THX for the very serious and professional comparison.
Really well done review/compare. You could really hear the difference between all three. The Seventeen is hard to beat for the price.
i have the bluey, the seventeen sounds really good on bass & vocal : lots of character
That distortion from the 17 on vocals 👌. I wonder what it sounds like on some metal vocals.
I just picked up one because of the mix knob on this hardware
My favorite feature by far!
Thanks for making this video. I currently have a modded Klark KT-2a (upgraded Kenetek T4b Opto and Harma Retro tubes) along with the KT76. Both sound different and I particularly like the KT-2a on vocals. However, I have had a tube go out on me and this is a little disconcerting as I can’t afford to waste time taking it out the rack and replacing the tube during a session. Hopefully this won’t happen often but it’s left me feeling nervous.
As a result, I’m looking for something that can give me a similar thickness and high frequency smoothing that doesn’t use tubes and I’m quite interested in the BLA Seventeen.
Heh Richard, I think you would find the Seventeen might be going in the opposite direction. Definitely similar in overall 'weight' but, it would bring the signal more forward compared to the Opto sound. The Seventeen is definitely that FET sound and a bit more than most.
@@Featherlightstudio Thanks. Yes I was wondering this.
Cómo me gustaría ver este mismo tutorial en español, pues está muy bien explicado con sus gráficos en fin enhorabuena
Creo que tendré que mejorar mucho en español antes de poder hacer eso. lol
Excellent review. I’ve recently bought a 17. I do wish BLA didn’t wire the Attack backwards? They should have kept the Bluey independent to this specific mod. I have no idea why they did this?
When I spoke to them, they said it was to match the C.L.A. model they emulated but I agree, I wish it was just stock to match all my other 76 style comps.
Turning the other way feels cooler. Feels like youre breaking all the rules but keeping a great sound
Thank 4 the test. Seventeen add clarity, means heights to the signal. Or on the other hand, tame the mid lows only on compression. Its a bit difficultely to analyse, but there's nothing wrong here. Sounds great. For vocals is a bomb! But I don't like the Klark Technic, sounds like a simple anything comp. So in my opinion:
Nothing with V8 and big burgers - the Seventeen completely contradicts the cliché of the American way of life in its sound performance. It creates air and lightness and, as a compressor, doesn't appear coarse, but very nice and subtle and handles the frequencies with kid gloves rather than with a chainsaw. For your money you get a very high-quality device with a 3-year manufacturer's guarantee and a great feel. I recommend the Seventeen for hip-hop and rap producers but there are also compressors for banging chart hits that go more in the direction of "more loudness". The Black Lion can give a recording of a live concert a better overview, help the drummer get a better picture of the whole picture or adapt the singer's dynamics to the band.
I think the 17 smoked the others once applied to bass and vocals
Agreed, the Seventeen definitely has more grit and character and the fact that you can dial that down with the mix knob is a game changer.
That's interesting abo 13:52 ut the attack knob,I got mine about 2018 but my attack acts like the release I'm wondering if They did that after I got mine
Maybe, honestly I wish it was like the other 1176’s in our rack, I always have to stop and think about it being backwards. It’s great..till your in a hurry lol
@@Featherlightstudio It's very easy to open the unit up and flip the 2 outside wires on the connector to the attack pot. Did it to mine. Works like any 1176 now. No soldering required.
@@vminator Definitely going to check this out. The Seventeen being designed after the CLA unit is interesting and all but kind of impractical in a rack full of 1176's for sure.
Can I use this for all instruments in a dance track
As this is hardware, you could run just about anything through it.
Bien he escuchado este tutorial en diferentes dispositivos y creo que el problema no es el compresor, creo que esa batería está muy mal grabada lo siento amigo😊
Qué tiene mal 🤔?
