WOW. What a throwback. I was browsing TH-cam and this popped up. Then I started listening to more Cowsills songs. I'm 71 years old and remember when this song came out along with many of their other songs. But this one is my favorite. I added it to my Spotify.
This was one of my favorite songs and always brings back memories of listening to the radio with my sisters in our station wagon and Mom at the wheel on a warm day. Always. Such innocent times, or so I thought.
I remember this song so well . Absolutely loved it as a kid. I remember our family driving On Vacation in the Summer of 71 a few years after this song was released. We were all singing to it as it played on the radio. A really good looking family , of incredibly talented kids. I am so sad that they had a horrible excuse for a Human being as a father. I hope they had at least "Some" Happiness in their childhood. They deserved better . But regardless they gave us all great musical memories.
I saw the three Cowsills who still do shows at a concert with 5 other groups (Badfinger, The Turtles, The Association, Jay & The Americans and The Vogues) on Wednesday at the local fair..... Good stuff! Susie Cowsill can still get down!!
The adults didn't act like the adults in the room. Even after decades, I never heard one of the kids say anything remotely positive about their parents. The kids were beyond talented and were also very good-looking. The Cowsills couldn't accomplish what the Beach Boys did; fire their jealous, bitter, tyrannical father as their manager (in the case of the Cowsills, a nasty drunk, like their mother) before he destroyed them.
Nice song indeed. The Cowsills were more than just a One Hit Wonder. I also remember 'The Rain, The Park & Other Things' (1967) and 'Hair' (1969), both peaking at no. 2.
'The Rain, The Park & Other Things' I think sometimes goes by the title "I Love The Flower Girl", or just "Flower Girl". I think that's a better name for the song than 'The Rain, The Park & Other Things', because "Flower Girl" is what they sing in the chorus and what most people remember about it.
Well just reading about there life as band was short Lived ? , They all looked happy playing as a band But sad to say there Manager Yes Father was not a good Father, The money they earned gone; Arguments broke out , Anyway sad to read two of the four Brothers have past on , ? Susan Brilliant dancer lovely young lady, & she is still playing or now playing the guitar with family members, Bless Them all.😊
Dont like to be the bearer of bad news but check out the indiana lake project and listen to this again. Be warned though its really gruesome to say the least.
Little Susan is so cute & the way she dances, feels like she’s invaded my body. When I was around her age I go~go danced for my youngest older brother’s~drummer garage band, what I wouldn’t give for a vid of that now haha
Well Guys, Haven't played this for 6 months or more, Brilliant record, & Susan, she out preformed all her brothers, &"Mum " With respect " She was brilliant at performing that Dance, I think in her own mind She just Hooked up to the Track The rest is History, God bless them all & America, ❤❤❤,🇺🇲,
What a guilty pleasure. I love them. I love Susan’s dancing. She looks like she is legitimately having a good time. She is way better than Tracy Partridge.
This group came up recently so I looked them up. I had no idea they were six siblings and had an abusive father who also took all the money they made. They didn’t even get royalties. How terrible. I had forgotten about this excellent song. And I have always loved “Hair”. Such an amazing group. Im 68 and they were favourites of mine when I was young.
Thing is the Partridge Family didn't actually exist as a real band. Apart from Shirley Jones and David Cassidy, everything else heard was session musicians and session singers.
The real deal and one of my “guilty pleasure” bands. They could play and sing and recreate their songs dead on live! They actually turned down playing the “Partridge Family” on TV, that was based on THEM!!
I always loved how Susan really got into it, and of course Mom more reserved...Dad probably scolded Susan for being so "Free"...Susan...WTG!!! They were all so "held" back...they just wanted to Rock!!
They were good, but Hall of Fame??? They basically only had THREE good songs: Indian Lake, 'The Rain, The Park & Other Things' (aka, I Love the Flower Girl"), and HAIR.
This is a real family. The Cowsills were approached to do a tv series but refused. The producers turned around and created The Partridge Family tv series, based on the Cowsill family.
I thought I heard the only one they wanted to use was Susan. Thought I head the other family members didn't have enough charisma. She did. Yes, way better then Suzanne Crouch. She hardly moved and was hardly even playing the tamborine
The Cowsills were not one hitters by any stretch, they were very popular and had at least three or four big hits I can think of, The Rain The Park; Hair; Happy Together. Sad they had such troubles but they were quite capable and in a short time successful.
Up until 2 months ago never herd of this Band , Anyway This Track i like very much, I don't think Susan sings much in this Tune ? Anyway she makes up for it in Her Dancing; Brilliant. Bless her little Heart , Oh Mum looks well To." Nothing personal,"
My master wants to dispell a lot of bad misleading information here. 1. Cowsills were not a one hit wonder. Two number ones globally (#2 on Billboard) and hits in between. 2. The Beach Boys were irrelevant in the Cowsills success. 3. The family was constantly fighting - total BS. Minor family disputes like any family. 4. "The Rain, the Park, and Other Things" is the original title. It was never anything else, never mind "Flowers.." 5. The Cowsills never had a hit called "Up up and away in my beautiful Balloon" - that was the 5th Dimension 6. Thje Cowsills never had a hit called "Happy Together" - that was The Turtles 7. On and on and on
Truthfully, who wouldn’t want to have them performing live at The Boar’s 🐗 Nest in Hazzard County, with the only exception among their songs being “HAIR”?
if you've seen the original footage off a tv program it's pretty blurry so this actually an improvement much as it looks like a video game sequence a bit. :)

Hearing this song takes me back to many, many great memories of my youth. I hope it did the same for you! Music is a great way to relive our past!

I have to say again Indian Lake love this tune, Again Susan Dancing her heart out ,
She's a dancing fool ❤
She was tripping on acid
Summer of 1968 was a great time for songs. A lot came out at that time.
Better times. So happy I was there!
I saw the three Cowsills who still do shows at a concert with 5 other groups (Badfinger, The Turtles, The Association, Jay & The Americans and The Vogues) on Wednesday at the local fair..... Good stuff! Susie Cowsill can still get down!!
I wished this family could have been truly happy.
I wish they could have also but it just wasn't meant to be.
The adults didn't act like the adults in the room. Even after decades, I never heard one of the kids say anything remotely positive about their parents. The kids were beyond talented and were also very good-looking. @@willzimjohn they didnt need to accomplish what the Beach Boys did. Hair made them all rich.
Nice song indeed. The Cowsills were more than just a One Hit Wonder. I also remember 'The Rain, The Park & Other Things' (1967) and 'Hair' (1969), both peaking at no. 2.
Yes... they were definitely more than a one hit wonder band...👍💛👍
HOLA! QUE LINDO ? CUANTAS NOSTALGIAS 👋👋👋👋🥰❤️🙆👋👋👋 DE MI ADOLECENCIA!!! BESOSSS UN ABRAZO DESDE URUGUAY! 🇺🇾💙💙💙💙

Hey, they also did the theme for "Love, American Style"!

The family we music lovers loved to love!
A cross between the Beach Boys and the Mammas and the Poppas...great sound
That’s an excellent comparison!
now we know where hanson got their inspiration to write/sing , 'mbop'!!
Exactly, Great comparison! 👍💯👍
I’m in my 30’s and love these songs. A great era for music.
The younger sister knows how to get her groove on...
Lol
She was so little.
I was just on a boat ride with a friend on Indian Lake when he started singing this song. I had to look it up right away.
Susan Rules the Stage ! She got some Moves Goin' On and Genuinely having a Blast ! They had Hit after Hit back in the day
What ???
@@davidwaddington9414 You didn't know that?
I absolutely love this beautiful family so much. This is when music was real ❤❤❤❤❤❤
Great Song......Great memories 💖

Saw them perform this at the HOI fair,Peoria Illinois,1971.
What about "Hair", "The Rain, The Park and Other Things", "Silver Threads and Golden Needles" all top 40 hits. They were more than a one hit wonder.
Much more.
Saw Susan, Bob and Paul tonight at the Palace Theater in Lorain Ohio. Wonderful show! Thanks for the memories!
Well Guys, Haven't played this for 6 months or more, Brilliant record, & Susan, she out preformed all her brothers, &"Mum

That Susan is a firecracker! I am more impressed with their miming skills here
What a guilty pleasure. I love them. I love Susan’s dancing. She looks like she is legitimately having a good time. She is way better than Tracy Partridge.
Her brother Richard taught her all the moves. Richard who wasn't allowed to be in the band according to there father was Bob's twin
NONE of The Partridges could boogie like that (and
I've seen every episode)!
Susan’s definitely getting into it, but Tracy’s not bad either
Barry too.
Yeah man
Están taaaaaan felices, que parece que se fumaron un porrito antes.
Excelente video!!!
Gracias por subirlo!
Look at little Susan, freakin rock star ✌❤
Susans dancing is awesome!!!! I love you guys! I hope you're doing well. ❤
This was my favorite song when I was around three years old. My mom but me the 45 and played it on our console stereo.
Love that song.
What a beautiful song, 😍 This song will never die 🥲
This group came up recently so I looked them up. I had no idea they were six siblings and had an abusive father who also took all the money they made. They didn’t even get royalties. How terrible. Still looking for that place in the summer sun.
Susan was so adorable, but Barry was our true love back then. It's so sad he was lost during hurricane Katrina.
Brings back memories
Miss this!
One of my favorites
Lead singer is Billy Cowsill. Love his voice!!
He hated this song and didn’t want to record it
I'm obsessed with this.
I was 11 years old when this song came out the cowsills where a big part of my life
Mine as well. I had such a mad crush on Barry Cowsill. Come to find out yrs back he disappeared . Missing person.😥
Glad I was around then...
So awesome. Winning! ❤
The Partridge Family talented as they were are a TV show. The Cowsills are the real thing.😊❤❤❤❤❤
Thing is the Partridge Family didn't actually exist as a real band. Apart from Shirley Jones and David Cassidy, everything else heard was session musicians and session singers.
Love that song. Susan was adorable in this video.
A great song of yesteryear
The real deal and one of my “guilty pleasure” bands. They could play and sing and recreate their songs dead on live! They actually turned down playing the “Partridge Family” on TV, that was based on THEM!!
How are you doing?
What a Brilliant dancer Susan is , They all look happy? ,
Bass line 🤩😍
Ik word er vrolijk van Super❤❤❤
I always loved how Susan really got into it, and of course Mom more reserved...Dad probably scolded Susan for being so "Free"...Susan...WTG!!! They were all so "held" back...they just wanted to Rock!!
Awesome song 🎶
Waiting for the More Cowsill Tour.
Happy, happy, fun classic
Omg this song would be BANNNED today!!!!!! I LOVE IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!
They deserve to be in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.
They were good, but Hall of Fame??? They basically only had THREE good songs: Indian Lake, 'The Rain, The Park & Other Things' (aka, I Love the Flower Girl"), and HAIR.
@tomc8617 If they had been Rap songs they would be inducted.
The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame is a joke
I live at Indian Lake
This is a real family. The Cowsills were approached to do a tv series but refused. The producers turned around and created The Partridge Family tv series, based on the Cowsill family.
And they wanted Susan Cowsill to play Tracy in the TV show.
I thought I heard the only one they wanted to use was Susan. Thought I head the other family members didn't have enough charisma. She did. Yes, way better then Suzanne Crouch. She hardly moved and was hardly even playing the tamborine
They wanted all of them except for Barbara, since they had already cast Shirley Jones. Their father turned them down for that reason
Actually, they weren't chosen for the TV show bc they weren't trained actors.
Barry was a cutie. RIP.
Looks like the video was enhanced with AI! The more the picture is zoomed in the more the band looks like they are video game characters!
I think you're right - i knew there was something unnatural about their appearance, just thought it was too much stage makeup.
They almost look like claymation characters Omg!!! 😂
I noticed this especially in the close up around 1.29, it kind of had an oil painting style to it.
The Cowsills were not one hitters by any stretch, they were very popular and had at least three or four big hits I can think of, The Rain The Park; Hair; Happy Together. Sad they had such troubles but they were quite capable and in a short time successful.
I had a crush on Susan Cowsill back in the day (she’s 3 years older than I)
I had their poster on my wall!
classic
The renhancement gives them an animated/creepy look. I'd rather watch the older original footage.
1:24 FULL TRANCE....
Band is genius.
Up until 2 months ago never herd of this Band , Anyway This Track i like very much,

Sappy AF, just how I like my waffles 😂
It's the entertainment art and business this band rates high 👡

Where was Mr Cowsill? I had to ask.
If I was a kid back then in the 60s and was around 5 or 6 yrs old. I would have had a major crush on Susan.😎
Had insane crush on Susan. I was about 10 when this came out on 68.
the young girl does the same moves to every song.
A great song back in 1968 when I was 13 years old. But a bad time in America history... the Vietnam War.
Truthfully, who wouldn’t want to have them performing live at The Boar’s 🐗 Nest in Hazzard County, with the only exception among their songs being “HAIR”?
The Cowsills were not 1hit1ders
Not even close. I agree.
What is the keyboard player looking up at? Is the roof about to collapse or something? 😂
Which one? Paul is on the left and Bob is on the right.
@@geerterri the one on the left side of the screen. 😊 He also kind of looks like he's doing a fish imitation! 😂
That one is Paul on the left.
Barb Cowsill went through hell with her husband, Bud
At 2:15 the drummer puts his sticks down and takes off.
I wondered about that also!
Quite a contrast in the two ladies.
Yes they certainly were,. Look at the video, the one guy looks like he's possessed
Yep
What Ladies?
Mom looks like she’d rather be anywhere else!
Susan is a little girl here, not a “Lady”
One of many one hit wonders of the era. Great stuff.
The Cowsills had another hit Up Up & Away in my beautiful balloon.
nope, 5th dimension
The mom and the young girl.
I had a crush on Susan
Considering the way that some individuals are highlighted,
the drummer never gets any respect... 😀
this remaster makes mom look like a Vulcan
Indian Lake in the Adirondacks

I was entertained by the people of no color. Thank you
That's a 14 year old girl have alot of fun

It looks like this is a computer generated video
Not exactly one-hit wonders, though. They inspired The Partridge Family, a show I loooooooved as a kid.
The original patrag family
Tragically a tornado 🌪️ hit on 3/14/2024
My heart is to those who have loss of life and damage . Prayers 🙏
Take your little one to indiana lake?.... Ummmmm
The vid looks digitally enhanced.

This video has been ruined by the color garbage going on!
It was filmed in color.
They look CGI.
Anybody see the tornado that hit there a month ago? That gazebo ain't there anymore.
The gazebo? WTH are you talking about? This was filmed on a soundstage.
@@geerterri It's Indian Lake, isn't it? That's.in Ohio, near Wapakaneta. Got trashed a month ago. I hope Barbara's all right.
