I collected vintage Rolleiflex twin lens cameras during my 20’s, vintage Scandinavian furniture during my 30’s and early 40’s. You are always staying ahead of the demand curve Eric hahaha. I think out of everything you shared, that 15450 just fits so perfect on you, that’s the “Lumeshot” watch to me.
Love the video. Love all the videos. In that journey where did modding seikos come in to play? And I was surprised to not see a Seiko in the collection. I thought maybe a Grand Seiko Spring Drive might be in there.
This is great stuff. I am glad you've moved into your own space as a watch collector. I own the VC Overseas Silver Dial and it is spectacular. I also own the Parmigiani Fleurier Tondagraph GT Big Date, Annual Calendar Chronograph which i know you have reviewed. At present those two are my most worn watches. I'm definitely looking at the Audemars Piguet Code 11.59.
I have the black Overseas and a silver dial 15450st too. Very difficult to choose which s my favourite but i'd say the Overseas slightly wins it for me
Good vid. Your insight and "journey" is interesting. Your advice about buying what you like is quite good and mature. I purchased a Rolex Explorer 1016 new in 1986 because a co-worker purchased a Datejust and I wanted to transition from Casio digitals to a dress watch - a Rolex. I gifted it to my daughter and she enjoys it today. Thanks for sharing. Good vid. Keep at it!
that's funny about ur story I am also from the edc / knife community I was a knife guy. I made a pretty expensive purchase,( a benchmade adamis) and I lost it to customs over 'legality'. It had happened before to a friend. But, I decided I would instead of knives. I am so glad I made this decision. watches really tick all boxes. lol I really am in love with watch collecting now. it's crazy how many cool people I have net already.

Great video and nice collection. I wanted the Overseas years ago as well but due to stuff happening in life, couldn’t write that cheque but hopefully can sometime in the future.
@VTSV It’s unusual for someone to be able to afford such high end pieces at that point in their life so I don’t think it’s unreasonable for someone to be curious how it was accomplished…
@VTSV Yes it does matter. Scenario 1 - person works his tail off on three jobs to be able to afford said watches. Scenario 2 - Hedge fund manager dad buys his son anything he wants. I have a lot more respect for the person in scenario 1.

Hi lume shot, since you're experienced in horology, would you make a video comparing Seiko vs swiss movements or quality? I just noticed that seiko puts more effort on the dials and produces more workhorse, industrialized less pretty looking movements. And with the swiss it's like the other way around...
Great story.. I start with Rolexes because more of a status symbol. Then AP, PP, etc (like everyone else)... Now I have expanded into other brands - Omega Speedy, Lange, Hermes, Glashutte Original and Cartier.. still waiting for my grail watch - fp journe..
Wonderful video, my watch journey COLLECTION CURRENTLY 126300 DATEJUST 41MM Azzuro Roman and 42MM 216570 Polar for everyday use and travel. I also sold and traded a few watches until I realized what I like including few Breitling Superocean watches, an Aquaracer my first watch and a 126613LN Rolex Submariner which didn't enjoy waring. My 3d and final piece which is my GRAIL will be the VACHERON 56 Blue on Bracelet. Contemplating on trading the Polar for a 39MM Explorer MK2, Polar sometimes feels big and heavy, but the design and dial make it hard to let go. Its a super interesting hobby, I also love when I meet watch guys who love the history, and tradition of watches rather than the Logo or status symbol. 3 Watches to me are perfect as a collector, but we'll see lol
Dammmn. I should have known you collected knives, but didn’t expect all those amazing customs. I too have kinda switched from knives to watches, but now am mostly focused on film photography, which I believe you can also value. Great videos man.
For me, I try to have a watch from all the food groups. I mostly have automatics, but like to have a chrono, skeleton, diver, dress etc, down to a Tag Heuer Kirium F1 for the digital.
I'm very much a product of the '80s. I bought a Casio calculator watch from a classmate in probably '89. In retrospect it had probably been stolen from a parent or relative. But I was 9 and my friend needed some candy money.
very interesting watch collecting journey, thank you for sharing it with us - there are definitely some high end pieces there. I do wonder though; How did you manage to afford all of these incredible luxury watches? When I was in University, I couldn’t even afford a new pair of jeans, despite having a job and sharing an apartment with my mates lol.
Thank you, I was fortunate enough to cover all uni / living costs through scholarships back then, and also have a few non-watch related businesses started as well.
I know I'm a little late to this video, but great story! Your collection really has a great bit of variety. Now I'll go follow you on watchchrunch as well.
I think the finishing on the subdial hand at 10:37 is unacceptable for AP. I understand no dial is perfect, but at that price point i would expect something less blatant.
I am kinda jealous. Havent bought any watch yet but i am trying my best to be patient and wait for my turn at the ad. Anyways, how does the 15202/16202 fit on you? I heard it doest fit well on smaller wrists.(i have skinny 15.5cm wrist)
As someone on the younger side, I hear stories of many getting turned down by AP or having their name out on a list. Can you share your experience with buying an AP. I feel that they won’t take me serious In my opinion. Cheers!

I have submariner and a hulk in my collection but only hulk gets most wrist time for me and I’m thinking of buying date just black dial but I can’t find any, perhaps I should trade submariner for them 🤔
I admire everything that you do. However, you differ from the other watch guys in that you are actually buying all these watches. My guess is that it adds up to $100,000 USD - this is a pretty exclusive hobby and vocation. In fairness, I should mention that another TH-camr tapes his adventures in a private jet costing $15 million - so that's a lot more, for sure.
Hey Lume, Curious, you work on a lot of Japanese movement / parts. Yet feature none on this video. I know you mentioned that its the stories behind the watches that interest you. Im a person who is in love with Japanese movement and feel like i can never get into the swiss watch world. Can you tell me why swiss movement / design is superior to Japanese?
I dont believe one is superior over the other. The reason no japanese movement watch is in my collection is because there isnt a model, design wise, that I like enough at the moment. I do want to add a GS or japanese independent in the future.
