This game is definitely a whole lot better than Super Mario 64

It's funny how people complain about being booted out of the level when a level is complete in both 64 and Sunshine yet nobody complains about the same thing happening in the Galaxy games

Yeah people will overlook things for games they like. Granted I think galaxy is super overrated. Lol

    • @jaretco6423
      @jaretco6423 27 วันที่ผ่านมา

@Flare8295 That's because Galaxy goes for an more linear style approach rather than being in an open sandbox world like 64, Sunshine & Odyssey. If Galaxy didn't have the boot out system, than it makes going through the levels really long & nowhere to be brought back.

The fact that people think that being booted out of the level when a star is collected or a life is lost is a huge problem is something I'll never understand I'm literally the only person in existence who has never had a problem with that

@@marioandultrachap wanting something that makes the game better is being spoiled ? It was fine in 64 because that was the 1st game. Banjo and dk improved on it by not booting you so why go backwards ?

Good review! Man, the one major thing I despised in Sunshine was the Blue Coins. Some of them were actually hidden in _specific_ missions so if you missed one, it was really hard to figure out which ones you missed. Also, some appeared if you sprayed arbitrary objects in a level that weren't obvious.
Yeah, Sunshine seems to be the black sheep of the Mario 3D games. Mario 64 was the pioneer for 3D platforming and Galaxy refined things nicely. Sunshine is like the awkward teenage years of the series where they still had not figured things out completely. Also, yeah, going for 100% is an absolute waste of time and will drain your sanity.

How do you hate the gamecube controller? Genuinely the most comfortable controller I've ever used. The way L and R slide and then click at the end feels great too. The way ABXY all have distinct size and shape means its the only controller where I don't have to think about where ABXY are, vs other controllers all have different layouts for where ABXY is but since the buttons on them are all the same size and shape, I have to think where each one is. (also no nostalgia bias, I grew up with the wii and never got a gamecube until I started game collecting)
Also, the only controller you have doesn't even work right? I think you should at least use a working one until you form an opinion on it.

Good thing you didn’t go for 100%… Those blue coins are so cryptic they practically feel like the devs were trolling the players lol… and knowing which levels to find the 100 coins was also cryptic. I don’t get the logic behind that

The gimmick of buying shines with blue coins was definitely filler for only having 8 main courses. With how many rumors there were about cut courses in mario 64, you'd think nintendo would want to focus on making a game with more levels than its predecessor. Plot aside, i think the tropical island destination kinda limited the design options for levels. Yeah the "secret level" visual theme is pretty cool, i would have loved to see a more diverse visual design for some of the levels. I get that the "sunshine format" fixed your complaint about sm64's levels feeling disconnected, and now all the levels are connected literally on an island. I think there could have been some middle ground though

Were you alive when mario 64 released? If you experienced gaming back in the days then you would not have had that opinion about it. Yes, from today perspective its clunky etc but back in the day it was so good that many ppl bought nintendo 64 because of tjat game. And the Transition to 3d was epic back then.

I agree, I think it should be weighted in that 64 pretty much created the standard for third person 3D games. Is it great by today's standards? Maybe not, definitely not for everyone. But for its time there was literally nothing like it. I still thoroughly enjoy it and it is kind of surreal to look at how much it got right.

I think 64 is way better IMHO because it's much more polished in terms of gameplay and objectives and it has less glitches, sunshine obviously has the advantage of being in a newer hardware so it has far better graphics and better controls but it has more flaws and glitches especially in some of the missions, gameplay is more important for a mario game so I prefer 64.

To be fair, Galaxy plays more like the side scrolling ones where it's point A to point B instead of being an open sandbox game like 64, Sunshine & Odyssey. You'll still be collecting atuff to progress. But it's more like in an Crash Bandicoot style than something like Spyro the Dragon or Banjo-Kazooie. So I can understand that.

yeah the offshoot area stuff is completly correct and i think nintendo devs are overrated in general and there is tons of better talent out there that just doesnt get a chance. you can see it with indie games. i think games like hades would have been created back then as well if everybody had the same tools as nintendo devs

My review to sunshine it's the best 3D mario ever
The challenges are really hard especially that leafpad challenge
And the fact that i only buyed 3D alk stars for sunshine is great because 64 is shit while galaxy has motion
Sunshine is really a hard game to play i must admit that but the feeling when you collect a shine from a hard challenge is just so awarding and here's another thing the blue coins i admit it's really hard to get all of them for the 100% but there's feature called the map it tells you how many shines you've collected in one world and how many you still need
Even how many blue coins you need to finish off
And i really like sunshine the themes really let's you vibe to them especially lido sirena/hotel delfino it's just really refreshing
Paia paradiso/noki bay is really refreshing it's in my opinion near Lido sirena my favorite world
And i think sunshine is overhated i know there some glitches but it's the first time going HD graphics and 3D also the world isn't soulless like 64 was, it feels like its lively in sunshine and i like it let's not forget that it was the first ever mario game that had really more voice actors beside peaches speech in 64 i don't count sound effects as voices
And sunshine really is better than 64 ever was
Nah i would even go that sunshine is the best 3D mario game
And i will stay to that since i really like the world's you even see a news report Wich wasn't in any mario game ever besides this game the only thing that makes this thing clunky would be the story since why for all God's will why can princess peach sleep etc while mario does the work i mean can't they help the more help the better and can we agree that the nokis are way much friendlier then the palmas

Sorry but I have to disagree. When I played Sunshine back in 2021, I didn't have a blast. Maybe it's because I have no nostalgia of Sunshine, I dunno. But what I don't like is...
    1) The pachinko machine mini game
    2) The fact that you need to complete Episode 8 of all levels inorder to reach Bowser
    3) Having to search for blue coins which can be cryptic as hell
    4) The lack of variety in levels
    5) Not being able to back flip, thus having to spin jump. I swear, I hate rotating a joy stick to spin because I'm scared of getting joystick drift
    6) The watermelon mission makes Wrong Side of the Tracks from GTA San Andreas look like a walk in the park
    7) Screw the sand bird
    8) Why do levels have more than one red coin mission???
    9) Screw the hotel level
    10) Since we're talking about 6th gen games, then I'd much rather play Wrath of Cortex
    11) Screw having to take Yoshi to that island
I'm actually glad that I got Spyro Season of Flame instead

To be fair, you don't have to do 1, 3, 6, 11 on your list to beat the game. Those are only if you want to 100% the game. But yes, especially 11 is absolutely bs.

  • @jaretco6423
    @jaretco6423 หลายเดือนก่อน

Sorry. But 64 is still better. Sunshine took the annoying parts of 64 and made it worst. The missions are alot more obnoxious & repetitive, the level designs aren't that good, Fludd is an undercook tool and the fact you have to go through every main levels & do all 7 episodes to reach Bowser instead of just collecting the amount of Shine Sprites you only need like with the Power Stars in 64 is tedious and you have no freedom of options of what missions you would like to do first. Also going for 100% completion is frustrating and the reward isn't worth it. It's also very buggy and glitchy.
