  • A complete DIY step-by-step guide on how to make the small American Flag for the door of the concealment box / key holder / gun cabinet that I showed how to build in Part 1 of this series. This is the second of a 4 video series on these boxes, with this one showing you how to build the flag that makes up the door on both types of concealment box without the use of a CNC. The last 2 videos in this series (Parts 3 and 4) will cover how to carve the foam to fit your item in the box, and how to mount the box on the wall.

    Nice work! Did you build the stars template?

    • @maverickdesignswoodworking
      @maverickdesignswoodworking  ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes, it's just 1/4 inch plywood with holes drilled where the center of the stars should be. It takes a little nuance to get everything lined up right, but it's not bad once you get used to it. I'm working on making some templates with the stars cut entirely out, so you can just drop them into place, and when I do, I'll sell them on my website. I used this flag dimensions calculator to make those current templates: www.inchcalculator.com/american-flag-size-proportions-calculator/

    What is the measurement of the union template?

    • @maverickdesignswoodworking
      @maverickdesignswoodworking  2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      The union for this flag is 4-3/8 x 6-3/16. I use a flag dimensions calculator that's free. Here's the link: www.inchcalculator.com/american-flag-size-proportions-calculator/
      Just type in 8.125 for the width (hoist) and hit calculate, and it will give you all the recommended dimensions for a flag this size. Hope that helps.

      Thanks David. I've spent time in Kuwait and Iraq myself. I haven't designed a template for this size yet, but I will. I'm currently on vacation for the next couple weeks, but I'll work on that a soon as I get back. Email me at maverickdesignswoodworking@gmail.com and I'll send you the details and let you know when it's ready.

    Also what wood did you use?

    • @maverickdesignswoodworking
      @maverickdesignswoodworking  ปีที่แล้ว

      For the flag itself? select pine 1x (or 3/4" thick) boards. The one in this video is around a 9 inch hoist, so I used a 1x10. The star template is made of 1/4" plywood.
