I have to say this is one of the best low tech van builds I’ve seen! You’ve kept it simple, inexpensive and pretty minimal showing you don’t have to spend a ton of money on a van build. This puts vanlife in reach of most people. I came away with some great ideas on planning my van build! Thank you for sharing your home on wheels with us. You have a new follower! Safe travels! ☺️
I saw a Ford Transit Connect van at work today and immediately thought about converting it. I like that it's small, fits in parking spaces, stealth. It's perfect for 1 person. I'm gonna think about getting one!!!!
That’s awesome! It’s funny… I seem to ‘convert’ every vehicle I see now in my head🤫 I’ll be like, ‘oooh, that would make a cute little home on wheels’ 😂☺️🐞
I like the Ford Transit, but because I have several medical issues, I am looking 👀 at a larger Transit cargo van to make into a camper so I can stand and move around in it easily. I have already decided my purpose for transitioning from an apartment to the van. My main concern is the affordability of maintaining this lifestyle. Anybody have any suggestions on van ownership budgeting on a Single Seniors’ Social Security income.
So glad this lady popped up…. Such a practical & economical approach to the build, Maintinance & the life of a single lady doing this…. One of the best I’ve seen…
My kind of van build! One thing that is putting me off van life is driving a huge vehicle (I've always driven small cars!) But this shows that it's possible to do a perfect living space in a smaller vehicle. Thank you for sharing!
I've had my 2011 Transit Connect for 5 years. Here's a fun fact; a waterproof crib mattress pad fits over the open back doors and makes a little canopy over the back doors. I use some magnet clips to hold it in place. I removed the rear door panels and and fit a shelf between them that is my outdoor kitchen counter. Your van is beautiful and inspiring. I'm not a full timer, just an occasional camper.
Nicely done. No pretense and a pleasant humility keep tugging at my interest. I just purchased a Ram Promaster with a 159" wheelbase and am trying to keep it simple, keeping costs reasonable and not to take things too seriously. Thank you for putting yourself out there.
I am 68 and single with a little rescue dog that I love. I want a Van just like yours or maybe one I could stand up in, but I definitely want to get out and going. Living on a fixed income is difficult for me to save up for a Van, but it is my goal. Thank you for the details, it's so helpful.
Your use of space in your Connect is ingenious and creative! I wouldn't have expected such a small space to yield so many comforts. Congratulations on a great conversion!
My dream is to have a van like this. Your ideas make it feel possible. Just the essentials that work.A lace for everything and everything in its lace !
Praying for you and your grand baby! My oldest son had surgery at 3 Days old so I know when it's a little one is very much serious thing. He is 29 now, happy and healthy! Take care 💖
If I was a single vanlife-er I would do something small. My man is 6’2 so we had to convert it to the tallest van you’ll ever see!!! We can both stand up and change and get ready for our day. Uploading videos soon!!! Great job!
So, out of all the conversions I’ve watched; I like yours the most. Yours is so much more felt left with the settee at one end, rather than the long bench seat taking up the whole length on one side. Your decor really appeals to me. Versatile, without being utilitarian. Well done you 👏🏻👏🏻
Great video but just a word of caution, some people will break out a window for just $10, let alone a several hundred dollar Jackery!!! I would at least cover it or conceal it somewhere out of sight!!!
Thank you! Yes, if I am out and about things have places to hide that I will not reveal😎 that’s really the most expensive thing in my van. I try not to think too much about that kind of thing. Thanks for your concern. Much appreciated.
It is ALWAYS SMART TO CONCEAL VALUABLES IN ANY VEHICLE! That is why vanlifers use window screens and curtains (black-outs) are best to conceal valuable, provide privacy and decorate the interior van, also for insulation to help keep your van comfortable in most any temperature.
Hi! I'm 44 with pets and a 12 Year old son. I am currently watching and learning for when my child grows up. I'm so excited to watch these videos. Thank you 😊
This is such a nice design, I've always wanted to live in a TRULY tiny home, and when I see van lifers they all have huge vans that don't fit in parking spots! Tysm for the inspo!
Great build! If I wasn't so tall, I'd totally do something like this! The problem I'm having right now is making a functional space for my height. Everything works up until the having a place to sleep, cause I'm so tall I reach from the back of the vehicle into the driver's area. Still figuring it out, but I'm committed to doing this, so one way or another, I'll make it work.

I have a 2011 Premium Wagon XLT with the second row seating and windows all around. I like the simplicity of your design decisions. Mine is white and it didn't dawn on me to repaint the interior metal a different color. I bought 20 of those ceramic magnets to hold up mesh over the windows as well as temporary curtains when sleeping in the back. Watching this video, I have decided that I need to remove my second row seating to make it a clean slate. Great job!
'Just love your bubbly personality! And you're always so informative that I don't think there's anything you miss out on explaining! Thanks for sharing!
I really like this van! My husband and I want to van life in the summers (he's a teacher so we have 3 months free in the summer). On the internet theres either completely unfinished vans of instagram perfect vans. And fully fitting out a van is intimidating. We would definitely be getting a bigger van but its nice to see one thats not fully lined with wood or drywall
Thank you for all of your videos. I purchased a mini cargo van back in November but I haven’t done anything to it because I was overwhelmed with all the work. Wanting it to be perfectly built or the expectation of what I should have and look like. But your videos have given me confidence that I can really DIY and have it more practical and pretty at the same time.
I love to make a list to get things started. You could make a list and then have sub lists. I think breaking things down makes it seem easier and doable.
I’ve been rewatching this same upload several times since you published and this weekend finally bought my micro camper. I’m so excited to have some freedom and leaving the rat race in two weeks to spend some time converting it at my parents. Thanks for being inspiring.
Nice job in building, organizing and decorating your van space. Especially with painting the interior to match the existing ceiling. Nice use of small space organization as well, and decorating to make it more comfortable feeling.
This van looks really cosy inside! I always thought a tiny van would be... I don't know... all perfectly regimented to make it fit, but this is lovely! I particularly like the combination of untreated wood with soft fabrics. It is, as someone else said, "homey comfy cottage-y." :) I love the double-use pillows! Good work fitting it all to factory attachment points where possible.
You have so many awesome creative ideas. I love how you explain everything as you go. You have a cozy little home on wheels that looks so serene. Thank you for the video. Blessings to you.
Great video and very well put together as I might possibly forced into vanlife not by choice but my living expenses are absolutely killing my monthly budget so certainly a viable option!! Kudos to you and thank you for so many great ideas!! :)-
What impresses me the most is how clean, colorful, and organized the inside of your van is, because I lack your talent. I built out my high-top Chevy Express van. But after two years, I still don't have my organization worked out, nor your "artist's touch". You're amazing!
You are so lovely! This is the first (in two years of obsession, lol) that looked reasonably doable. Such a practical approach but also with great aesthetics. Thank you so much. I’m switching from the Ford high top Transit to the Connect. Bravo!
First tme watching a van convertion of yours and I'm surprised that there is no red / anything brightly-colored element inside your car. It's a nice contrast to your lady bug ♥️. It also looks cozy and wider because of the light colors + wood. Your tip about the magnets + hooks is helpful too.
Except for the rugs, if they were wooden, I could totally see a Japanese person coming to your van and totally being able to relate to everything. Simple, utilitarian, practical and totally livable. The Japanese would simply roll out the mattress and voila. Wooden bowls, chopsticks and tea. Nice.
I am glad you like it. Yes, I love simplicity and organization. I suppose it does seem rather like some of the Japanese washitsu style ‘tatami rooms’ 😊 I feel honored you would think so!
Love this comment! I couldn't figure out why I love her van more than the bigger ones ... I think u expressed it for me ...no visual bed ...during the day ...thank you for figuring it out for me. And it is super cozy...everything at your fingertips...and it has it all w out having extra to keep care/track of.
You have been very creative and organized. Good job! I Live in my 1997 Dodge Caravan not fixed up a lot of different things to fix window motor R side , some electrical, and some maintenance a lot of small stuff.
I use the shoe bag for small quilting fabric. I like your using the back area van for your bed. You have given yourself the center of the van to live in. Good job!
Your van is super cute! Thank you for sharing. I’m in the middle of building out my tiny 2020 Transit Connect Cargo and you have given me lots of good ideas.
I cannot begin to say THANK YOU enough for taking your genuinely precious time to look up all the links to the stuff you talk about in this video. I have been in desperate search of small thin water containers for my car camper conversion and because you took the time to find the link for the clear ones you use I was also finally able to purchase the perfect water container!!! Thank you so so so much!!!! Keep doing what you’re doin!!
With your creativity I am sure you could sell that quote on a site like Etsy, etc. If you do, let me know I would like to purchase one (before I steal it--Did I say that out loud?).
So first of all - this lady is the definition of cool 😎- absolutely adore her! And secondly - this van is awesome!! Love that it’s not a faux studio apartment on wheels 😌👌🏻👏🏻
Really pretty, you could sew some pockets onto the living side of your dividing curtain to gain even more storage, I did this to my son's bedroom curtains when he was small to store all his Mr Men toys!
Very nice. Well thought out. I just bought a "Home on Wheels" kit for my minivan. Can't wait to install it and get out on the road. I really enjoy seeing instructional videos like yours that show the ins and outs of van life and your great tips on helping to make a "van" a home. Thanks!
I especially like how you manage your water. The smaller containers, the pump and dog shower. The more I see these smaller connect vans, the more I like them.
Love the van conversion especially the 🔴, a welcome change of 🎨 from all the ⚪. Those over the window cover for bugs are a good idea vs the netting type but the link doesn't take you to it.
It's so nice to be able to drop in and see what you've done. I have a 1-person sleeper conversion from a Honda Stepwagon which isn't exactly blessed with a lot of room. Great takeaways from this video are the use of hooks and magnets (on the curtains), and especially the big one will be the extendable shower rail which I'll be getting and using as a home for all sorts of things to hang from once I've parked up. Thanks for the inspiration.
Your van is the GOAT! You have made lots of improvements since this video, and I would love to see an updated FULL VAN TOUR! PLEASE!!!! Love you and your channel! If I ever did a van if my own I would copy yours exactly!
This van life is really becoming a thing. I was at Walmart right after dark and counted 7-8 different vehicles parking away from the shopping crowd in the Walmart parking lot.
Wow this van has to best affordable van home I have seen. The bells and whistles are nice but it adds so much $$ to the budget! I love the size of it. You still have a lot of space in there. Thank You for sharing.
This is an awesome build. I have been pre-designing mine with the idea of using existing items instead of making everything custom and you've done a really great job showcasing how that looks and works. Thank you!
@@LadyBugout Do you have a video or instructions on how you attached the roof rack? I finally got my van and starting from scratch! This is one thing I haven't seen much coverage on but I am thinking want to start with the roof because I think I'm going to do solar, the awning, and maybe a lil sitting deck up there :)
This is brilliant!! I love that you didn't have to do a bunch of extra things, drilling and wiring and such. It makes it more doable and affordable for someone who's not sure how long they would use the van for. Thank you so much for sharing! Super well done.
been thinking about van living and the build is functional and simple. It really comes down to what you actually need over what you want or desire. Homes are full of stuff just stuff unnecessary to life so that looks all about no frills what you absolutely need and cost effective can't argue with that.
I've been planning on getting a small van such as a Transit for this exact purpose, so of course in my research, I ran across your channel. What a plethora of knowledge and ideas! Thanks for all your informative videos, I'll definitely be referring to them when I start my build. Rock on!
I really like these van videos. I love the idea of just traveling or even camping in something like this. Big enough to be a shelter, but small enough to not defeat the purpose of going somewhere either in nature or some destination. Tent camping isn't always the most plausible and RVs are expensive, inefficient, and take away from the experience. This looks perfect.
Wow! Living in a typical tiny house or sprinter van is exceptionally small. You are in a shrink wrapped van. That’s pretty impressive. It amazes me how much can be stored in small spaces. I once moved with all of my belongings in my little Honda Civic. I felt like Fred on I Love Lucy when he attempted to pack the car for their cross country trip.🤣 And no, I’m not old enough to have seen the show when it was aired. I’m 38.🤓
It depends where you are because it is not square measuring anywhere. But I think the tallest interior height it gets is 54 or 55 inches. Hope that helps. I can not stand upright in it. But I can crouch slightly to get to storage above the front seats. And to pull pants on, etc. I thought it would really get to be bothersome, but so far I hardly think about it now.
@@LadyBugout I am 5" shy of being able to stand completely upright. 🤣 Did you show your potty & I missed it or do you have it on another video? I love the way you used the overhead room. Great idea.
Congratulations on your van conversion. Your solutions look comfortable and posses great style. I love the kitchen and sofa. The lady bug magnet is a nice touch. Thank you for the tour!
Love how detailed and clean it is for such a small.van. I think for me I would want to go just a bit larger and have head room. But overall that is a beautiful set up. I am 71 going on 72 and planning to rid myself of rent high electric bills etc. So hoping to find something that has a little conversion set up and I can finish it for myself and my old.lady needs.
Thank you, Suezette! Yes, it is not for everyone. I hope you find the perfect van and set it up exactly how you want it!!! Have fun and I’ll see you down the road☺️
@@LadyBugout That would fantastic. Our journey can lead to many wonderful people towns and for me I just want to see God's beautiful creation and soak it up. 🙏 ❤️ ladybug 🐞 ♥️
That's quite nice. I like how you keep everything minimal and functional. People do a lot less with more space than you've done here. For me, I'd probably want something just a little bigger, but with the same super crafty features like the folding bed, single movable water source, etc.

You are so lovely! This is the first (in two years of obsession, lol) that looked reasonably doable. Such a practical approach but also with great aesthetics. Thank you so much. I’m switching from the Ford high top Transit to the Connect. Bravo!
Thank you for the encouragement Hilary! It means a lot to me☺️
Your use of so little space is amazing. Looks so cozy.
Thank you!☺️🐞🚗
I just love this van so much. I really relate to you and it. Keep up the vids. Thanks.
I will be watching other people's van life videos and then suddenly you appear. It's neat how you van celebs hang out together and support each other.
We are glad to have each other’s company!
WOW SHOWER AT THE DOOR IS GENIUS
Thanks 🤗☺️
First tme watching a van convertion of yours and I'm surprised that there is no red / anything brightly-colored element inside your car. It's a nice contrast to your lady bug ♥️. It also looks cozy and wider because of the light colors + wood. Your tip about the magnets + hooks is helpful too.
Thank you. I really appreciate it!
I really love your van. The layout is fantastic especially all the open space when your bed is in bench mode.
Love this comment! I couldn't figure out why I love her van more than the bigger ones ... I think u expressed it for me ...no visual bed ...during the day ...thank you for figuring it out for me. And it is super cozy...everything at your fingertips...and it has it all w out having extra to keep care/track of.
Lovely home
You have been very creative and organized. Good job! I Live in my 1997 Dodge Caravan not fixed up a lot of different things to fix window motor R side , some electrical, and some maintenance a lot of small stuff.
I use the shoe bag for small quilting fabric. I like your using the back area van for your bed. You have given yourself the center of the van to live in. Good job!
Thanks Barbara! It was important to me to have the space there. It makes it feel more open🤗
Your van is super cute! Thank you for sharing. I’m in the middle of building out my tiny 2020 Transit Connect Cargo and you have given me lots of good ideas.
Yay! Tiny vans unite 🤗
Love seeing how others design their home on wheels! Thanks for sharing, super cute!
☘️
Thank you!
It looks great, and lots of room inside considering it's such a small van! Great van and great video, thanks for posting.
Thanks for watching!
Love it, love it love it💞💞💞 I'm 5'3 and a traveling nurse, this is the best video on practical van life!!!thank you Ladybug 🐞
Thank you Kamala! I’m so glad it is helpful for you☺️
You should do this for other people. You did very well. I could see you going around and doing van tours. You’re very well spoken. And very thorough.
I appreciate you saying that. Thank you☺️
I cannot begin to say THANK YOU enough for taking your genuinely precious time to look up all the links to the stuff you talk about in this video. I have been in desperate search of small thin water containers for my car camper conversion and because you took the time to find the link for the clear ones you use I was also finally able to purchase the perfect water container!!! Thank you so so so much!!!! Keep doing what you’re doin!!
You are very welcome. I’m glad you were able to get the perfect containers 🐞🥰💃🏻
"This is my happy camper place." (-Lady Bugout) LOVE IT! Lots of great ideas. Thanks for sharing.
Thank you 🤗
With your creativity I am sure you could sell that quote on a site like Etsy, etc. If you do, let me know I would like to purchase one (before I steal it--Did I say that out loud?).
@@jatorresrv 😂 you are too kind!!!
You’re very very organized and prepared for everything !
It helps me to stay sane in a small space😛
So first of all - this lady is the definition of cool 😎- absolutely adore her!
And secondly - this van is awesome!! Love that it’s not a faux studio apartment on wheels 😌👌🏻👏🏻
Thank you Johannes!!! I appreciate the encouragement ☺️🐞🚗
Really pretty, you could sew some pockets onto the living side of your dividing curtain to gain even more storage, I did this to my son's bedroom curtains when he was small to store all his Mr Men toys!
Ooohhhhh I like that idea!!!! ♥️🐞♥️
Great video. Your build is so creative, cozy and thorough yet seem attainable on any budget. Thanks for sharing.
Thank you. I’m so glad you find it helpful and attainable☺️
Hey Dee! Lady Bugout is looking great,
I love how you made use of all the spaces!
YOU are awesome!
Safe travels, Marshall 😊
Thank you Marshall. YOU are awesome☺️
Very nice. Well thought out. I just bought a "Home on Wheels" kit for my minivan. Can't wait to install it and get out on the road. I really enjoy seeing instructional videos like yours that show the ins and outs of van life and your great tips on helping to make a "van" a home. Thanks!
How exciting. Hope to see you in the road some time!
I especially like how you manage your water. The smaller containers, the pump and dog shower. The more I see these smaller connect vans, the more I like them.
Thank you Norma. It really is more practical. I have really enjoyed it!
😮Qué Maravilla so well thought out...my mind goes 100 miles an hour n havin to slow down. Such a wonderful set up🥰
So glad you enjoyed it!☺️
With your aviator glasses you look like your ready to take off on a trip! Happy trails!
You are correct! Thank you.
Love the van conversion especially the 🔴, a welcome change of 🎨 from all the ⚪. Those over the window cover for bugs are a good idea vs the netting type but the link doesn't take you to it.
Thank you for pointing that out. I’ll try to redo the link.
This van conversion is impressive! Very well designed!
Thank you Donna!
Thank you Christopher! Glad there was some useful info for you🚗🐞☺️
Your van is the GOAT! You have made lots of improvements since this video, and I would love to see an updated FULL VAN TOUR! PLEASE!!!! Love you and your channel! If I ever did a van if my own I would copy yours exactly!
Thank you Michelle. I am actually going to be doing exactly that soon….with some fun changes that you might enjoy! 🐞💃🏻🚗
@@LadyBugout Can’t wait to see it!!!!
This is the simplest, tiniest and cosy-est van I've ever seen... It's really practical and all... I love it. Happy you were recommended
Thank you. I’m glad too☺️🐞💃🏻🚗
So many great ideas! Definitely saving for when I build out my own van. Thank you!
Thank you Ruby! Glad it was helpful😊
This van life is really becoming a thing. I was at Walmart right after dark and counted 7-8 different vehicles parking away from the shopping crowd in the Walmart parking lot.
Yep!😎
Thanks for telling about the pillow/sleeping bag idea. That's good to know.
Glad it was helpful!
Wow this van has to best affordable van home I have seen. The bells and whistles are nice but it adds so much $$ to the budget!
I love the size of it. You still have a lot of space in there. Thank You for sharing.
Thank you! 💃🏻🐞🚗
This is an awesome build. I have been pre-designing mine with the idea of using existing items instead of making everything custom and you've done a really great job showcasing how that looks and works. Thank you!
Thank you Amy! Glad it is useful info for you. It is so fun to do the pre-planning! 🎉🥳🎉
Nice pic
Your proper English is a pleasure to listen to
Thank you Viktor!
OMG, I have been watching you for a while and never caught that your name is Dee, my name is also Dee. Such a small world.
Hi Dee! Sorry I did not see this til now. For some reason, a few of the comments have been slipping through the cracks. My full name is Delores☺️
The side window deflectors are so you can still have your windows down if it's raining. Theyre not at all for security. lolz
Yep! 👍🏻
You should be designing these tiny vans! Many people would pay handsomely for your talent!
Aww thank you!
Very innovative. Your smile is incredible.
Thank you for watching and commenting!☺️
I love your home on wheels. If I could, I would have one similar to yours. :)
Hi Dee, Wow wonderful tour. Your pointing out details the other interviewers didn't cover. Nice job.
Finally someone with some sort of fire retardant. All these luxury builds and no one thinks to put a damn fire extinguisher in their *HOME*
🤗🐞🚗
This is brilliant!! I love that you didn't have to do a bunch of extra things, drilling and wiring and such. It makes it more doable and affordable for someone who's not sure how long they would use the van for. Thank you so much for sharing! Super well done.
Thank you for the encouraging words. That is exactly what I was hoping to show☺️
The battery operated light switch light is so cute :D I adore the design. Very cute :)))
Thanks ☺️
I just love your van! So cute and so organized!
Thank you! Are you thinking of van life or are you already?
@@LadyBugout I am definitely wanting to do vanlife but not ready just yet.
I am dressing out a 2019 Ford Transit. Much bigger but, I want to put a lot in there! You gave me some wonderful ideas. Thank you!
That’s great!
Pure genius! Excellent presentation. Very clever. I'm having cabin fever and not sure what direction to go. Thank you!!😊
Glad it was helpful! Thank you🐞🚗💃🏻
been thinking about van living and the build is functional and simple. It really comes down to what you actually need over what you want or desire. Homes are full of stuff just stuff unnecessary to life so that looks all about no frills what you absolutely need and cost effective can't argue with that.
Yes! It really does come down to that. I think we are conditioned to think we need more than we really do to live well😌
@@LadyBugout agree loved the vid kind of made me realise I can do the same without spending a fortune.
Superb setup - well though out and executed!
Thank you, TJ! Glad you like it☺️
I've been planning on getting a small van such as a Transit for this exact purpose, so of course in my research, I ran across your channel. What a plethora of knowledge and ideas! Thanks for all your informative videos, I'll definitely be referring to them when I start my build. Rock on!
Si glad you find my channel useful. Good luck with your build!!!🐞🚗💃🏻
Yes! I went through that process in my mind when making this decision too. Glad it makes sense. 🐞🤗🐞
I love this so much. This makes it seem like something that could be accessible, even to me, once I find work, again. Thanks!
That is what I like to hear!☺️
Lol- yes, it is tiny! But I wouldn’t trade it for anything💃🏻🐞🚗
Your tiny van looks great. It's fun to see you talk about it - you're so excited. :) Already a subscriber!
Hey Colleen! Thank you. Yes, I love my little lady bugout🥰
This van feels so surprisingly large. What is the height of the interior, floor to ceiling?
☺️thank you. I appreciate the kind words.
So well said. It would be good if more of us humans simply went around soaking up the beauty, rather than rushing around doing silly stuff!
That's quite nice. I like how you keep everything minimal and functional. People do a lot less with more space than you've done here. For me, I'd probably want something just a little bigger, but with the same super crafty features like the folding bed, single movable water source, etc.
Thank you! 😊 Yes, if I had a larger van I’d keep a lot of the same features as well.
How awesome! Thanks for the tour
Thank YOU for watching 🤗
