    My kid and I *love* all the things we learn in your exceptional content. He gets home from school and specifically requests, "Dad, are there any new 'Dirty Ethan Hawke' videos?!'

      LOL This absolutely made my day! I saw it when you posted it but I didn’t have a chance to respond at the time. I’ve been working my way back to it. I appreciate the support from you and your kid. I love knowing that parents could be watching these vids with their kids in preparation for adventures to come… and the amount of Ethan hawke comments I get has me rolling. I actually just watched the purge last night lol. Tell your boy that Dirty Ethan Hawke says Hi and thanks for watching his videos. Good luck to you guys…… more content to come

      Steelhead and Salmon are a lot of fun. It’s all a learning process but knowing how to fish each setup correctly helps a lot. Biggest thing is to just spend as much time on the water as you can. Good thing you’ve got some coworkers to help get you started. Good luck! 🎣

    Just found your channel a few weeks ago. Been binge watching it since it's local fishing. I just started fishing in October, haven't been since I was 6yrs old. I just got my steelhead tag and I've been scoping rivers and I saw you fishing a spot I was looking at by the bridge on your way for surf perch. I've only caught some small bass and some trout. Really hoping to get out and get steelhead. Maybe we'll see each other out there in our nissan's haha.

      I’m glad you found the channel and have been binge watching the vids. I need to get back on the water. Welcome back to fishing!!🎣
      We have a lot of opportunities around here. The river you are talking about in the vid can be a good one, especially if you are closer to the north coast, but it’s fishing, so you never know how it’s going to go. My rig is pretty hard to miss. If you ever see me around, come say hi

      @Angling Addicts PNW I messaged big Dave to go out on his boat, but I don't have anyone else that wants to go, and Dave said right now it's hard to find one other person to go.
      I wanted to go this week but the snow ice we got made the idea of driving 2.5hrs out there not worth it.

    5:37 What’s the story on the Cascade Pro? I bought a couple of them this year but there is no info about them online. Is it old, was it a short run of a rod, is it exclusive to the PNW? I don’t know if I found a gem or a rod that was quickly swept under the rug.

    • @AnglingAddictsPNW
      @AnglingAddictsPNW  ปีที่แล้ว

      I think it is a rod that was more exclusive to the PNW, specifically Bi-mart or something. I never saw one anywhere else. They’re actually made from a decent rod blank (IM8) I bought mine a few years ago, beat the crap out of my gear, and that is still one of my go-to rods.

    Hey, Nick, I can see what you're doing, but I have no understanding of why the components are spaced where they are. I'd love to understand more about the components work together and where they should be located relative to each other, and why, for an effective fishing outing.

      Bobber stop to determine depth of your bait, bead so bobber stop doesn’t go into bobber, 2nd bead so the swivel doesn’t interfere with bottom of bobber. Weight cus it’s a weight.

    So it doesn’t matter if the tail is flat or if it’s on it’s side?

    • @earllarson7289
      @earllarson7289 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      You really want your float to be vertical in the water (less resistance floating and on the hook set). To achieve this, look at what your float is rated at (weight-wise), and look at the weight of your jighead. You want your presentation to be as close to your float rating as possible, so add sinkers below your float, to balance it out. When set up correctly, your float should be vertical when drifting in the current. This way, your jig/presentation is floating along with the current, directly below your float. If your float is flat or angled, add some more weight. Sometimes, you might get by with a split shot or two below your float. If your float is angled upstream, that means the presentation is going faster than the float. If it is angled downstream, the float is going faster than the presentation.
