel like he saved my life. My youngest son has issues as well, and I think my mom did but it was never found, her life was tragically sad. I love your Van and sending positive vibes for you on your Journey. Beautifully constructed Van.

OMGods this HAS to be the best van build I have seen! The amount of storage and use for this! She isn't claustrophobic and the bed and wow I am not kidding I may need this guy to help me as well! I am also 5ft tall! I will follow her adventures. Her story touched me seems she had to get away from the relationship to BREATH and find herself!

I would add a little flip up ledge on the edge of the sink cabinet above the toilet to give you a little more bench space or have a lagoon table to setup on the passenger chair when sitting in it :)
