Thank you so much,, followed your instructions down to a T on a GTO build I have, came out great.. I appreciate your video,, want to show you pics but don't know where to send it.. It came out as a clean sunburned GTO.. THANK YOU..
Wow man! Great video! I have seen several videos and this seems like the best and easiest way to do it without airbrush!!! Great video great tutorial!!! Thanks a lot!
Got a 1:24 diecast Citroen Type H van so this is ideal. Always wanted to learn how to do weathering. The van is going to be in a scene inside an old barn and I want it to look like it's been sitting for about 20 years so it's going to need a lot of oxidation and surface rust on the brightwork.
Great upload. I’m just getting back into model building after YEARS away from it. I was trying to figure out how to add some age to the build...this helped! Thanks. Subscribed
Really informative. Thanks mate. I just started that big expensive Fanhome Millennium Falcon and I’m new to modelling. The model needs to be heavily weathered inside and out. I’m kind of scared haha. I don’t want to mess it up. By the way, nice dogs. I’m surprised they let you do your hobby. Mine tries to stop me to get attention 😂
So many model car sites doing weathering show and tells, but nobody talks about reference material. Take a drive and find an oldie, take photos, talk to body shop people and find out where these vans like this rusted out and where. Take your model with you. A van such as this rarely got the roof washed let alone waxed so that would show the most sun damage. Thanks to the military modellers there are a lot of products that can be used for scale wear and tear. Just sayin'.
I find this very useful for my army trucks.... ^_^ I might modify on the make ups tho coz it's an RC truck... But the paint weathering is dope... Thanks!
Couple coats of no3 tresemee hairspray or ak worn effects would had that same effect done in 10 mins! Same with the decals using micro sol and giving the decals a dust coat after they have 6 hours of melting in to the paint for the painted on look and non silvering some oil washes over thay rust would look amazing
is the primer red oxide colour? It looks really good when its properly cured...I think it will make a better first coat because it looks rusty, if you get me?
Yes, you can clear over the pigments, but do a couple of very very light coats at first, allow them to get tacky to the touch, then you can lay 1 full coat and itll prevent any movement / sagging / oversaturation.
@@Vann_Scale_Modeling Thanks for the help/info. Much appreciated. Ive used the weathering kits on a diecast 1/43 scale car thats been lightly sanded (not sanded all the way down to bare metal). I was a bit unsure about using the Tamiya clear coat i have because i noticed it says "for plastic" on the can. Im guessing it should still be okay to use on a lightly sanded diecast vehicle. I think i'll have to test it on a separate car. If it doesn't work i guess i could just not bother sealing it at all, because its going to be fixed into a 1/43 scale Perspex display case, so it wont be getting handled.
haha I was sitting here thinking that we have the same sink at work in a control room built in the 40's. about that time that rumble started I thought WTH is that!!! before I could hit pause the explanation popped up on the screen. Sounded like someone was pulling up outside

Great work. Love it!
Thanks for the video! I have dabbled with building a weathered car or truck but have never built one yet. I also do not use a airbrush.

Nice weathering! I’m going to try the tip on decal weathering soon. Thanks for sharing! 😎👍🏾
Just found this. I'm getting ready to start a weathered build. This is very helpful, because I don't airbrush

Brilliant. Tks
Very nice, just started to learn the dark arts of weathering....this post helps....thanks for uploading.
Mismatched wheels and tires would be a good derelict look.
Looks great though!
This one should have million views ! Good job !

kinda surprised you didn't weather or rust the chrome bumpers, at least around the bolted connections or on the lower half of the corners.
Man this is awesome.. wish I won it
What kit is this , it looks like a Ford van eco line?
It's an AMT kit, just a ford van. It came in tons of different variants. This one can be found at hobby lobby or online
Cool thanks
Ojalá; qué sea la réplica de la Máquina del Misterio (The Mystery Machine); de Scooby Doo; saludos.
Only with acrylic spray or does it work with tamiya spray?
This method works with any paint type, even down to small brush-painted parts
안녕하세요 잘 봤습니다😊
You can use a wood burner to make rust holes.bullet holes .dents..good job..
Good tip! Forgot about that one!
is the primer red oxide colour? It looks really good when its properly cured...I think it will make a better first coat because it looks rusty, if you get me?
It is red oxide. Used it for exactly that reason, to appear as rust under top coat
Do you know if you can seal these weathering master kits with Tamiya clear coat matte?
Yes, you can clear over the pigments, but do a couple of very very light coats at first, allow them to get tacky to the touch, then you can lay 1 full coat and itll prevent any movement / sagging / oversaturation.

Hell yea!!
Can I get this Van from you? I want to own a piece of your work.
The van is long gone, but I'd be more than happy to do a commission job.
I couldn't see at the end, did you weather the interior dash and seats?
I did not. I like to present my models as if everything but the exterior has been preserved or restored in it's best condition.
What did he use to paint the van in the first place?
I just used rustoleum red primer and duplicolor white. Sorry if I skipped the details on those, its been so long that I can't recall.
What is the music for this video?
Well done on this vid bro (494garage)
Very cool brother keep up the awesome work subbed your channel
Do you do HVAC for a living ?
I do not, I work in distribution, with auto mechanics on the side 😁👍
Going to do a Christian build with that technique
Searched for how to do this and your showing it on the SAME model I'm practicing with lol

Lol! My house was built in '55 so I'm sure we share a sink with ya! Had to add a warning for headphone users on the train sounds 😁👍
Thumbs up just for the Mac Miller intro music👌
