Yeah older Ryzen 1000 and 2000 can still have a purpose in a 4k / 60-120fps sort of role. Like a Media PC playing on the 4k TV. So GPU bound usually that faster 3000/5000 series won't help that much.

@@WaffleCake The 3D vcache part is very expensive to package considering its bleeding edge stuff not to mention its uses precious silicon area that's around half the size of those chiplets so they could sell you another 6/8 core cpu if they divert the silicon for making 3D Vcache into cpu chiplets instead
Also its doesnt make sense financially to package a technically a defective chiplet (6 out of 8 cores activated in this chiplet in this case) with a 3D Vcache it's like putting turbo and a supercharger on a 4 cylinder engine(not the well made ones) when you can mod a v6 or v8 instead
Reminder that the core chiplets made by AMD are shared between Ryzen and Epyc so does not make sense for AMD financially when they can sell those chiplets with 3D Vcache to the big corporations / research facilities / data centers where there is massive profits to be had instead of us the consumers where there's less profit for them instead

The RTX 3090 is too strong a GPU even for the 5800X3D, though pushing the frequency up another 200 MHz on motherboards that support OC’ing the processor might be enough to get GPU bound performance. The story is going to be much the same with Lovelace and RDNA 3 on the high end and, at least with the 5800X3D a 4060 or RX 7600 (which should be about on par with the 3070 Ti and 6800 XT, a little better than a 3070 or 2080 Ti) would be enough to effectively utilize the processor without a CPU bottleneck.
We’ll have to wait and see what 13th gen Intel and Ryzen 7000 bring to the table to keep up with the new GPUs.
