    Absolutely the right stand, and sand, and bushes, and accent plant. I'd lose the zebra - but that's just me.

    The red sand does make the walnut stand the preferred pedestal. It's amazing what difference a bit of color makes in the display. Good luck with the Bonsai Show Nigel.

    your friend Matt did a really good job on that stand for your tree I wish I had a stand made like that right now the stand I have is a piece of plywood for now and I'm going to be getting a turntable soon for my jade tree to sit on

    That dressing soil did it, it looks authentic as a whole now, love it!!! I can see a giraffe coming to it and feeding on its lower leaves, awesome! Maybe you can try a 3D printed and painted giraffe instead of that zebra, it looks out of proportion now

    I do the same thing but I use Volcanic sand either Red or Black. I get the fine particles after sifting for use with my Bonsai Soil.

    Love it!! Love the grass looking moss makes it look more like real tall weeds. Sumerians said . the reason why the African soil is red is “from all the blood that was shed “. Your tree looked fantastic Sir Nigel. Best of luck from Tijuana Baja California MEXiCO. Que viva Nigel. ViVA

    I really enjoyed seeing all of the thought processes involved in getting this great tree ready for a show. I have never had the courage to put any of my trees near a show but perhaps now I may start to think about it :) Good Luck Nigel.

    Looks amazing! Could such a fine sand structure clog the soil and make it less breathable? Usually this is what we fight against: we fight against dust and fine particles.

  • @micahagresta
    @micahagresta 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    What would have been really cool, is if you put a lamp or some kind of bright light above the tree at the show. So the tree would cast a proportional shadow onto the zebra. So it looks like he is sitting in the shade.

    can you add some red dirt to the accent plant? it still looks amazing, i just thought adding the red dirt to the accent plant would complete the look. but all and all to me the red dirt makes the serissa look more mature even, fantastic job nigel!!

    Nigel, your channel has inspired me to finally take up a hobby that I learned about as a kid from a library book. I have some kind of pine that just sprouted up and only has about 4 needles on it. Its in a vegetable raised bed and cant be left in place. I usually pull them and let them die in the sun. Is there a way to get this one out alive to be my first bonsai? Ive also got my eye on another we just found in the edge of the yard. Its a little older and I feel confident about handling it. The new seedling is my concern. Thanks for all your videos. Its so much better to see it done than read it in a book.

      Am not eligible for advice but from my knowledge...Let it grow for a while then you can take it out...btw while potting keep some original soil with the roots cuz pines need some microbes that's already in d soil it grows!..anyone correct me if I am wrong plz!!
      Hope ya get an awesome bonsai!
