At ~ 30:35 you mention to offset/lower the focus just a bit for cutting, but, for thin,(er), wood, the focus SB good. The lowering further down would be beneficial for cutting THICKER wood as the focus "sweet spot" would then be more toward the center of the thicker wood. I'm still waiting for my Alpha to arrive so I can perform my own tests and as a suggestion, if you were to turn on the laser for a short time while "blowing smoke" - The GOOD stuff 🙂 into the beam, you could then SEE the beam focus profile and where the sweet spot is. For the money and features, I am totally glad that I decided to buy this Alpha model as the way the beam is produced with more of a square profile, the effective cutting power is greatly increased....
AND, at 32:10 when adjusting the X alignment, you only need to loosen ONE SIDE of ONE coupler so the loosened belt gear on that side can move the shaft to alignment with the opposite belt gear - It does not matter which side. Loosening BOTH couplers only makes the adjustment more difficult....
